    Thanks for the video! - I have been needing to change the cabin filters in my S500. I used the Advanced Auto Parts links that you provided and with a coupon and my Speed Perks points, all 4 only cost me $40.08 (including tax) - Thanks again for a great video! - It looks like a straight forward, easy install.

    Hello thanks 🙏 for the video help.
    On the lower carbon air filters, do you recall which orientation the rounded & square fits ?
    I stupidly tossed the old ones, forgot how they went in & the new ones, WIX #24778, are exact size but have foam edges for uber tight fit.
    So now head scratcher on which one fits in which cavity & which angle goes fore or aft.
    Thanks for any input !
    PS: 24 year old e320 Wagon & carbon ones were original.
    Ive owned car 10 years & didn't realize they were there til just recently.
    I did swap main cabin filters behind glovebox 8 years back.

    • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail  8 месяцев назад +1

      I remember they had a shape that made them fit only one way. Yes it was tight. Had to squeeze them in. I don’t think you can place them in the wrong way really. Yeah, ours had same carbon filter since it was bought. No service ever done on that.
      Great car. Love those wagons. Just maintain it and it’ll last you a long time. I’m looking at a 300CE tomorrow. Wish me luck!!!

      Great quick reply thanks Brother.
      I did finally figure it out:
      The larger squarer one, closest to console (L side).
      The smaller rounded corner one to its Right.
      Face removal tabs downwards.
      On my WIX #24778, the airflow arrows faced wrong direction but ya got no choice as plastic frames fit only 1 way.
      Yes your sedan is / was quite beautiful.
      Still have it ? Miles are ?
      Yes we love this w210 wagon it's got 266k miles at 24 years old very solid still.
      I do have a newer 2018 Buick Regal TourX / aka Opel Insignia Wagon - made in Germany no less it's AWD and a worthy successor to the e320 Wagon.
      Have you seen a TourX in your area ?
      Thanks - David in Texas
      I'll sub you - show your 300CE if you buy it.
      Turbodiesel Coupe ?

      No. Ours drowned during the last hurricane. Wasn’t worth rebuilding. Too many electronics gone bad. And I just got a $260 battery before that.
      I’ve seen the Buick station wagons around here. They look really cool. The problem our laws don’t really allow for wagons. SUVs are exempt from all the regulations that apply to cars and sports cars. So nothing new really going to come here. But that’s okay no really don’t like new cars right now. Nothing good out there. Best bet is to get something a bit older, bring it back to life.
      Im so sick of all those non button buttons, those LCD screens, and don’t get me started on that start stop garbage. A good old car will do and if you get/have an older German car, it’ll be about as save as anything new out there. That being said, I’m building a Miata with my daughter right now. Just dropped in a new engine, gotta get it probably out again :/
      Good luck with your wagon. Great choice.

      Very cool but bummer about your drowned w210 !
      Hurricane are you in Florida or Caribbean islands ?
      What laws prevent wagon ownership ?
      I'm WITH YOU on being against "OverTech" junk - probably this '18 TourX violates it too - but I inherited it & have been testing it since October - I can turn most all the Tech off if I want too.
      Adaptive cruise is cool as it keeps safe distance.
      I've been spoiled by the MB road manners & handling, and the TourX has a very Toutonic feel - Id say handles equal to the MB but better due to 76k miles so 200,000 less.
      It's GM 2.0 LTG Turbo 4 is a remarkable 295 HP engine too, extremely powerful yet frugal on gas

      I’m in Florida. Wagons go by the same way sedans and sports cars are tested for fuel mileage. Pickup trucks and SUVs are except from that. That’s why you see so many SUVs in the road in the US and barely any in Europe or really anywhere else in the world. My wife’s SUV is cheaper to insure and I pay less for my registration every year compared to my Chrysler 200. It’s insane. We should be paying less because lighter cars damage less roads and use less fuel. But…..

    Thanks Turbo Snail... I changed out the cabin filters behind the glove box and I noticed that when I reinstalled glove box it wouldn't stay shut. To fix it I had to adjust/turn the knob on the release cable (the cable that makes it open) to give it more play because when you reinstall the glove box it bends the cable... All is well now... I had to stop in the middle of the job because of the sudden Florida rain storm... LOL

      I’m glad you got it done. Thanks for sharing. Now you gotta do the carbon filters. Most people don’t change them. It made a big difference in Dominic’s car. His were still the original ones from 14 years ago!!!

    • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail  5 лет назад

      @@marshallw.6343 Yes it may. Your carbon filters are probably old and maybe, just maybe there might be some mold that attached to it. Remember, they are like sponges. Now, you can try this: amzn.to/2BRVsVG or amzn.to/348ogW3. I've done it on this S500 when we bought it.
      Now, be careful as the carbon filters want to filter everything out. What I would do (a bit of a pain in the ass), remove the carbon filters, reassemble, bomb the car with 2 cans of that stuff, then re-install the carbon filters. Its a big cabin and you don't want this to get filtered out in the carbon filters.
      Do the cans in succession, not at the same time. Let me know if that worked.

    I have a 02 S500 and I've noticed that the cabin filter from the dealer doesn't come with the foam on the outer sides of the filter. Not sure if I should buy Mann or buy one from the dealership. I've seen some reviews on Amazon stating that the foam on the Mann filter makes for a difficult fit.

    • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail  4 года назад +1

      it's a bit snug with the foam on the side. I doubt it makes a difference. One thing I noticed was that the previous owner didn't change the filter in a long time, so when I pulled the filter out the foam dissolved and ended up in the vent system. I kept pulling pieces out for the next few weeks. Since then we changed the filters regularly and there was no such issue. I like the Mann filters, they seem good. Don't forget those carbon filters, well worth it.

      I love MB cars & SUVs but man they over-compexify designs, as bad as can be.
      I'm actually enjoying my new (to me) Opel Insignia / Regal TourX partly because despite its AWD & later model design, it's significantly simpler in many design aspects, while sporting a German vibe & handling.

    Saved me $400 big ones, mb specialist wanted $225 for the carbon set and $50 for the other set + labor, quick search; aftermarket carbon set $40(!!!!) + $12 for the other set, so $60 incl shipping and I'm done. But come on Mercedes is just bragging with 4 filters just for the cabin, on the other had, if I understand correctly you can drive through a toxic gas cloud with the carbon filter on and it would filter everything out.

    • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail  3 года назад +1

      I’m not sure about that toxic gas cloud. I think it’s more about filtering the volume. One thing I find when people get in an s class is that they want more air even tho the fan is already at max. The air comes through but is quiet. People associate loud fan noise with the fan blowing more air. Mercedes accomplishes that with a different way. I think part of it is why you need 2 filters. A bigger air pipe, covering more area with less noise. Either way, those carbon filters do work. Going near a garbage dump, it seems to filter out everything.
      Im glad you saved some money! I hope this video was useful.

    That's a messy job! Be very careful with the glove box cable, try to avoid taking the cable out. Cause when you do you may not be able to open the glove box. Check before closing the button for opening the glove box, if it really pulls the cable enough. For the lower filters prepare to spend more than half hour. The sliding caps are a challenge. I don't recommend doing this if the garage charges less than 100 bucks. For the upper filter Mann offers frecious plus versions, which are the best available on the market. Good luck for those who wanna give a try for this job doing by their own and schedule all together more than one hour. If the glove box doesn't open anymore after this, you got to get a L-shaped 15inch thin cable and reach the lock from the gap on the right side of the glove box removing the triangle cover prior.

    • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail  4 года назад +1

      It's not that hard to get that cable to route back the same way it came from.
