Post Review Updates: - 24 June 2022 So I realised I forgot a few things in this video. 1. I forgot to add the updated wireless dongle table. I checked the wifi settings and it is medium level of spec, with a max data rate of just 200mbps (U2-X has 433.3mbps). It also has a lower Channel width of 40Mhz over 80Mhz on the U2-X. Both signal noise ratio and signal average were similar. 2. I didn't touch on the dark mode on this dongle over the U2-X performance because it didn't work in my car's android head unit. You'll probably point out some other things, so leave them in the comments and I'll try my best to answer them.
@@neohu8856 Can you help provide feedback to Carlinkit company that for Android Auto mode in Carlinkit 4.0 for Lexus vehicles that it will not fill the whole screen (only 2/3 of the screen) and touch control pad is buggy and unresponsive. While Carplay mode in the same vehicles works fine and does scale to the full screen. Thanks.
@@keibee Thx for your feedback, can you provide a picture of Android Auto here, or you can connect Android Auto and upload the log to us via iPhone (connect the device wireless signal, password 12345678)
For the GPS toggle: You set this on/off to use the original car's GPS. This is if there is a navigation drift problem after connecting the mobile phone, you can toggle this option to try and fix that.
@@CarPlayLife when you say a drift do you mean like it’s lagging behind? I got this unit about a week ago and at times my gpa would be 10 to 15 seconds behind, stop at a traffic light look at the screen and I’m still driving and about to pull up to the lights… this is game breaker for me :( sorry just to note I use an iPhone and the Application for the map is Waze
Yes, drift is mainly when the position isn’t accurately displaying where you actually are on the map. Your case seems like a mix of visual delay and inaccurate GPS. Either from a bad/poor signal or amount of satellite fix. Is it the same in other nav apps or just Waze? If it’s the same it’s hardware issue and you can try toggling the gps to see if it fixes it but it could be a bigger issue. Such as interference from other hardware in the car. Or your phone. You can try a different phone to rule out the latter issue.
@@alenbaltic never experienced such an delay with an iPhone. Sounds like waze was lagging. How often did you experienced this with having waze restarted?
@@technickr most of the time it’s fine, it gets bad only if I’m on a call or I’m playing Spotify. I drive an Volvo XC60 poster 2021. So it could be the car not liking it will try a different phone. It’s same issue with other map apps.
Had the same issue, test tomorrow to see if it works, Just to save the next person searching. If you do roll back the firmware be aware the password for connecting to the WiFi will be 12345678
It’s the wires pass-through and available android auto connectivity for me. I do have an iPhone but I like all my bases covered, also since I’ll be mounting the device out of sight, the ability pass-through is huge for me.
It depends what you want out of the dongle. 3.0 is still a great dongle with multiple user menu, fairly rapid boot time. Just not android auto and likely future support once they put more attention on 4.0. 3.0 still has better WiFi specs.
Which do you like best, between this one and the Ottocast U2-X Pro? The Ottocast is a bit more expensive, which is fine if it's a better unit. I'll be using it for only one phone, to provide Android Auto in an Apple CarPlay-only car. Thanks!
I hope to do a round up that will feature both of these dongles later this month. The Pro has better WiFi specs so might perform better for AAuto wireless connection. Using Cable worked better too on the Pro where I got a green screen on cable connection of the CarLinkit.
@@CarPlayLife why did the CarlinKit 4 win the 2 in 1 comparison if it is worse in these regards? For Android the U2-X pro seems to be the better choice
The point of the 2in1 is mostly for multi device and android connection to CarPlay only system. The 4.0 is much better at this especially when dealing with multi device support. The U2-X Pro can be sometimes hit and miss to reconnect between devices and in regards to android the 4.0 felt more reliable and in its pairing speed. Add a deep level of custom options in its IP config menu and that’s why the CarLinkit won over the U2-X Pro. The one thing the Pro does have over them all is the high resolution support. But most older cars don’t have such a high HD display to support this. So that feature is wasted on most CarPlay systems.
After having received two Exploter Applie pies Ultras, and both still looking really glitchy, I need to return them for a refund. I am considering this one next to try...
Have you experienced a drop in audio quality when you use the CarlinKit 4.0 for wireless carplay? I am experiencing a drop in audio quality and the music doesn't sound as crisp and loud as it is generally with wired connection or just bluetooth.
My wife has a Sony Sony XAV-AX5000 after market system in her Camry. Carplay works fine with my iphone but her Oneplus 9 phone has always had issues connecting via the cable to the head unit using Android Auto. I have tried six ways from Sunday to fix this issue to no avail. I am thinking of purchasing this unit to use so she can connect wirelessly.(cheaper than a new phone). Am I barking up the right tree thinking this will work?
It’s possible. The only concern is that the Sony HU are very picky with what dongle works on it. So buy off Amazon for easy returns if it doesn’t work.
I have a 2019 Impala premier. I bought the 4.0 and when I plug in the device for set up nothing appears on the car monitor after the red light turns on, on the device. Any ideas please?
This is a great video/channel… my oem nav/head unit is a bit old (2016 VW golf R) and I wonder which of all these dongles you review is the fastest and least laggy. Looking for single user iPhone interface for CarPlay that skips the bells and whistles and is fast to boot and has little lag while plugged in.
Good Morning! Friend I connected the carlinkit 4.0 in the ford ka model car with SYNC 2.5 multimedia center, the reverse camera stopped working. As the multimedia center does not process the camera images and android auto
My question is does this work with a aftermarket double din stereo? Like my stereo has wired CarPlay. Could I simply plug this in to the usb port my apple cable plugs into or could I even plug it in behind the stereo? Been trying to find a dongle that will work with my double din stereo.
Could be a number of things. From heat, to compatibility with your system, so nearby WiFi knocking out the signal. The 3.0 has one of the better specs in WiFi but it isn’t as strong or reliable as the smaller 3.0 mini
My aftermarket Android OS stereo supports wireless Apple, but wired android. I only use Android. Do you have a preference or video for the best wireless Andoid dongle with the least lag and ability to screen mirror, or watch RUclips from phone onto screen?
I’d really like to go wireless CP in my 2019 E Class, but lag is always my most important consideration (I use Waze). Would you say it’s suitable for a chauffeur? I tried it when I was driving for Uber and other apps, but the lag was horrible. These days, I don’t have all those apps running in background either, so that should help?
Thanks for watching and the sub. Most appreciated. I never had an issue with lag/delay in navigation on my setup. I think this varies between cars/systems. Seeing as you've already experienced it, if you haven't changed the system or car you're in, then I would guess the experience will be the same regardless of the wireless dongle you use. I think also if you rely on the audio of the navigation than not looking at the display, then the audio delay might prove to be a problem also. Hope this helps.
Will this be able to switch easily if both my Android Phone and my wife's iPhone are paired to the dongle? Or will it just connect to the first one it sees ?
First one out sees unless you turn support connect off. Then you are able to tap on a device to connect. Check out this also of your car has both CarPlay and Android auto support ruclips.net/video/fEJrta92RVw/видео.htmlsi=IZ5v6d3DXT7fVchn
Hello . Thanks for your great videos . I have a Carlin kit 4.0 installed . Its working great so far . The only issue I’m having is that it says it will disconnect me from Carlin CarPlay if I join my car’s WiFi hotspot? Is there a way around this ? Thanks v much again
Hello, I would like to ask you for help with a problem with this product: when I receive a call on my iphone, the interlocutor does not hear me because the communication does not switch to carplay but to mbux of my MB GLC. Every time I have to pick up the phone and select carplay so that they can hear me ....
Hi, I have been looking for a wireless carplay dongle that can work with the new Volvo's Android Automotive OS OEM Carplay. Carlinkit 3.0 does not work at the moment. Can you advice on any capable device? Thank you.
It’s a little more tricky than when using iPhone. It should be in the manual and it still requires connecting to it via Wi-Fi and going to the browser on the android device and entering its IP address 192.168.50.2
Any idea if these work on aftermarket android systems , ive tried to plug it into usb but doesnt give the initial start up infact doesnt do much the light on carlinkit comes on but nothing else
it's very slow some time with Androids and shrink's my screen resolution. it makes it harder to read the map for Android. It over increased the screen resolution for iphone making the icons way to big. but works smooth with iphone.
Sounds like you’re running this on a large format or high resolution screen. Try going into the IP config menu and setting the resolution to a higher format 720 or 1080 and see if that improves things. For speed play around with the media delay. 300-500 might work but audio might skip. If so set between 500-1000 until it’s better.
I’m wanting to buy this for my Atoto head unit without built in Apple CarPlay but I’m now having second thoughts of it’ll work since I did t work on your Daisato 😅.
If you can install apps on the android HU you should look at adapters specific for these devices, like these ruclips.net/p/PLysOHeJ5BkMj-ov6_61XEGpj9AbbM0QYM
No you need an adapter that works with android head units. Not android auto head units or Apple CarPlay units. Again, only if the atoto supports the ability to install android apps
@@CarPlayLife It absolutely supports the ability to install android apps but I’m still unsure if this will work for me. The only unit I am fairly sure will work for me is the CPC200 - CCPA

However, my one don't even connects at all upon arrive, but they don't offer replacement, just ask me wait for their engineer to fix !? What . My friend one a little but better luck than me, can connect, but auto re-start, and poor music quality after phone call !!! Already have the firmware on June 2022, any hit ?
Sounds like compatibility issue and they are looking into fixing if you send them a support ticket of the issue you’re experiencing. What car make and model are you using them on?
I’m still using the 2.0 since I bought a year in a half ago. Rarely ever had any issues with it to this day and still going strong. Is there any improvements between the 3.0 or the 4.0 over the 2.0?
Idk if this even exists.. help plz I have an old android unit (1gb of ram) its rather slow and im hoping to upgrade it abut i dont wanna replace the whole thing, its rather expensive, is there a well spec dongle that i can plug into it that would over ride the system and give a faster experience, thanks
Unlikely because the box would have to go through another software layer of your older unit, meaning you’ll likely get slow performance or extra lag on top of what the box is doing. It could also disconnect often too. You best option is to replace the old one with a more modern unit, with most of the wiring done you would just be a fairly easy swap I would imagine. Or go for a standalone display like the coral vision. But if you’re after android you will have to look elsewhere than CV because they done have an android display out, yet :)
Sadly not. It’s either retro fit a CarPlay system, install an aftermarket system or use a standalone display like one of these ruclips.net/p/PLysOHeJ5BkMjtEOXRVeCE3fruLXqmPr9B
The 3.0 will not support android, so if you want to use android auto on a carplay only system, then you only have a few options. The 4.0 or U2-X ruclips.net/video/fR3Wku1ZxVA/видео.html and I have new reviews from MMB and AutoBox coming soon.
I have my S21 Ultra connected to my stereo via this 4.0 but it doesn't fill the screen. The touch screen however uses the whole screen so the 2 are not in line. Is there a way to change the display size? works fine through wired. Thanks
@@KiruHellsGate it's actually sorted itself out. As long g as I get in the car and put my seatbelt on before turning on the ignition, it fits. It seems to be to do with order of connection
Hi, I got this 4.0 carlinkit and it successfully connected. But the screen size very zoomed in and I can't exit or navigate to settings. Is there any solution available?
Hello! I’ve just bought one and plugged it in my HRV which has wired carplay and android auto in it. The Carlinkit 4.0 did boot up but when pairing, it keeps failing to display carplay and keep disconnecting my bluetooth. Is this a firmware issue or I just got a faulty product? PS. The passthrough works just ok
BT will disconnect and it will go over to WiFi after the initial BT pairing. So you will not see it connected to BT afterwards. Check your WiFi settings and see if you’re connect to a network that will be the dongle. If you’re not click on it and see if it connects. Toggle auto connect off and back on again. Check in settings > general > CarPlay to see if the dongle profile is there and try to tap to connect to it that way.
It's the only one that does the custom home icon, if that's desirable. Wi-fi spec wise it isn't the best of the bunch - around middle spec. The boot menu with its multi-user menu ads extra boot up time, so if you don't need this its best to look elsewhere for a faster booting dongle. This is rather slow, as it adds android auto ability. What it does have going for it is updated software that updates AutoKit (v2.0?) so you have multi-user and all the nice config options, that a lot of newer dongles are supplying any more. I am sure we will see other carlinkit OEMs adopt this software soon too.
@@CarPlayLife was able to get into the device settings. played with DPI and screen resolution but haven't found one that works for my 2020 NX. The default 800 x 480 shrinks the screen with black bars on either side of the 14 inch display. If I choose 1280 x 720, it fills the screen but is overblown and cuts off the top and bottom screen. There is a custom resolution setting but that doesn't seem to do anything no matter what I enter. I don't think Caroline cat has a solution so I'm trying another product OTTOCAST U2-X Pro.
Hello greetings Have a few questions. I have 2022 Corsa F and have Iphone 13 Pro Max which wireless carplay module would you advice to me in terms of performance and stability. Especially should i go with carlinkit 3 or 4 thank you i am a bit concerned. One more does it damage the car in any way Thank you have a nice one
It shouldn’t damage the car. It’s only worth going for the four if you want to use android devices with it. Otherwise you might as well save some money and go with a the CarLinkit 3.0 or 3.0 mini which is better value and is cheaper.
@@CarPlayLife thank you very much so as i understand no need for carlinkit 4.0 unless i use android device also how is performance with 3.0 thank you Ps sorry for late response
Hi, i have this dongle with my 2016 vw beetle with native cable CarPlay. When I plug this in the car it syncs but the dongle freezes. its unusable, extremelly slow can't eve operate. I it is the dongle because when I exit CarPlay the stereo function perfectly.I tried everything except changing the firmware. In one facebook gruop are telling to rollback the firmware to the 06/22. But I haven't seen anyone changing the firmware on this device. Any Advice?
5.0 is slightly faster. It also only works with wired CarPlay to wireless CarPlay or wired Android auto to wireless Android auto. It can’t do cross platform - wired CarPlay to wireless Android auto etc. the 4.0 can do this though.
hi have just got myself one of these. my sony ax5500 will not connect to Android Auto, only Carplay. I have a Motorola g9 plus which worked fine on Android Auto wired but the dongle just wont connect to the head unit. Just keeps going searching for connection. gets to the point at 1.20 and will not connect. Have i got a dud one
Not really. Both have the same autokit config menu. The 3.0 is faster and without that extra layer of CarPlay/android it keeps it simple. Less things to go wrong.
The problem I have with my carlinkit 4.0 and my s22 ultra SD is that only the Map audio works, not any RUclips or YT Músic audio. Anyone With this issue or any solution?
hi i had precedent version, now i have the 4.0, it worked in my 2021 focus but in my 2022 it doesnt... i cant find the bluetoth devise in my iphone list.. do u have any idea of the issue ? thx
Apparently some adapters have issues with very new vehicles because makers don’t have access to new models to test them out. So they rely on customer feedback to address each one. If there is no BT the dongle can’t be firing up completely. Does it even display anything on screen? If not that is why. If it does try connecting directly to its WiFi and play about with the config menu.
@@CarPlayLife thats what i tried but im lil bit lot to be honest… I did can connect to the dongle.. i can connect my phone to bluetooth to my new ford sync but when i plug my dongle i just have the adverts message of ford and nothing else
If it has wired CarPlay you can just skip to buying the AI Box. It works mostly with CarPlay systems. Rarely do they work with Android auto car systems. So no need for a dongle AND an AI box.

Have a 2016 Hyundai Elantra and used Android Auto since brand new with Samsung Android phone. Recently purchased Carlinkit 4.0 CP2A but cannot get into link to Android Auto. It defaults to Apple CarPlay which I just don’t understand. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the dongle with no success. Also cannot reach the website to check for updates. Any suggestions?
There is a 4.0 and also a newer 2Air adapter. The 2Air acts differently to the 3.0 and more specifically 4.0, in that it can’t convert from CarPlay to AAuto it will only directly transmit wirelessly from the source it has connected to. So if you have both CP and AA available and only wish to connect an Android wirelessly it needs to connect to AAuto wired option on the system. This might not be the issue you’re experiencing though?
I may not have expressed my issue clearly. How does the Carlinkit 4.0 default to Apple CarPlay when I use an Android phone? I do not have CP on my phone. I have tried selecting the AA icon on the console, have checked the settings to always use AA but it still defaults to CP. I have been using wired AA from phone without any issues for some 6 years.

I bought a cpc200 tbox last januery, worked find in my 2017 vehicule. I just bought a 2022 ford pickup with sync4 and wireless carplay inclued. Now my dongle doesnt want to connect. Carlinkit told my that its only working with wired carplay vehicule, so the dongle now is good for garbage or there some way to make it work. Thanks appreciate your time.
Its does have a usb connection but when i plug it in, it try to connect and at the end it just stop. I think that the ford sync 4 does not support the dongle. Did you eard about sync3 or 4 problem with dongle connection.
Maybe try a longer lead and have the box more visible and less hidden from view. There might also be other electrics that’s blocking the signal nearby it.
I've recently purchased this item, I can't get it to work on my 20 plate Renault Zoe, it brings up a screen saying welcome to android auto, then won't allow me to go any further, any tips to get round this, or is it simply not compatible with my car which has wired apple car play and android auto, any help would be greatly appreciated.
You could play with the config menu by plugging it into a wall adapter, finding its Wi-Fi network, connect to it using password 88888888 or 12345678 and play with compatibility settings and start delays, save settings and then remove and return to the car to see if it’s improved things. Try it in a different CarPlay car to rule out if the dongle is at fault

The red light means it’s being powered and once connected it turns blue. If you’re not seeing anything come up you either don’t have it plugged into a CarPlay usb port or it’s not compatible with your specific system. I’d send it back and try an alternative product.
This is a CarPlay channel 🤪 only joking. I’ll try but each time I’m recording there is only so much I can do on AA other than show maps, play music, make a call. If you have anything else I should try/do please let me know. Other than getting a green screen when using it wired through the dongle, AA works well.
Hi i am facing a problem, i have an Audi E-tron GT 2022 that has wired apple carpay and my iphone is on ios 14.6 right now. I got carlink 4.0 CPC200-CP2A. Tho siri is working fine. I checked and i have latest version installed on carlink 4.0. Kindly guide me on this.
Are you able to try the dongle in a different CP vehicle? That could help rule out the dongle or vehicle that’s at fault. To me it sounds like compatibility as it’s quite a new model and it might not have been tested or designed for it yet. You might have to tell them the issue and hope they update it with a fix.
@@CarPlayLife I don’t have another car with carplay functionality, secondly its a new car but they have mentioned it on their website that it’s compatible with E-ton GT 2022 model. So what do you think is it some bug that can be fixed over update because everything else is working fine like siri and apps just i am not getting audio when i play music.
Is it audio in all apps or just an app like Apple Music? Have you tried others? If they work it’s a bug. If all don’t work when it’s a bug on the dongle that should be fixable though software update. But unless they know about it by sending them a support ticket on the issue it won’t get fixed.
If your android stereo can have android apps installed onto it then you’ll need a different dongle. Like this one ruclips.net/video/s7DaSaKFaEM/видео.html

A dongle like this will do that. Any 2in1 CarPlay adapter. ruclips.net/p/PLysOHeJ5BkMg33wdDBIfm8EZ-soKiT2CD use your android auto wirelessly thought a CarPlay connection.
If you just want wireless CarPlay I would look at the TNVTEC(AutoBox), U2-Air. But buy from Amazon as I hear the pioneers can be quite picky as to what works with them.
You’ll need an android AI Box for all that. So check out the CarLinkit TBox V3 or better is a dongle that features a QC655 chipset inside with 4GB of RAM.
Android user. With a 2018 jeep wrangler JLU, with Uconnect 7inch screen. I saw this on an Amazon review, but when attempting to connect the screen become static green. I see at the bottom it appears like its trying to connect the phone as an iPhone because it says carplay, instead of android auto. Does anyone know how to force it to launch as android auto and maybe that might fix it. If not this was a fat waste of money
It should auto connect to any device that was previously paired and in range. The icons bottom left of the boot menu are just images they are not buttons like the Ottocast u2-x which is a button to toggle between AA and CP but that isn’t the cast on this 4.0 dongle from CarlinKit
Sorry I am not sure on that one. Siri used to crash for people with Fords with sync 3 systems. It was something they had to fix in a software update of the dongle. So maybe this is similar for the car you’re in?
Please help! I've just got mine 4.0 and I have an error "Hardware error: Wi-Fi BT" after upgrading. I've seen a video on your yt channel about the same error on 3.0 but not sure if it will work on 4.0. Thank you in advance!
I’m not sure the 3.0 update fix will work on the 4.0 unless there is a 4.0 based firmware available. The software is so different it will likely brick the dongle instead. The hardware error is odd for something so new. Reach out to their support team as they will have to give you a usb based update file to fix this issue. Doing it over the air won’t be possible.

Sounds like a compatibility issue. I don’t think this can be fixed without a future update. Let their support team know about this and they might be able to fix it in a future update.
The 4.0 has better web UI config menu options and it also has multi user support. If these are important then 4.0 is better. But if you want better performance in WiFi connection then the U2-X is better on paper in that area.
I just purchased a used MMB+ for £60. Should I cancel my order and order a different dongle? I am only going to use this for wireless CarPlay (iPhone only) and maybe the odd RUclips in my car however, I’m not wanting to spend crazy money on a dongle. What are your thoughts? Should I go for another dongle instead? Is there a better value for money dongle out there?
You won’t be able to play RUclips on this dongle ad you can on the MMB+. So if that’s what you want to do the keep it. There’s little options out there for that and just wireless CarPlay without the complexity of a full Android AI box
@@CarPlayLife thanks for getting back to me. Is the difference in performance between MMB+ and TVNTEC worth getting a TVNTEC instead? I know TVNTEC doesn’t support RUclips

Hi. I have wireless CarPlay on my Mini already but would love to be able to use RUclips, Netflix and Iplayer etc for those times your parked. Would this do that or could you recommend something else? Thank you in advance.
So this is just a wireless dongle. You need what’s called an AI Box. Check out my playlist for these boxes here ruclips.net/p/PLysOHeJ5BkMh2B1Rn4O0nk1ZSbJ2ufr-Y right now they are a little underpowered for what they should be. Depending on where you’re located I might be able to link to some decent ones.
A very important flaw to mention; when you play a podcast or youtube or any muaic file, the sound comes significantly later, very delayed sound . Please tell me if same problem is happening with Ottocast
It’s the same on all wireless dongles. Some might tackle it Better than others but I’ve yet to hear anything better than around 1second delay. Usually it’s 1-3s delay. This is a trait of WiFi audio than BT audio. It has a higher latency than BT.

So I realised I forgot a few things in this video.

Hi, can you tell me what the gps setting in advanced tab does mean? Spotted this since the new look of the UI, but it's nowhere documented.
For the GPS toggle: You set this on/off to use the original car's GPS. This is if there is a navigation drift
problem after connecting the mobile phone, you can toggle this option to try and fix that.
Did you have recognized some people having trouble with android assistant for a while? Me having this issue too, now. It just hangs if triggered.
Maybe see if there’s a update out that could fix this in both android and dongle.
@@CarPlayLife you need to downgrade to 2022.06.09.1652

Just to save the next person searching.
Good choice 👍
So which one better CarlinKit 4.0 or CarlinKit 3.0 ?
It depends what you want out of the dongle. 3.0 is still a great dongle with multiple user menu, fairly rapid boot time. Just not android auto and likely future support once they put more attention on 4.0. 3.0 still has better WiFi specs.
Hey, after a failed update when I plug mine in I get no status LED's at all. Is there something I can do to allow it to flash the firmware?
If the light doesn’t come on it’s likely now bricked. Because it isn’t getting into a boot state to be able to flash I think.
Thanks!
I can’t say I have but I think that might be because my system/s have been doing a lot of the heavy lifting in overall quality.

First basic question, your car has wired CarPlay? Followed by, is it listed as compatible on their website or sale page?
This is a great video/channel… my oem nav/head unit is a bit old (2016 VW golf R) and I wonder which of all these dongles you review is the fastest and least laggy. Looking for single user iPhone interface for CarPlay that skips the bells and whistles and is fast to boot and has little lag while plugged in.
So I assume you have the MIB2 with CarPlay currently installed in the Golf?
@@CarPlayLifeaccording to a Google image search, I am pretty sure I do have the mib2 (it’s the stock touch screen with nav and with wired car play).

My question is does this work with a aftermarket double din stereo? Like my stereo has wired CarPlay. Could I simply plug this in to the usb port my apple cable plugs into or could I even plug it in behind the stereo? Been trying to find a dongle that will work with my double din stereo.
It needs to be plugged into the same wired CarPlay USB port. If the back port does that too then it could work.
I had carlinkit 3 and it used to disconnect and reconnect randomly every few minutes. Are there any issues with this?
Could be a number of things. From heat, to compatibility with your system, so nearby WiFi knocking out the signal. The 3.0 has one of the better specs in WiFi but it isn’t as strong or reliable as the smaller 3.0 mini
My aftermarket Android OS stereo supports wireless Apple, but wired android. I only use Android. Do you have a preference or video for the best wireless Andoid dongle with the least lag and ability to screen mirror, or watch RUclips from phone onto screen?
Can you install android apps onto the OS of the receiver? There aren’t many options.
PS-really useful video, have subscribed.

Wireless CarPlay needs WiFi to operate so switching WiFi will disconnect CarPlay. The only way around this is to use wired CarPlay.
You can disable auto join on the settings for your car wifi from your iPhone.

till now from your profssinal openion, what is the best AI Box for the average person ?
It depends what you want to do with it.

Will this work in my 2011 fx35?
Unlikely as it needs wired CarPlay
How do you get onto the web setting on an android phone? Thanks
There won’t work without CarPlay. You’ll need an android head unit specific adapter like one of these ruclips.net/p/PLysOHeJ5BkMj-ov6_61XEGpj9AbbM0QYM
it's very slow some time with Androids and shrink's my screen resolution. it makes it harder to read the map for Android.

Is it full screen when it’s using CarPlay wired? If no then these won’t either.
I have a 2011 fx35, it has the USB port in the arm rest storage. Will the dongle work in that car?
These all need wired CarPlay to work. So if you’re car doesn’t have that, which as it’s 2012 I doubt it, it will not work.
I’m still using the 2.0 since I bought a year in a half ago. Rarely ever had any issues with it to this day and still going strong. Is there any improvements between the 3.0 or the 4.0 over the 2.0?

I have an old android unit (1gb of ram) its rather slow and im hoping to upgrade it abut i dont wanna replace the whole thing, its rather expensive, is there a well spec dongle that i can plug into it that would over ride the system and give a faster experience, thanks
Is there a model I can buy for devices that don't have car play from the factory?

Check in settings > general > CarPlay to see if the dongle profile is there and try to tap to connect to it that way.
do you think this is the best quality product for carplay wireless?
It's the only one that does the custom home icon, if that's desirable. Wi-fi spec wise it isn't the best of the bunch - around middle spec. The boot menu with its multi-user menu ads extra boot up time, so if you don't need this its best to look elsewhere for a faster booting dongle. This is rather slow, as it adds android auto ability. What it does have going for it is updated software that updates AutoKit (v2.0?) so you have multi-user and all the nice config options, that a lot of newer dongles are supplying any more. I am sure we will see other carlinkit OEMs adopt this software soon too.
Is there a way to fix the Screen resolution. It seems to shrinks the screen when using Android Auto on my 2020 nexus nx
Sounds like compatibility issue to me. Try switching display modes and restarting each mode change to see if that fixes things.
Just keeps going searching for connection. gets to the point at 1.20 and will not connect. Have i got a dud one
If only using CarPlay… does it make any advantage in getting the 4.0 over the 3.0? Thanks!
Not really. Both have the same autokit config menu. The 3.0 is faster and without that extra layer of CarPlay/android it keeps it simple. Less things to go wrong.

Apparently some adapters have issues with very new vehicles because makers don’t have access to new models to test them out. So they rely on customer feedback to address each one.
As far as wireless CP and AAuto goes, all this is done over WiFi.

Does it work full screen on vertical screens? Like volvos? Thank you!
It ‘should’ act exactly like it does when using it wired
@@CarPlayLife so, no full screen
Does it work well with android auto ? Can you focus a little bit more on Android please... Since it is the most used one.
This is a CarPlay channel 🤪 only joking. I’ll try but each time I’m recording there is only so much I can do on AA other than show maps, play music, make a call. If you have anything else I should try/do please let me know.
Other than getting a green screen when using it wired through the dongle, AA works well.
Can i use on pioneer dmh-a248bt? It doesnt have android
If it has wired CarPlay, it should work
Hi i am facing a problem, i have an Audi E-tron GT 2022 that has wired apple carpay and my iphone is on ios 14.6 right now.
I got carlink 4.0 CPC200-CP2A.
When i connect to carlink kit, it connects perfectly wirelessly but there’s no audio, I can’t play music, there’s no sound everything else works fine, thus what could be the issue?
But unless they know about it by sending them a support ticket on the issue it won’t get fixed.
i have carlinkit 4.0 but can't connection with mg hs just connecting not connected
Sounds like compatibility with your system. Send a ticket to the support team and they might offer a fix in a future update.
I bought one for my Jaguar and it works brilliantly I then bought one foe a Mitsubishi L200 S5 Barbarian and it wont connect any thoughts
Compatibility most likely. Not all vehicles are equal. So what might work for one might not work for another, as you have found out 😞
I have an android stereo in my car but doesn’t work ? Any advice?
If your android stereo can have android apps installed onto it then you’ll need a different dongle. Like this one ruclips.net/video/s7DaSaKFaEM/видео.html
Hi,
Can you please help me with best Wireless android auto adapter.
I use mostly Android phone. But is there a adapter that supports both Wireless android auto and Wireless apple carplay?
My car factory infotainment display support. Only wired android auto and wired apple carplay.
How can i change it to Wireless for both android phones and iphones?
A dongle like this will do that. Any 2in1 CarPlay adapter. ruclips.net/p/PLysOHeJ5BkMg33wdDBIfm8EZ-soKiT2CD use your android auto wirelessly thought a CarPlay connection.
Which dongle is the fastest and also fairly stable? Need a dongle for my pioneer sph-da250
If you just want wireless CarPlay I would look at the TNVTEC(AutoBox), U2-Air. But buy from Amazon as I hear the pioneers can be quite picky as to what works with them.
@@CarPlayLife Do they support multiple users ?
Hello,i Show a Lot of Videos of your Reviews, what is the best Box for wireless Android Auto and Screen mirroring? And to use my own Apps Like IPTV
You’ll need an android AI Box for all that. So check out the CarLinkit TBox V3 or better is a dongle that features a QC655 chipset inside with 4GB of RAM.
@@CarPlayLife the MIC Box ist the best ?or better another ai Box?
The MIC only has single BT, so because of that it isn’t the best. The options for QC665 AI Boxes are slim right now but that will grow over time.
@@CarPlayLife which one then?
I’ll tell you when one exists 😂
Android user. With a 2018 jeep wrangler JLU, with Uconnect 7inch screen. I saw this on an Amazon review, but when attempting to connect the screen become static green. I see at the bottom it appears like its trying to connect the phone as an iPhone because it says carplay, instead of android auto. Does anyone know how to force it to launch as android auto and maybe that might fix it. If not this was a fat waste of money
It should auto connect to any device that was previously paired and in range. The icons bottom left of the boot menu are just images they are not buttons like the Ottocast u2-x which is a button to toggle between AA and CP but that isn’t the cast on this 4.0 dongle from CarlinKit
what if my car does not support android auto or apple carplay, will it work for me? toyota camry 2018
No this needs CarPlay to operate.
Having problem with Google assistant when connected. "Hey Google" and it freezes. Any suggestions to fix? Thanks
@@CarPlayLife thank you! I have contacted their support and it is 2nd week I am trying to get some help( They can reply only once a working day so it is taking so much time to fix it(
What system/stereo are you using the dongle on that urged you to apply the update?
@@CarPlayLife I am using my Samsung s21 plus to connect to Volvo v90 2019. Car identified dongle as CarPlay device only and Carlinkit support advised me to update the Hardware
I’ve spoken to CarLinkit about this.
drive.google.com/file/d/1KF56KCKMU4UmLdi1hayN2ZLsAZBGWx0A/view?usp=sharing
This update file is meant to fix the hardware WiFi/bt error and also sound compatibility issue with Sony headunits on the 4.0 dongle (this is not for 3.0 dongles).
Just got this this morning, android auto doesn't work properly it looks like the screen is melting as all the icons droop and the app crashes. It works better with car play, with the only issue being I can't control the volume when playing music on Spotify, RUclips music etc. My car is a 2017 Mercedes GLA
That sounds so weird. Melt down 🫣
@@CarPlayLife yup, in android auto mode my screen looks like an oil painting where all the paint has ran 🤷♂️CP seems fine though apart from the fact that I can't adjust the volume when using RUclips music which may be a deal breaker in itself.
I have one like this, I have a problem to solve. I have a Jeep Compass 2020 Carlinkit does not transmit full screen, screen gets smaller, Android auto.
Sounds like a compatibility issue. I don’t think this can be fixed without a future update. Let their support team know about this and they might be able to fix it in a future update.
Which is better in your opinion, this (Carlinkit 4.0) or U2-X? Especially in terms of the performance.
Is it support screen mirroring
No not this dongle
its work for bmw x1 2021 software ID 6 ?! and thanks
Sorry I can’t say. Buy it off Amazon and try it. Easy returns if it doesn’t.
Carlinkit 3.0 vs U2-Now you win?
Atoto AD3 vs U2-Air you win?
Can you test Vrriis wireless? Thx
1. U2-Now
2. Same thing inside, so no difference other than price, casing shape and boot menu style
3. I'll try and get one in for review, but it looks like a rebranded DAYO based software dongle ruclips.net/video/FjOppSef_NU/видео.html
@@CarPlayLife I contacted Vrriis and they told me that the Wifi chip uses AIC8800, AIC8800 seems to use WIFI6 specification
Interesting! I’ve reached out and we’re trying to work out a way to get hold of one for review.
@@CarPlayLife I already bought one, sadly uses WiFi6 chip but runs WiFi5G band
Is this more stable than the 3.0 version? what dongle do you suggest for stability with carplay only, Thanks in advance
I’d go with either U2-Air ruclips.net/video/kmuu1q1bKqM/видео.html, TNVTEC/Zetzeade AutoBox ruclips.net/video/yxEHa_-usGI/видео.html, or ATOTO AD3WCP ruclips.net/video/5Fgm53Xt_pA/видео.html
It doesnt work with android. Just got it, trying to connect but the bluetooth id, the red button is empty and cannot connect.
Are you running android 11 or newer?
@@CarPlayLife Yes. Android 12 on samsung fold 4. But i dont even get to the part to connect my phone. The bluetooth screen when you have that red button and settings in the button, where Bluetooth ID should prezent it's empty
@@CarPlayLife CMID is empty
If nothing is working on your CarPlay display prior to pairing BT, it sounds like there is a compatibility issue with the Dongle and your carplay system.
@@CarPlayLife The display works but the BT data is empty
Will it work on a Boss aftermarket
Sorry, I can't say about that one. Best to buy from Amazon so you can easily return it if it does not work on the Boss.
@@CarPlayLife I’m in UK and thank you for such a quick reply
Hello, does this work with SYNC 3?
It might if the earlier ones did.
does it allow you to watch youtube or netflix ?
Not this one you’ll want what’s called an AI Box type of dongle.
