My book collection is a mess all over the place with piles of books everywhere, I am doing partial library video tours but by showing themed sets. The library is basically the entire house
@@SmokeysVideos Once I have sorted the books (one day) I will try to make some kind of book tour. Did spend some time recently re-shelving everything though there are still some piled high on the floors or the cupborads
Yes, it would. I am not aware of a monthly themed DC one. Perhaps they could do a July 1956 with Showcase but it would include a real mix of funny animal, war, romance, crime, westerns etc as well as the first Flash. Also, some of the comics perhaps might not be available for licensing reasons (Hopalong Cassidary, Big Town ?)
Great looking book, yeah X - men / Avengers were cover dated Sept 63 so would it be May or June 63 when they hit the stands ? I think that front cover on the hard cover is the Spidey figure by Ditko which was rejected for AF # 15, the choice of Kirby rather than Ditko for the cover of AF # 15 and Spidey # 1 has always baffled me its as though even though Stan Lee prefered Ditko rather than Kirby drawing Spider - man he dident have the confidence not to hit the newstands without Kirby cover images in this period. thanks for sharing its definately a tempting book.
I guess that was the case, but the cover from Ditko looks fine to me and would have sold it just as well. The Kirby ones also look fine as well. I guess we would have got used to either of them. I don't know how many Ditko covers were done at that time, perhaps most were done by Kirby or others ? The dating of the comics has always been weird and confusing and probably would have been out in June or so, perhaps they will call it that June 1963. If the 1962 one is a success or moderate success, perhaps we will get that and perhaps the Spider-man 1 / TOS 39 one ? I was struggling to think of any others. Same for DC comics, wonder what they would go with ?? Or any of the other comic companies. I think it is a lovely idea. It was a pity they didn't add a few more historical / period related material to give context as well as fan's recollections of purchasing the issues. If not the fans, perhaps the comic book artists who must have been 8 or 9 when those issues turned up on the news stand. Or even better, a few clips from the Naked City TV series where the covers are shown in the background of one of the scenes (surely they could have licensed those for the book ?). It is a wonderful book all the same.
Nice to get a lot of the minor characters such as Kathy / Millie / Patsy etc, I doubt if we will ever see a completist series of those in Omni format or the Journey / Strange / Tales of Suspense / Astonish etc (or even a Don Heck or Larry Leiber omni)
@@AndrewBuckleBookReviews A Don Heck or Larry Leiber omni would be tremendous they both have such an outstsanding body of work and both have been very much underated over the years it would be wonderful for Larry to get some love now while he is still around so many of the greats have only had recognition after they have sadly gone, that is one of the good things about the recent sad passing of George Perez at least people had the chance to pay their tributes to him while he was still around.
Have to update that Lina ... to Linda. The spine is ok, it was damage to the front of the book, perhaps I did it, can't recall seeing it earlier so maybe I dropped it at an angle or something. She is not the same Linda Carter but basically, yes, it is the Linda Carter / Night Nurse from the original 61 / 62 period. There was also a series of Linda Carter, Night Nurse in 1973 with a gothic themed story in the last issue, 4th (it was reprinted in a collection recently). The earlier Linda Carter stories have yet to be fully reprinted. I have an issue from the time along with these two. She also appeared in the Netflix series 'Daredevil' etc
It is a quick review, it is not an overview, please check out a video that is a flick through or overview etc if that is what you want. It is a review channel, not an in-depth study of the art in the book (such as 99% of the book reviews on YT)
I ran into the ultimate curse of book collecting: out of space! You should do a library tour video.

@@AndrewBuckleBookReviews The best kind of library!

Great video very enjoyable many thanks
thank you, glad it was of interest - it is a wonderful book. Really like this series of monthly themed omni
Interesting idea, has DC done a similar kind of book? One like this that covered old pulps/sci-fi comics would be cool too.

Yes, totally agree. Quite often people get all the tributes and books after they are long gone, hopefully they will bring out a Larry Leiber omni.
isn't Linda carter the night nurse ( you spelled liNa in the title). She had a comeback in Daredevil. To bad for the damaged spine.
