I have some asterisks to point out as 4+yrs SolidWorks user with experience with Inventor, Creo, Catia and SolidEdge, and I absolutely don't understand the SolidWorks cheerleaders down in the comments. I'm patching through SolidWorks bugs in our company with 55 licenses to our VAR, typical response from DSS is "not replicable", "feature not implementet fully, so not a bug", "why do you need 1 micron precision?" etc..
* 0:20 Notice how the demonstration is both sped up and cut, so you can't see, that the 20 second clip takes 5 minutes to make
* 0:32 Notice, the pattern feature was not used, as that can't handle this complex geometry
* 0:45 Modify dimensions precisely? Yes. Getting the geometry based on those dimensions? Not necessarily. When asked why does the resulting geometry differ from the sketch, I was first told by DSS (through VAR), if we really care for 0,001mm difference as it is so small. When I replied that I care for 1 micron, I was told that the set of inputs is too specific for them to care, that the feature does not match the sketch.
* 0:48 but since after modyfying last feature, the whole model is generally rebuilt, dragging dimensions like that is not realistically useful in other than the simpliest models.
* 0:53 There is no AI in this edgepicker or anywhere in SW for that matter.
* 1:00 Extensive libraries? Yes. Are these numbers correct? No. Are they user modifiable? Some of them. So either useless, or only after quite a lot of work. I've just spent last week making Helicoil libraries match the catalogue. Practically all Helicoil dimensions within toolbox are off or completely wrong plus, they use some secret formulas behind the courtain, because "Thread depth" is not how deep the thread will go (It is related to this value, but not only)
* 1:03 All threads are marked as 6H no matter what when you pull the annotation in the drawing
* 1:20 If you and your colleague both use smart fasteners from toolbox you're in for a surprise replacement of all the hardware with the largest one in the database (All bolts in the project were replaced by M64s when he opened the assembly)
* 1:40 It is not recommended to use assemblies larger than 10 parts/subassemblies by our VAR. It is strongly recommended not to exceed 30 parts/subassemblies in and assembly by our VAR.
* 1:55 After years Solidworks still does not follow set 1st/3rd degree projection with isometric views generated this way.
* 2:00 Hole callouts and especially threads don't work 80% of the time. Just try it on something mirrored or after body split command.
* 2:12 Did you know, that BOM number and the number in balloon does not have to match? I sure do after working in SolidWorks
* 2:22 God protect you if you do not use their cloud, because otherwise file not being available because you yourself protect it against modification, open assembly read-only, but parts out of it for write as default, timeout drops etc. not working properly makes multiuser environment a breeze. (Hey Tim, just calling you from around the world. Didn't you by accident open that master assembly drawing? You did? Whew, that means that you have write access to the whole project, including the bracket 742 I just modified. You switched to read only? Perfect. Still does not work. You closed it completely wasting 30 minutes opening it? Still does not work.)
3:40 But you have to create your library of fittings with connecting points first, why would DSS bother. Even if they did, they'd do it wrong like Helicoils.
I love solidworks. It has it's quirks but it really is so powerfull and intuitive to use!
👍
Simply easy to learn, simply the best on the market cost benefits.
Marvelous introduction😊
So beauty. I was wondering if you could share the system requirements of the computer used for SolidWorks in the video.
Keep going ❤
I love Solidworks, I really do. The community is great, the features are nice, and for most of the time it works! But MY GOD do they want to cash out on every little penny you have! I'm not paying thousands of dollars / year to be "up to date" with features I never asked for. I'm also not paying for disaster insurance which is what the support from VAR is. If I have to pay a few grand in cash for the licence + a yearly subscription, I want more than a flashy video every year showing me how great the software is. 90% of the time I can do my job just as well with version 2015 of Solidworks, as I would with 2023.
We are sorry that you are frustrated. If you are looking to make any suggestions please check out our community for SOLIDWORKS Enhancements:

@@solidworks Here's a suggestion: lower the price! Otherwise, If you want me to make suggestions on how to improve Solidworks - you'll have to pay me!
I love those demonstrations
Where is the data stored on the 3DExperience? Will there be a limit on the size of the data that can be stored on the 3DExperience? TIA
Hi there! A great place to start for direct support would be our SWX User Forum: solidworks.com/UserForum or go.3ds.com/swforum
What is the background music in this video?
Are the new 3D Experience Web Based features integrating or replacing typical PDM features?
PDM is typically on local servers, I am curious what costs come with having Dassault host your IP.
We’re actively looking at a multi facility solution for sharing and controlling approvals on designs, PDM standard proved to be far too limited and finding a reseller that had any appreciable knowledge before purchasing the software was unsuccessful. The only way we could find actual input on capability differences between PDM standard and Professional was once I was assigned an integrator who promptly asked, “Why on earth would you buy standard over pro….?”
We have a great team of SOLIDWORKS experts well versed in technical aspects of the software. They would love to help you out. We can also direct you to our support form here, where requests are triaged and responded to by our team: www.3ds.com/online-store/support-form/
Yay SOLIDWORKS!
i love solidworks.
It doesn’t exist PDM anymore? Or you guys replace the name of it?

we need free version....
Hi there! If you're looking to buy a SOLIDWORKS commercial version, the best way is to contact a local authorized reseller. You can check out the page here: www.solidworks.com/how-to-buy/find-solidworks-reseller

Solid Edge has a free version and makes work more efficient with Synchronous technology. I used solidworks for 10 years and saw no improvement in this regard. It remains sketch-based and is very bad and not intuitive with surfaces.
@@anConker I know bro... SolidEdge is really good cad software compared to others.

Seriously, the last time I bought a license of solidworks was on 2011, and you're still bleating on about the same fantastic drawing features. The whole reason I left solidworks was because of the fact you promise untested features and only fix through feedback from paying users. Its not the markets responsibility to do your unit testing. Your drawing features should be almost self done, but they are still very user heavy. No sale
Which cad do you prefer instead?
An affordable version is missing 😐

Mr.Solidworks can i get a thumbs up or heart reply too?
Why do we always have to have the annoying background music ?
Agree
How can i get one for free?
Hi! If your school qualifies, you may be eligible for a free license from your professor. Please reach out to your professor for the appropriate SEK-ID or SDK-ID code and instructions on how to obtain your free license. This would be a download you would request from this site: www.solidworks.com/SEK. To get the download, you will need the code and will have to provide your email address. Otherwise you can purchase a copy of the Student Edition here: www.solidworks.com/studentstore
Just remember not to buy a version that does have SP5, or the features promised probably won't work. ie.. marketing is a pain in the ass for users
I laughed at 1.34. as if SolidWorks could work correctly with such a chain of connections in the cable laying model))). This promotional video probably took a month to make))
Which VP said, “MENTION AI EVEN IF IT ISNT REAL”
🤩
AI voice?? Really??
Can you put the video in Spanish?
nor doing anybody a Solidworks
