I Apologize for the echo!!!!🙏🙏🙏 Something happened in post production that I couldn't fix!!! I didn't want to go back and rerecord a fake a reaction and also didn't want to deprive you guys of the content that was good so I humbly apologize again. When it starts to echo you can skip to the Cool Cat portion of the Video!!!!
No problem man! amazing video :) And back then £50 was a hell of a lot of money still :) now in the decimal £ (pound) £50 is probably about $70-$75 but it'd be the same back in the USA, $50 would be a lot during that time
Don't worry about it man. Stuff happens xD It was still a great reaction xD
The Matthews Fam you should react to Seven seas of rhye by queen live at the rainbow 1974 or In the lap of the gods by queen live at the rainbow 1974 ( I know you’ve already reacted to in the lap of the gods revisited but I’m talking about the “in the lap of the gods” written for the sheer heart attack album that includes roger taylor’s crazy falsetto) or maybe Doing alright by queen live at earls court 1977 Please!!!!
The Matthews Fam or spread your wings!!!
Fact !
Cool Cat is easily one of their most underrated. Really shows their diversity and how easily they could own R&B
Right!
That sick azz bass helps....helps a lot actually 🤔😅😅
Just Freddie and john the other two dont like this style
Uhhh there are so many other cool Queen facts😂😱 I cannot believe they didn’t include them.. for example
-that Queens „greatest Hits“ album is the so far best selling album in GB and that it stayed in the charts for 9.5 god damn years
-they’re actually the only band worldwide in which every band member wrote at least one no. 1 hit
-they hold the world record for the longest fanclub of all time
-that Freddie never learned how to drive a car, how to swim or ..how to use a microwave
- that the girlfriend of the video producer for the „I want to break free“ music vid thought he has a love affair on set because Roger looked so convincing in drag as a naughty school girl
-That Freddie and Roger had a little shop at kensington market where they sold mostly stolen clothes and once even sold David Bowie a pair of leather shoes before all of them were even famous
And so on .. *man there’s too much* 😂🙌🏻
yeah and I really love Cool Cat .. just a chill song🤟🏻😌
I knew he never drove a car... I heard that he took 2 lessons when he was young and then decided it was boring. Certainly don't need to drive in London where public transport is a far better way to get around. Not surprised about the microwave, they only came out in the 80's and Freddie didn't do his own cooking. By then he had a chef. But I am surprised about the swimming! I stayed in Zanzibar for some time, and everyone swam! It's a small island surrounded by water, and kids are in it as soon as they can walk really. Saw tons of great natural swimmers. However, I guess it's possible that Freddie's parents did not allow him in the water. They were from India and most Indians (huge generalisation) don't know how to swim. It's not in their culture. Still surprised he managed to grow up in Zanzibar with no swimming. Makes me sad, the water there is divine. BTW: for anyone who wants to know, Zanzibar is amazing. A tropical island paradise with an amazing history. Tropical jungles, white pure sand, the ocean side protected by coral reefs. The water is so clear and clean, it is completely transparent no matter how deep! I'll never forget it. And yes, I did visit Freddie's childhood home. It is a multi-storey arabic style courtyard house in Stone Town. You can walk around the entire town. The main language is Swahili and they are very proud speakers of it. They also speak English as a second language as Zanzibar was a British protectorate for many years before it received independence in early 1960's and then joined with mainland Tanganyika to become modern day Tanzania. Zanzibaris are still proudly distinct from mainland Tanzanians however.
It is truly an island that seems enchanted. Maybe it influenced some of the imagery of Freddie's early songs?
juliact omg ur answer is pure🙌🏻 Hmm yeah the swimming thing.. maybe it’s also because most of the time he lived at the boarding school in India so it would fit pretty well with the „Indians- don’t-swim“ thing😂 and yeah ur right about the microwave thing🤔 tho but to be honest it still just sounds kinda ridiculous 😂 and is a pretty sweet fun fact😉
uhhh Zanzibar..🥰😱 sounds beautiful as hell I want to visit so badly ...😓😭 🌊🌺🦚🏝🗻 hell yas!!
Ahhh a woman who is a true fan like me, live and breath Queen. I have been a member of the fan club since 1991, I got my membership package on morning of 25th November 1991 moments after I heard of Freddies death, irony kicks you in the balls sometimes.
Freddie called Sid Vicious, Simon Ferocious and shoved him out of the studio where they were recording. One of my favorite stories about Queen. As Roger says, Sid was a real ass.
Actually called Sid an idiot and a moron lol
Interesting fact - not a funny one but related to one fact mentioned - Freddie, Brian, John and Roger very quietly visited the family of the person stabbed at a concert in Scotland, I thought it was very respectful and also brave. News of the visit was not 'leaked' which was also pretty amazing. This happened in my town, it was a long time before I found out about it. I do remember the shock at the time, it was unheard of to have this kind thing happen at concerts. 🌹🌹💖
Obsidianred thank you for that info... I never knew that... more reason to love them!
really? so you never heard about teddy boys end of the 50s early 60s rockers??? they loved their knives...
Cool Cat was awesome! I had never heard it, and I'm blown away how they smashed that soul sound! I just love Marvin Gaye etc so right up my alley. Can't believe just how diverse Queen were! Can't really understand how Brian and Roger didn't like it. Guess it's just not their thing. So glad Freddie did that. So amazing to hear a whole song of falsetto. Freddie, you're still messing with the beat of my heart! ;)
i saw the statue in Montreaux, Switzerland, changing trains between Paris & Florence, Italy. One of the coolest surprises of the entire trip.
I'd suggest Back Chat, also from the Hot Space album. I really enjoy the album, although I know it's a touchy subject in the fanbase. Fun fact, aside from some electric piano, John Deacon played every instrument on this song (as well as Back Chat) and co-wrote the song with Freddie.
Now be honest L, if you didn't know that was Freddie Mercury singing would you really have guessed it was Freddie Mercury? When I first heard it I did a double take and said whoa did they put the wrong record in there? WHAT the hell? THAT is so 😎, the entire song in falsetto. I'm telling you, I've said it a hundred times before, that man has a falsetto to-die-for and you know what, screw you Barry Gibb cuz Freddie got a falsetto that can compete with yours. OH MY GOD. It blew me away when I first heard it.
Sorry, knew we were in some BS here after the early “fact” that Brian lost the red special....utter tripe, he’s never lost or misplaced it, it’s that important to him it even goes with him on planes, never in the hold! he’s been using it constantly since it’s construction & although he also uses replicas the Red Special is used at every concert etc. Not sure why people make these kind of videos when old fans are out here & know how inaccurate they are
Try documentaries like “days of our lives” “magic years”, “champions of the world” or “Freddie Mercury, the untold story”
Glad you enjoyed Cool Cat...again showing Queens different styles
that's that late night windows down full moon freeway ridin music right there playboy! Oooooooooooooohhhhh Freddie was a bad man with them vocals.... Queen never fails me!
Cool Cat - all soul! Motown sound. Freddie’s falsetto is amazing and he has my heart. Oh man, such a cool cat himself.
The Red Special was never lost. So knock that off the "facts" list. That's been guarded like a newborn. Also too bad they didn't give the background on how he built it with his dad out of old wood (maybe from a fireplace mantle?), part of a knitting needle, motorcycle valves, etc.
bbbfst agreed, as far as I know Brian has NEVER let it stray far from his person unless his tech has it. It’s far too sentimental
Your right. Brian said in a interview that somebody stole the white guitar what Freddie used im Crazy Little Thing Called Love
@@nataliebagshaw2773 well, Fred used that guitar only live 1984-1986
We got to get you a "cool cat" t-shirt😊😊😊Who want to live forever LIVE at Wembly please😉
Not every man can attain real Cool Cat status. Freddie was (of course) the Ultimate Cool Cat. But you definitely make the meter jump, L...way up!
Speaking of cool, you gotta take a step back & listen to the Official Lyric Video of "Dragon Attack". And "Gimme the Prize". Brian does some scorching work on both of those.
And you'll make a lot of us happy by doing "Now I'm Here" Hammersmith 1979 (the one posted by Chief Mouse for better quality). It captures the feel of their shows in concert halls before the big stadium shows, and a sort of transition time period between 70's Queen & early 80's Queen.
Damn right!! Us British people aren’t only known as tea and crumpets!!
Cool Cat 😎😎😎 Yeeees !!!!! Thanks man !!!!! I told you that joint is perfect ))
For a complete contrast in styles, try ‘was it all worth it?’ Its rocking..!!
This song is soooo underappreciated. It is one of my favorites. Thank you for realizing how amazing John and Freddie were on this!
First time I heard it I didn't believe it was Queen, and a good thing they made it that way too!
Love your enthusiasm ! Would love to hear from the Hot Space Album.... please do Las Palabras De Amor (the words of love) Freddie in Tux and great lyrics and one of
my favorites The Miracle , where look alike kids fill in for Queen , another powerful song.
I will say some facts are strongly correct, but some are also falsely given.
I’ve been waiting forever for the Cool Cat reaction! Ahhhhh! I love to chill out to that song! ☺️💞
They didn't tell the llama story! Freddie's collaboration with MJ fizzled out because he couldn't get used to trying to record with Michael's pet llama in the studio with them, which Michael insisted on having there in his home studio. That's the way Freddie & a couple of other people described it. They got along well but that got in the way of finishing their efforts. There is that one simple ballad they did. It's pretty but only hints at what might've been accomplished.
Deborah Cornell They also did two other songs... One was "State of Shock" which Mike got Mick Jaeger to redo cause Queen was on tour and Freddie's schedule wouldn't allow for it. And the other was "Victory." This song ended-up on the Jackson's Victory LP.
Lamar, if you want royal, pompous and majestic song - try The March of the black Queen. If you want drama, love and spectacle - try It's a hard life, but if you want one of the 3 heaviest Queen songs, Brian May's guitars sounding like Scottish bagpipes and song about badass villain - try Gimme the Prize (Kurgan's theme)
Love these longer videos from you! Several reactions in one. You're by far the best reaction channel for all things Queen! GO L!!!
Another Queen song in which Freddie sings in falsetto (I believe) is Pain is so close to pleasure (from I Kind of Magic album). I've read somewhere, that Freddie sounds in Pain is so close to pleasure like Gibbs brothers from Bee Gees :))
FINALLY!!!! I knew you would enjoy Cool Cat 😻
Now that you've done cool cat you've got to do 39. Give me something good to listen to and watch when I come home from the hospital tomorrow
To modify #33 Roger said in an interview that the “No synthesisers!” disclaimer was used on their second album Queen II because for their debut album Brian had used a lot of specific harmony guitars, which was a fairly new technique, and reviewers said that there was “excellent use of synthesizers here!”.... Meanwhile it was all done on guitar and pure genius that was Dr Brian May! 🙌🏻... 💙💙💙💙
Thank You!! I listen to this on repeat Freddie's voice is amazing!!
Some of the facts was correct, and some of them incorrect. And I still want you to react to Breakthru please :P Cool cat is a very underrated song, tbh the entire Hot Space album is underrated, I love that they went for something different. You can't really put Queen into one genre, eventhough they leaned more towards rock.
I think Hot Space album was underrated too. I like most of the songs on the album. I think the album wasn't accepted at the time because it was an entire r& b/dance music. If they had split up the album by putting 1 or 2 of the songs over several albums, the songs would have been better received.--Tammy
@@mrjay8723 People didn't like Queen trying something new. They wanted them to stay like they were. I for one loved that they experimented. But I also understand why they went back to doing the more rocky stuff. And the last albums was amazing. I just can't say anything bad about Queen. :P
@@Fluffyburns With you on that.
I love cool cat so much like WOW! It really goes to show John's taste in music and how wonderful music sounds when him and Freddie work together! Wish deaky got more credit for this song!
Also, Cool Cat was amazing
Cool Cat.. there’s a squirrel outside my garage and even he’s slow swaying to that smooooth ass jam.
I never heard this before! Loved it
Freddie sang the original version of Under Pressure in falsetto, while Bowie sang his part deeper. Later in live shows Freddie sang both parts in his more customary voice. And to think his natural singing voice is a warm, rich baritone! It's on full display in Barcelona & How Can I Go On from Freddie's Barcelona album. The opera star Sra. Caballet loved his voice & said he could have been a major opera star, given opera training. She raved about the quality of his voice e & how he could use it.
As to fact #38, "learning Japanese" will lead you towards your next reaction - *Teo Torriatte (Let us cling together)* in which the message is indeed suitable in todays messed up world! 💞☮️💞
I'll never stop being bothered by the wrong spelling of the title of that song. It should be "Te wo toriatte" (手をとりあって).
@@tsukigalleta Sue the management! 😉
Still would like a reaction to it 😁😁💖💖🌹
@@user-me6un7ih3r LOL! I'll think about it
@@obsidianred9833 Me too, I love it!
Please react to Friends will be Friends and Play the Game😁😁thanks and I always live your reactions. Now a true Queen fan. You are one of us now, The Queen/Freddie Mercury Fan Club👏👏👏👏
Kevin Meyers....And if you want a " COOL " Queen tune that is funky and has a Reggae island feel mixed with a modern pop rock power and positive, happy and chill melody with the most epic, FAT, PUNCHY guitar solo inserts,...check out, " RAIN MUST FALL " from " The Miracle " album. React to that brother.
Dang. I was psyched to see the image on the screen when I clicked as it was the opening of Dragon Attack at The Bowl. Oh well. :-P
“Queen -Party Tracks” for fans put out by Queen. You’ve done many of videos, but a few songs you haven’t: You Don’t Fool Me, Seven Seas of Rhye, Dancer, You and I, My Baby Does Me. It has 21 videos on it.
You Don’t Fool Me
One of Freddie’s jackets did sell for over $80,000.00
Pls react to it’s a hard life by queen or now I’m here by queen music vidoe by queen
Hi Michelle Varas Yes please me too. I love both of these. 💖💖🌹🌹🌹😁😁
Michelle Varas It’s a hard life.. to be for two lovers together
Although not considered a "traditional Queen sounding album", I liked it. Check out "Back Chat", "Las Palabras de Amor", "It's a Hard Life", "Dancer" and "Put out the Fire".
Cool cat is pure monttow , Freddie the best voice of the world, bass of deacky guitar May, drums , all perfect! This is Queen ladies and gentlemens 🎵🎤🎹🎼👏👏👏💕💕💕💕🇧🇷🥰
Fact #4 is wrong! Brian didn't lose The Red Special; he used it in most of the recordings (only a couple where he used a different). How did they get that wrong? BTW, Brian wrote a book on the Red Special which I have read and can give you a complete history, and the breakdown of that guitar. As for songs, so many more good ones for you to react to. As for jackets, Freddie had different ones on different tours. For instance, he also had a white and red one that was like that yellow jacket. Hot Space tour had a cool white with black arrows and black with red arrows). What amazes me when you look at their tour schedule, how could he consistently sing that much?
I love that Deaky & Freddie followed through, & got it done!
re: Fact about where Freddie wrote "Crazy little thing called love". I saw an interview where he himself said he was in a bar when it came to him. He asked for a guitar to be brought to him, and said the bar was so crowded he hardly had any space to play, but he got it out using his 4 guitar chords.
You have to watch George Michael singing Somebody to Love, and, Annie Lennox and David Bowie singing Under Pressure. Both at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.
If you like a good guitar solo, check out Brighton Rock live from Wembley 1986. Brian May is able to make one guitar sound like three guitars. Don't ask me how ... But a guitar that sounds like a V8 in one second and bird twitter the next minute is rather interesting in my ears. One man, one guitar. (Mercury is backstage for a drink and change clothes).
Love the cool cat...takes me back to the 50's when cool was born. (Yeah, check out Miles Davis & Chet Baker) I Googled "Brian May doctoral dissertation" & found this: "The completed thesis appears as the book "A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud" (Springer and Canopus Publishing Ltd., 2008)." I know y'all are just going to rush right out and buy it. No?
Also, the Queen store has a small replica of the Montreux statue available.
you need to react to Lap of the gods by Queen, live at the rainbow ‘74
it’s incredible!
/swoon
You were saying something at the beginning of the 107 facts....and I think you missed that Brian May, with his father helping, BUILT the electric guitar, called, " The Red Special" out of wood from a 100 year old fireplace mantle and other household items laying around. He has used that guitar exclusively, on EVERY Queen album and 99.9 % of all Queen songs, till TODAY...and plays it now live and on recordings. The guitar is argued to be the BEST sounding electric guitar in all of rock music and has a special set of electronic switches allowing for 20 or so uniquely different sounds. May is a genius. And related to that....there was an Epic GLARING error on the 107 Queen facts. May's home built Red Special guitar, that I just mentioned, was never lost!!! Never!!! The guitar that was lost and then returned magically, decades later, was a little acoustic guitar Brian May had when young. Anyhow...just FYI bro.
OMG finally I been requesting this song forever unfortunately lam at work and have to wait another 6 hrs to watch.
As an avid Queen fan since 1974 when I was in high school, I have to agree with Brian and Roger; this song isn't what Queen was known for singing. HOWEVER, Freddie does a great Motown and/or R&B vocalization with "Cool Cat". It's a great song to dance to back in its day. I love hearing Freddie's falsetto~~extraordinaire.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET...REACT TO QUEEN'S LIVE AID PERFORMANCE...BTW...LOVE YOUR REACTIONS.♥️♥️♥️
please play Somebody to Love live at the Bowl Milton Keynes,Freddie does a beautiful piano intro, the audience was very involved, plus it was an open air concert, the Montreal one is fine but it is a shadow of Milton Keynes.
L Love your hat.... Northern California fan here go Giants 🧡🖤
Image used for the Bo Rhap video in 1975 not 1976! They filmed the video in three hours and everyone was in the pub by 22.30! First purpose made band video ever created!
Love Cool Cat......Freddie could sing anything!!
The Backchat album was slated at its time of release but I love it, looking back on it now there are fabulous songs in it as Back Chat has shown here. The band were in turmoil at this point and began to hate each other but they got through it thankfully. Freddies vocal is so pure and in this song very high, I think he had the pliers handy to reach those very high notes.
In 10 minutes in fact ...."Crazy little thing called love"
Mjauuu cool cat tipping on the thoe with a knew hat......omg I LOVE that song 😽 your a cool cat react...lol
Whaaat?!? Freddie’s iconic crown was about 64,395 U.S. Dollars 🤯🤯🤯
They weren’t talking abut the crown he wore, I don’t think... but rather about the crown -shaped lighting rig that lit the stage
Ahhhh okay. Lol I was gonna say, “Wow!” Lol
I think they are up to about 300 million records sold now
3 to 4....Maybe more. No one will ever know.
Jason Williams Yes - it’s pretty irrelevant now. Just read that BR has been streamed 1.6 billion times😳
@@RichardLaurence Not irrelevant at the time ££££££. Always surprised record sales were not counted in those days.
50 Pound sterling is 64.35 in U.S. Dollars 😮
Which is equivalent to about $400/worth in 1970 money.
Lord Elpus wowwww! 😮
Okay. I’ve literally listened to everyone of your Queen Reactions multiple times. I have also liked, made requests, gave little tidbits of info, subscribed and shared with my Boys. I really enjoy watching you React. I was a “Lone” Queen fan from the get go and had no one else to enjoy them with. Then, BAM BOOM BAH, I find you. I think it’s been 6 MONTHS since your last Queen Video. Can you please do a few more Queen Reactions. It’s been a while and the neighbors are complaining because they want to hear some new songs, QUEEN SONGS please please please!
HEADPHONES + “NOW I’M HERE” & “THE PROPHETS SONG” just saying.
Sincerely, Original Fat Bottom Girl from Old HB NYC
Apparently, may and roger were perfectionists. No one's perfect. They didn't realize that they were special. Which is a good thing. About everything they put their souls into was great music. My ears were tuned in to queen from a young age. Even hot space songs that people derided for being different.
Love this song!!! Freddie can't go wrong ☺☺☺
Please react to Teo Torriatte (Let us cling together) next :)
Yassssss 💪
Such an amazing band that everyone should know all facts about
Some facts are right, some terribly wrong.
A few facts were wrong as some of the guys pointed out on the comments. But let's talk about Cool Cat, those amazing vocals, man! Such an underrated track. I dare to say I actually enjoy Hot Space album a lot, it's a different sound, but I dig it. Even tho I hate Body Language...
Another song that has got that "cool" feel to it is "My baby does it", from the album "The miracle" (1989). Check out its official lyric video or something like that, since it doesn't have an official music video. Thanks again! Cheers.
Some funky guitar AND bass from Deakie!
Around fact 77-8 it became hard to hear. Echoes.
Cool hat
As a cat lover, this is one of my favorite Freddy Facts: Freddie Mercury recorded a solo album called Mr. Bad Guy, which he dedicated “to my cat Jerry - also Tom, Oscar and Tiffany, and all the cat lovers across the universe - screw everybody else.”
John Deacon has the nicest legs, they even look great in his pants on the cover photo of this video. I really like this song, so smooth and jazzy I could listen to it all day long it is so relaxing and Freddie's voice is both fantastic and amazing. This track has a real Motown sound and feel and I love that.
Payment would be the equivalent of about $400 today ($65 in 1970).
Thanks for sharing this I thought I seen it all 🥰😍
That is why we Queen can and will do it all. 🐈
Freddie really was a genius when it came to writing music!
Brian never lost Red Special ,
Brian ALWAYS knows where she is , and if you asked him to show you his Red Special , he would be able to have it in his hands within seconds , she is almost always within his reach ! 🙂
Please check “ Spread your wings “ live from “ Live killers “.
50 UK pounds = $64 US dollars in today's money. Of course 50 pounds was worth a lot more in 1970. 50 pounds is worth 735 pounds today according to the inflation calculator, or $945 US dollars.
I'd love to see your reaction to some classic 70s/80s British bands like The Jam or The Who! "Town Called Malice" by The Jam is fantastic and the story behind it is very interesting as well
No you are a cool cat
My first time hearing Cool Cat too. I have seen most footage on & about Queen also of the facts I didn’t know maybe 3 or 4 so I knew 104 of 107 smile (see what did there)
I know I’m two years behind your channel but digging it
On a lighter note I really enjoyed this, will ignore the wrong facts as usual 😁 great reaction, I am enjoying your format development so much 😁😁💖💖🤘🤘
It’s Britain’s national anthem not just England’s...
Thanks for reacting to cool cat I love it as you probably see above.
React to "March of the black queen"
March of the Black Queen and Funny How Love Is. The two of them whole go together....
Bout time someone reacted to this tune...crazy track.
This "Hot space" album rocks! It's one of my favorites and it's so underrated, unfortunately.
Yes that’s facts, I did my research on them & all of it’s true about them. I don’t think anyone can pass him up, he did out standing thing’s
Actually I read Brian told Freddie (Freddie was home sick) they wanted to use BoRhap in Waynes World but he (Brian) didn't say yes....Freddie told Brian ...of course they can and profusely thank them for me. I want the world to know our music. Tears even now as I remember reading that involvement of Freddie...what he got to know before he left his earthy paradise.
yo that was so sexy with the swing King feeling the beat of my heart damn that's nice thank you for introducing me to this never knew it is another classic one
Love, love, love,
this is my 6th time watch your reaction to cool cat! I swear I love it...30:19 u made that face and started bobbin yes!
🙏🙏🙏
Man on the prowl , pain is so close to pleasure .
Erm Brian's guitar did NOT go missing, what an important fact to get wrong!
They performed as Queen un 1970
John joined in 71
