@@melodyjane630 it's clear to me that ur not the intelligent one because if you actually did your research then you would know that aaliyah was ultimately forced onto that plane. and blaming aaliyah for her death... seriously? ur miserable and pathetic!
We need either a long overdue proper Aaliyah Netflix series or a thoroughly done movie. Her & Selena’s deaths devastated me & something that never set right…
For those of you who weren't around during the time she was alive. I'll just say this she was a HUGE star, Beyonce was just starting off as a solo artist, so Aaliyah was it! I was 9 years old and my friend ran from her house and told me that she died in a plane crash, I literally did not believe her. I couldn't wrap my head around how a star of that magnitude can just die. It was definitely a huge loss for her fans.
I wished aaliyah had the family beyonce had, beyonce's family was always there and made sure she was not taken advantage of by men when being so young so forth [[unless beyonce was assaulted to ,i honestly dont kknow🤔]] but none of aaliyahs family and mother n that wasnt rly around while these Nasty older men thought it was OK to assault her and marry and possibly impregnate her uhhh boils my blood and then she goes on later to unfortunately pass in a plane crash like it's such BS she deserved the protection that beyonce HAD 😥 , sometimes I wonder if things would of been flagged earlier etc and people stepped up to Kelly and etc if things would of been different and her life wouldnt of had SO much pain! I'm glad though she was trying to live her best life as movies and music videos etc towards the end ! I'f she would of not got on that plane I wonder how things would be today and where would beyonce be ?! Idk just makes you think 🤔🤔🤔🤔🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹❤ RIP AALIYAH YOU WILL ALWAYS FOREVER BE ONE IN A MILLION AND FOREVER YOUNG !🥰🙌
One of the prettiest faces, softest voices, and seemingly purest souls. I have loved Aaliyah since I was a little girl. My 22nd birthday was so hard because I kept thinking wow this women accomplished so much and her assignment was complete by the this time. It was very bitter sweet I remember it so vividly
She was a very private person and I don't know if she would've told her story or wanted so many people speculating about what may have happened to her.
The sad part for me is that Aaliyah's legacy is always going to be tainted because she will be associated with R Kelly. Aaliyah was such a talented singer and she had such a great fashion sense and was an amazing actress. I'm sure she would've been huge if she was still alive today. It's so sad that it's been 20 years since she passed, and it's still frustrating that all of her music isn't streaming so other people can listen to her music. She was just an icon simply put.
The look on her face in every pic with R. Kelly is just.....a combination of sad/scared and ptsd is written all over face. RIP, Aaliyah, you are safe now and unconditionally loved...And missed! 👼🏾
You are right And it would be beyond great if the focus STAYED on THAT instead of always bringing up her and R.Kelly. The man is already on trial and been in jail, etc for the accusations over the same stuff. Aaliyah is dead now so these new found fan folks who claim they really like her and are her fans should STAY on the good sides of things with her. Mentioning the other stuff with R should just be a blip.
Prince married a young one. Prince always went after them young ones. He was 33 when he met Maybe . She was 16. He got custody of her when she was 17. ( Her parents signed her over to him ). He married her when she was 19.
I cannot IMAGINE being abused at 15, and even afraid to be pregnant at that age. The fact that she annuled it so fast, a year later, just shows that she must have been scared and upset even in the marriage.
You better believe it. Not the first time , example Celine Dion was a young girl when Rene had a secret affair with her. The difference is Rene was a white man R Kelly is black. They are the same..
Wow Sl04n, I’m genuinely worried about your sleep schedule, you manage to research these topics, organize clips and put them into an easy to digest video, and on top of that, you post twice a day. Thank you for making this video for her. You have the drive most youtubers lack.
I agree SL04N IS AMAZING ✨✨🤍!! I hope he’s remembering that SELF CARE is more important than any video. Remember to take time for yourself SL04N 🧘🏻⛺️🏖⛹🏻❣️❣️
I agree. People called her mysterious back then, but she always struck me as extremely reserved and closed off. And no wonder. She was taken advantage of.
I think a part of the reason why people accepted the R.Kelly and Aaliyah “relationship” was because the record company tried to conceal her age, even before the unlawful marriage.
@@DOfunnygirl this is why telling stories in retrospect is hard, because it seems like everyone knew And just wasn’t doing anything but. Look at the photos. That girl is not 18!
She always had the saddest eyes to me. You could tell the moments she was truly happy and the moments she was not and putting on a brave front for the cameras. You could tell if she had more time on earth that she was going to get rid of the lame circle around her (especially the people who put her on the plane drugged) and grow into her own! Gone way too soon!! RIP!
one thing that really irked me was the black media made it seem like aaliyah was the bad guy and said evil crap like "she slept her way to get to the top" this was in the mid 90s even as a teen i would just look at them people with my jaw dropped i would ask "in what universe is a preteen (cause she was 12 when he groomed her) at fault for a grown man molesting her ? And her parents are just guilty in this" as a black man , i seen white and black people defend r.kelly for years , i just couldnt listen to his music anymore...and since im a aaliyah and michael jackson fan i always skip "you are no alone" by michael (r.kelly wrote and produced it) and her "back and forth " song... i agree she always looked sad, the only time aaliyah looked really happy was after her "one in a million" album where she was able to find her aristic freedom but you can see she was sexually abused by r.kelly , her demeanor was like a molested victim when she was interviewed , i hope she is resting in piece
@@Chuck_ELI agree with most, but Micheal unfortunately also molested many children. And so did, Epstein, Weinstein, Cosby and many more men with money and power, for decades, not just a couple of years. They were protected, had friends in the right places 😢 sad for all the hundreds of victims/ survivors women, but also let's not forget the little boys and men.
it was a really weird time too, because she died then 9/11 happened shortly after. like 3 weeks later. didn't get enough time to grieve her loss before the world went totally weird.
I remember my mom crying when Princess Diana died and I was so young I didn’t understand. When Aaliyah passed I was sobbing the same way and I finally understood why my mom was upset. It’s so tragic to see young lovely women go so soon. To all the young Gen Z watching and don’t really know who Aaliyah was, she was like the Ariana of the late 90s. Every girl was obsessed. RIP Aaliyah. Well miss you forever Edit: to everyone saying ari wasn’t it - I agree lol I don’t even know why I said that !! LOL not even an Ari fan. Thinking back there really just isn’t anyone like Aaliyah tbh. And there never will be.
Right, I was in 10th grade when she died. I was crushed and remember I cried about it on and off for like a week. Then September 11 happened a few weeks later, it was so much tragedy in a matter of weeks. I listened to her Aaliyah album like everyday for the remainder of high school.
No disrespect meant, but Aaliyah was far more talented than that. There hasn't really been another artist to come after her that is comparable to her sound.
@@LynxStarAuto they were comparing how big she was, not the talent or voice itself. Only speaking about the fame, so don’t put women against each other. That’s not cool.
24:12 I was devastated when this happened because I loved Aaliyah. She was so kind when I got her autograph and her music has helped me out of some rough situations, especially high school (which is when she passed). I remember the news and media stating that Aaliyah was the one demanding that her "entourage" ALL get on the plane because she was ready to go home and she didn't want to leave anyone behind. I thought that was interesting because she didn't strike me as the type of person to be a diva, especially since the pilot was warning her about the weight of the plane and the dangers thereof. It made me think, Aaliyah had flown enough, and had traveled enough, that if a pilot were to tell her about weight requirements and the danger that entails if ignored, I think she would have gone with his judgement - but it seemed like, at the time, ALL of the news outlets blamed it all on her. That always REALLY bothered me. Thank you for making this video. I loved Aaliyah and still do, and I hope there's justice for her and others, because after everything she had been through, she had a promising acting career in the works, she broke so many records with album sales, and she even put Timbo and Missy Elliot on the map with "One in a Million." She's very near and dear to my heart, though I didn't know her, and her music is still relatable to me. Thanks, again!
I sooo wanted to meet her! I was so hurt, I'm still hurt, because of her death. Then, to find out that she was DRUGGED and she didn't want to get on the plane...!
You reminded me of how I felt at the time-that it seemed like Aaliyah was being indirectly blamed by the press...but as a frequent flyer, why would she ignore those warnings, as you pointed out? They made it seem like she was some careless, ignorant diva and according to the evidence, that wasn’t the case
There’s a weird generational thing that was happening in this time. I’m the same age. At 12-14, I feel like sooooo many girls looked, acted and were treated far older than we were. Very much “the hurried child”.
I agree, plus there was a lot of men 20s and up pratically hanging around skl gates in the 90s. I really do think this played apart in that rushed feeling.
You're right!! I'm in a 80's child and my first " bf " was a much older dude! My mom called the cops on him. I seen no wrong until she said to me " you're a child what the hell is he doing with you " by that time ... we cross the line. " I believed I was in love " Years later ... he was killed but this statement is so true! on my block growing up people said I was grown yet I wasn't I was bullied that's how he became my friend. People love to blame victims! Crazy world we live in.
She had a Headache because she didn't want to get on the plane, that was her Intuition. Her wedding date to R-Kelly was the same as her Funeral date, August-31, (my birthday). So sad and I don't think the numerology was a coincidence at all. I strongly believe that R.Kelly was obsessed with her and angry that she divorced him and proceeded to move on with her young, beautiful life.
Aaliyahs and Selenas life stories still breaks my heart the world failed both of them you should look into Selena next and her husband has done lots of interviews and it's pretty messy with Chris and the family but worth the deep dive his love for her still pulls at my heart strings
I love Aaliyah. She was such a trendsetter and very talented. I think if her untimely demise hadn't happened I believe she would be at Beyonce's level in her career.
I honestly think she would have been at Ciara or Ashanti’s level since they were the most influenced by her and carried her legacy into their artistry. Beyoncé and Aaliyah were never really alike to me anyway besides urban style music.
@@dejstoney Aaliyah was making movies and had already secured a part in two of the Matrix movies. I think there was no main stream limits her talents couldn’t overcome.
Her last album was her most experimental one she has ever put out. I’m sure she would’ve been more versatile in her music which would’ve helped her to gain more popularity.
@@sibriaGreat point!!!! Especially if Aaliyah had continued working with Timbaland as her producer. Imo he didn’t hit his stride until the early 2000’s… on albums like Missy Elliott’s This Is Not A Test! (2003), Justin Timberlake’s Justified and Nelly Furtado’s Loose to name a few.
The most tragic thing about this young lady's story is that every single adult or authority figure failed her either they were molesting her taking advantage of her or outright neglecting her her parents and uncle failed her in every way and the only reason the parents didn't want her music out is because the creep of an uncle had all rights 2 it this young woman's story shows every single dark side in the music industry its heartbreaking to listen to her story being told and when I look back at her photos I noticed that she never looked truly happy in any pic I've ever seen of her 💔 😢
She didn't want to get on that plane because her intuition was going off like crazy. Also, the R. KELLY part of her life upsets me, I wish she had gotten justice.
Did Aaliyah know it was a sleeping pill ? I’m trying to be objective. I’m thinking it’s possible that she agreed to ride if she knew she was going to sleep through the flight ?
Crazy thing is baby girl already had a fear of flying. She should have listened to her gut no matter how much she wanted to go back home and be with Dame. I do believe she was given a sleeping pill too. Smh.
Sloan, I actually pray for you as you are literally exposes SO MUCH filth that resides in Hollywood and I don't want "them" to come for you! You are so well researched and well spoken and easy to listen too!
He’s doing an amazing job at spreading the word , but he’s not “exposing” anything people don’t already know about . If he’s got this off the internet like the majority of us then it’s nothing “they’re” trying to hide .
"You say that age ain't nothing but a number...You're a dirty old man. You can't keep your hands to yourself... etc." Actual lyrics from Dirty Old Man by The Three Degrees.
I was looking for this comment..it was soo creepy seeing him in the background of that album cover just lurking n looking at her like the Predator that he is.
Yes, everything about AANBAN was wrong. First of all the song itself like😳 did her parent's listen to the song before hand at all. Cause she was 14 and had no business singing them type of lyrics like that. R.kelly wouldn't had mines signing or putting out no shit like that. They simply trusted him so easy and too much and give him too much freedom with their child with no set rules and clearly didn't keep and eye on them. If her parents would've press charges then instead of trying save and keep up a good image for her career...his sick ass wouldn't be able to make more victim's. Them letting him getting away with what he did to her made him feel more untouchable. Then his next known victim's parents wasn't shit never......he paid them off and offer the daddy a job.
I grew up watching him haunt the local pancake house in Hyde Park, loving the attention from all the high school girls on lunch break.. I went to Kenwood, I knew one of his victims, and I lived less than a block from his brother.. I saw him ALL the time and stayed clear
Yes! My mom went to Kenwood in the mid 90s and he tried to get at her, and insulted her when she wasn't interested. I've always known R.Kelly was a weirdo and I don't understand why it's taken so long to punish him.
Thank God you didn't fall prey to this predator. I feel like the most vulnerable to him were the young girls with aspirations to sing or maybe I'm wrong I mean what young girl or boy never had a fleeting thought of It would be so cool to be a famous actress or singer. He could've said sing for me and even if they were terrible singers say oh wow What a great singer you are. I could make you a superstar !!! I think He would do that to any young girl he wanted to abuse!!! What young girl wouldn't believe him. I feel like he had a bunch of co- conspirators that need to be held responsible for their crimes!!! I Loved Aaliyah in the movie queen of the damned!!! RIP Aaliyah 🙏 💚🕊 💜 😇!!!
The "put respect on her name" 👏 I'm literally shivering with goosebumps. It's important to know the story. To know what she went through. To know how society failed her. We got to stop failing these young women and children in the industry. :( but let's not forget everything else that was special about her and don't let the darkness overshadow the light this woman brought to the world. So well said and delivered Sloan.
She was definitely set up to fail from the beginning. So beautiful and so much talent taken to soon. The music industry is full of dark soulless people. I pray that she's in heaven.
It’s so heartbreaking to know that she could still be here if it weren’t for the negligence of the people that are supposed to ensure the safety of the aircraft. It could have all been avoided, yet her life was taken from her at such a young age. I truly hope her soul is at peace & so sorry that her short time here was so traumatic. She deserved better
Honestly, even after her death, the hip hop world knew what was up with her situation with R. Kelly. It’s disturbing to see so many artists that knew her in the industry out there wearing her image or dropping her name yet they weren’t LEADING the fight against R. Kelly. That’s some enabling bullshit right there as well.
Its because it's so popular for them to do. Jay and beyonce, Cassie and diddy, kelis and nas.... not all are as drastic as 13 but still underage for sure. Its evil and disgusting. The work of the devil
its a world of machismo, men are considered more virile for having a harem of girls & God knows how many hangers on benefitted from enabling him ie woman, money, status etc. absolutely horrible.
I agree! Like Jay Z constantly touts her name but did a album with this man! Dame Dash dated her and he cosigned the album! like its really sad... but this was how it was... remember Mya? Talking about "Its all about me" at 15 shaking it for Sisqo.... or Monica who was 15 talking about "Dont take it Personal" and had people calling her "Miss Thing" its crazy how young this "grooming process" started for these girls.....
There is no way the parents didn’t know what rkelly was up to with Aaliyah. They basically give her to rkelly bcs she ended up pregnant and married. I adore Aaliyah and saddened by this tragedy. Aaliyah’s legacy will live forever! God bless you babygirl ❤️
Have you seen the interview with Public Announcement? I just saw it a few days ago. They said that one of the dudes quit because he saw R. Kelly raping Aaliyah. When Kells went to ask where the other dude went, he was told that dude saw him. He says Kelly said what that got to do with your check. He offered to double his pay for his silence and he said nothing. They need to go DOWN with Kells.
Can you please talk about Whitney Houston’s story and how corrupted her family and inner circle had been throughout her life that ultimately led to her death?
You all need to watch Bella Sloans video on Whitney there’s two parts devastating what they did to her and her daughter and the daughters boyfriend. And Shame on Brandy she knows what’s going on she her s letter right before they killed Whitney
I feel like if she were still alive she’d be in a situation very similar to Britney Spears. Well never know of course. I’m just glad she’s getting the appreciation she deserves even to this day.
Thank you for this video! I was 17 when Aaliyah died. I remember sobbing like a baby. I still do time to time when I listen to her music. Her voice was truly angelic. RIP Aaliyah ❤ you truly are one in a million
@@bohemiangardens7912 I’ll never forget that year. 2001-2002 was a bad year. Aaliyah was killed in a plane crash in August , 9/11 happened Jam master Jay was murdered and Left Eye was killed in a car crash. Just awful 😢
I am so incredibly happy that you made sure to give Aaliyah the respect she deserves regardless of that predator and the manner of her tragic death. You just don't see that much anymore when people do deep dives into the lives of celebs. It speaks to me that you are a very kind person and you do a wonderful job making sure that you show the very human side to these people we adore. Thank you for reporting with integrity Sloan, It means alot.
I think my first time I was effected by a celeb’s death was when Selena passed away. I was only 11 and I remember crying when it was on the radio. I now have Selena and Aaliyah t-shirts that I wear from time to time. It’s amazing these artists’ talents live on. 💜
I remember being a little girl, seeing the news bulletin read across the screen on MTV that she had passed away. They started playing her "Rock the Boat" video.
There’s a lot shady business going on in Rosemont IL. Kenneka Jenkins vanished there as well. Amongst a few other weird scenarios that have happened there.
@@ImAtYourMumsHouse With that case, there are too many loose ends when it comes to the friends and their whereabouts that night. Even the phone call the Mom made to the police didn’t add up. The videos of her and that night were fishy as well.
There’s no shady business. kenneka was with shady people doing shady things that got her in trouble. She got stuck in a freezer drunk and on pills and didn’t know how to get out. It was accident . That’s it!
I won't ever understand how that weird ass marriage wasn't the end of R.Kelly. There should be no R.Kelly because of that. I hope Aaliyah is somewhere watching him get what the fuck he deserves. RIP Babygirl.
That's been the hot question on my mind all these years. Why wasn't Kelly's forced marriage to a minor enough for his career to come to a screeching halt? Why has it taken so many victims speaking up in a documentary for him to finally face real consequences? It's such a crying shame.
I love you Sloan! I felt Aaliyah thanking you for acknowleging how unprotected she was, and how failed she was by everyone. Their is definitly something evil abt how she died. It has always felt very wrong!
Thats why her parents dont want her music out. Bc its what kille her she was the star and other were yealous. Def. Horrible. Dont like Beyonce at all she always ben overrated and was such a bitch in "destinys child" (why are they even 3 if the name of the group is for 1..) just wanting to be the most famous..
This is a great analysis. So much is coming out about her story now. The marriage is no longer considered a rumor. It's unfortunate she didn't live to speak on it. Also Aaliyah is pronounced ah-lee-ah.
It kills me to know how many people around her either just wanted to use her, or had ulterior motives in their relationships with her. For example, Timbaland. He’s super talented and helped Aaliyah make amazing music, but he was also enamored with her to the point of marrying…maybe current wife because she looked enough like her. I just feel really weird about everything still. Don’t even get me started on R. Kelly ruining her young life. Ugh.
Yeah but unlike R.Kelly he didn't act on his feelings for her. He at least understood she was a baby and it wouldn't be right to purse her romantically.
Her story reminds me of Michael Jackson’s story, the team forcing the act to perform against their will. So so sad that money is worth more to these people then the musicians themselves
I was only 8 when she passed and she was my ultimate idol. I wasn't paying attention to any other artists like I was Aaliyah (and Britney). Her death was really depressing for me. I'll never forget seeing the breaking news & watching AJ & Free announcing it on 106 & Park. I was so heartbroken because my ultimate goal was to meet her. My mom said I moped around for almost a week. I just wasn't myself. It's still so painful to go back & remember her death. It's really hard to process & I'm still kind of in disbelief. It's crazy because a lot of us outlived her and when you're older you realize how young she really was. 22, we were still babies, still had so much life to experience. The entertainment industry hasn't been the same since. They've been trying to replace her & fill her void for years and have never been able to do it. You simply cannot replace an angel, like that. The world would have been so different if she were still here. I will forever rock with, for and love Aaliyah. Still my only idol to this day. The best to ever do what she did. Rest peacefully, Babygirl. 🥺🤍🕊
Apparently when Aaliyah was sleeping, R Kelly would fool around with Aaliyah’s mom. I assume that’s why the parents didn’t press charges…. So sad. Thank you for this video king, excellent coverage of everything.
I know the “sacrifice” stuff sounds super crazy and out there… but if you do enough research you will be shocked at how plausible it really is.. it seems to happen a lot in the music industry and you will definitely notice a pattern with it the more you research.
The first time I ever saw Aaliyah was in 2000 for the music “Try Again” her Rhine stone bra and belt, black leather pants, chains around her waist and that smoky Eye with her full juicy glossed lips. I was complete enamored with her beautiful voice and her effortless dancing. She was charging the entire music industry at 21 years old and what I loved about her was her kindness, and her softness and how humbled she remained while becoming the next great superstar of our generation. I don’t think about her passing because to me she is still alive when her music is played on the radio, you hear a rapper mention her in a lyric or you see children in school rocking Aaliyah tee’s with their snap backs and sunglasses. She is everywhere. Great video. 🤍
I remember hearing about Aaliyah’s death on MTV news when I was 13. My brother and I sat and cried in front of the TV. We were both fans of her music and movies. We were young but we understood the weight of this loss would live with us forever. 💔
Girl me too. Me and my mom was watching in shock!!! I was 12. My sister would be born the next month the day after 9/11. That year was nuts I tell you!!!!
Everyone failed her 😢 my older sister (who was her age) argues that she knew what she was doing, she was so mature for her age, and she just wanted to be emancipated from her parents, she wasn’t a victim. This was the mentality still. At least in the black community they allow this stuff to happen. Grown men picking up teenage girls from school.
@@_jordanslyric I’m not arguing that she did. These were the rumors going around in the 90s while it was happening. No one had her back not even her peers. And they still hold on to these beliefs to this day.
This is the most well thought out videos about Aaliyah.. the breakdown down of Aaliyah history was amazing.. I really appreciate the hard work put into this video.. Thanks Sloan .
Aaliyah was a kingpin of her genre at the time and even now. She will always be remembered for her contributions to the music industry, just as Selena will.
To answer your question about why he wouldn’t have gotten in trouble while they were married, legally a spouse cannot be compelled to testify against their spouse. So they wouldn’t have had a case.
Thank you, most people don’t realize how the United States (and other nations) have legal systems that were built to protect predators including pedophiles. I learned that this goes back to Columbus who has letters sharing how he gave nine year olds away As wives and that was the most popular age to go for for the people that wanted to get free land and settle in the United States. If our pedophile problem goes back to you before Columbus perhaps we need to actually rebuild a new system that is built for health and let go of the whole system though we’ve built for slavery. I just don’t see how this system can magically become healthy with a foundation so toxic. Our systems were built for predators by predators and if we keep denying this we will keep getting more of the same shit.
I just found your page and you did a great job on this video! Definitely checking out more of your content. I really love that you discussed the dark stuff but made a conscious effort to note her career, accomplishments, and honored her memory.
I remember persons pushing the narrative that Aaliyah insisted that the plane should carry all of her luggage.. and knowing that that is the furthest thing from the truth makes her death so much more sadder😔
no literally all i ever heard before watching this video was that she was “being a diva and wanted all her heavy luggage to be on the same plane” it never sat right w me because aside from her being an angel, if it’s a professional pilot and team they would not take risks like that they know better
@@jenniferfields7113 it was a plane they she was supposed to flew in but someone took that plane which left her and her team no choice but to fly in that small plane(they did have a choice but they needed to get back home)
I can't believe it's been 20 years now... 💔 I remember watching the news as a 9 year old and heard that she died in a plane crash. I was devastated. R.I.P Baby Girl ❤
I feel so bad for Aaliyah I really do. Such a sweet, soft spoken, beautiful inside & out woman. It’s just so unfortunate that the people around her just didn’t take that much notice when it came to her mental state / well-being. They failed her. What they did to her is truly awful 😢 She was so talented! Ahead of her time, her lyricism was on another level. It’s just such a shame man. She should still be here! But I just hope she’s finally at peace and I hope the trauma she went through that it’s finally left her & she’s free from it. That she doesn’t feel that pain anymore. Her voice/ music is definitely iconic! and her legacy will deffo live on. She honestly, honestly deserved so much better! I honestly think it’s so disgusting how ppl are still profiting off her death it’s like can you just let her be. Didn’t she go through enough. Ppl are so sick and cynical. They’ll literally do anything for money even if it hurts another person. It’s like do you not have any self- respect for yourself I guess not. But with that being said I really hope she’s at peace now. I think we can all agree they don’t make music like this no more! The 90s / 2000s were it! Ppl can try to mimic it with the Y2K aesthetic but it will never be the same. Having said that she’s so much more than all of the stuff she’s been through and ppl need to put some damn respect on her name! 🥺❤️
Barry is ready to release the music because he is ready to bring back his record label, Blackground, as Blackground 2.0 and he needs a way to fund it. He is not doing this for the sake of Aaliyah’s legacy, he’s doing this for the sake of his continued success in the music industry. Barry owns the masters, he gets the payout. Same thing with Jojo’s first two albums. She gets nothing from the release of them on streaming services and was not even made aware of the release of them prior to the public announcement.
thank you for sharing her story. it’s such a weird feeling seeing how influential Aaliyah’s style is to fashion and music today, knowing that the opportunity to experience her own impact was taken from her … it reminds me so much of Selena 💔
I’m a Mom & want to thank you! I listen to you while I’m at the grocery store and while I’m doing laundry and it makes everything go better and I also learned a lot about what is going on in the world that needs to change. You stand up for women’s rights and other peoples rights as well and I’m very appreciative. I have a 13-year-old daughter who set me up to hear your podcast and I couldn’t be happier thank you!
This was so well done. Aaliyah was one of my favorites. Only thing I’d fix is that Aaliyah did not “date” r Kelly. She was groomed as a child and got away.
ty for talking about aaliyah!! she really was such a futuristic artist, shining star, and beautiful girl, and it breaks my heart that the ppl around her failed her so badly, and that her death was so preventable. rest in peace, aaliyah- you are more than your struggles and more than your beauty. you are one in a million 💞
Thank you for this! You put together her story in such a beautiful, respectful way. This was lovely to listen to. Aaliyah is singing with the angels now.
Imagine how much Grammy Awards she could have won if she was still here why would anyone want to get rid of Aaliyah she was so sweet and amazing and had such a great soul 😭💔
Her artistry was way before her time, and she always gave off a mature energy. But the facts remain, she was a minor and he was a predator. Miss her and still have her music in rotation.

I'm glad though she was trying to live her best life as movies and music videos etc towards the end ! I loved Aaliyah and still do, and I hope there's justice for her and others, because after everything she had been through, she had a promising acting career in the works, she broke so many records with album sales, and she even put Timbo and Missy Elliot on the map with "One in a Million." Aaliyah was groomed so much that she didn’t stand a chance. Always miss her that was a true one.
She always had those same sad eyes like the Olsen Twins. Even when she smiled you could see the sadness all in her face.
It still hurts to this day hearing about her life. The world failed her. We didn’t deserve her. We Love & Miss you Baby Girl!

I don’t know about the world lol
I was like "Who'd hire a child to sing at their wedding?" Then that clip of little Aaliyah singing played. Dang! Baby girl had a big voice!
That was beautiful
I remember being a little girl, seeing the news bulletin read across the screen on MTV that she had passed away. They started playing her "Rock the Boat" video.
Yes! That’s exactly how I found out, when it went across the bottom of the screen! I was 9. 😔
There’s a lot shady business going on in Rosemont IL.
Kenneka Jenkins vanished there as well. Amongst a few other weird scenarios that have happened there.
Do you think Kenneka Jenkins' accident was a cover up? If so, can I ask why?
@@ImAtYourMumsHouse With that case, there are too many loose ends when it comes to the friends and their whereabouts that night. Even the phone call the Mom made to the police didn’t add up.
The videos of her and that night were fishy as well.
@@ImAtYourMumsHouse Definitely a cover up for something deeper and I bet darker going on.
What do you think about it?
Her case is so traumatic man 😔kept me up at night it all just dont make sense
Her mom owns his master's
I love you Sloan! I felt Aaliyah thanking you for acknowleging how unprotected she was, and how failed she was by everyone. Their is definitly something evil abt how she died. It has always felt very wrong!
Sloan is underrated fs I love how you come out with so many videos in so little time, I see your effort and appreciate it
Lowkey scared to say this but I kinda believe the conspiracy about certain people being threatened by her star power.
If those people's initials are J or B, I agree
@@lexip396able Yes! Those two…
@@kikizachary8334 I think you're right
Thats why her parents dont want her music out. Bc its what kille her she was the star and other were yealous. Def. Horrible. Dont like Beyonce at all she always ben overrated and was such a bitch in "destinys child" (why are they even 3 if the name of the group is for 1..) just wanting to be the most famous..
@@abidibu3998 Right?!
Ugh.
Yes, I get he loved her more than that too
Tim just made good music with her and loved her from afar. That doesn’t mean he had ulterior motives.
This made my eyes start watering…
You are the man for covering Baby Girl’s story, it needs to be heard ❤️ 20 years RIP
Apparently when Aaliyah was sleeping, R Kelly would fool around with Aaliyah’s mom. I assume that’s why the parents didn’t press charges…. So sad. Thank you for this video king, excellent coverage of everything.
Omg you’re kidding right that’s awful Hollywood is gross
😱😯
Threesomes rumoured. RIP Aaliyah.
Apparently or allegedly?
Disgusting, so sick and sad
I know the “sacrifice” stuff sounds super crazy and out there… but if you do enough research you will be shocked at how plausible it really is.. it seems to happen a lot in the music industry and you will definitely notice a pattern with it the more you research.
This a beautiful tribute for her. Amazing woman and such a powerful voice.
Aaliyah was a beautiful soul, it’s a shame she was treated so poorly in her time
The first time I ever saw Aaliyah was in 2000 for the music “Try Again” her Rhine stone bra and belt, black leather pants, chains around her waist and that smoky Eye with her full juicy glossed lips. 🤍
I’ve been listening to her SOOOOOO much lately. Her and Jodeci. RIP 💔
I remember hearing about Aaliyah’s death on MTV news when I was 13. My brother and I sat and cried in front of the TV. We were both fans of her music and movies. We were young but we understood the weight of this loss would live with us forever. 💔
Me and my brother too 🌺
Girl me too. Me and my mom was watching in shock!!! I was 12. My sister would be born the next month the day after 9/11. That year was nuts I tell you!!!!
@@babygfeva yeah that whole year seems so unreal. So many bad things happened to my family and it felt like the world was falling apart around us.
@@Iriss8888tek665j7o
The way you honored her legacy at the beginning of this video really really touched me. I appreciate that
Everyone failed her 😢 my older sister (who was her age) argues that she knew what she was doing, she was so mature for her age, and she just wanted to be emancipated from her parents, she wasn’t a victim. This was the mentality still. At least in the black community they allow this stuff to happen. Grown men picking up teenage girls from school.
I remember growing up, everyone said Aaliyah was “fast” and no one blamed R. kelly for being a pedophile.
She was never emancipated from her parents, it was them that got the marriage annulled.
@@_jordanslyric I’m not arguing that she did. These were the rumors going around in the 90s while it was happening. No one had her back not even her peers. And they still hold on to these beliefs to this day.
@@crysdee461 the crazy thing is they still do this to young girls
@@crysdee461 That always bothered me!!!
This is the most well thought out videos about Aaliyah.. the breakdown down of Aaliyah history was amazing.. I really appreciate the hard work put into this video.. Thanks Sloan .
Thank you for being so sweet and respectful of her memory
Aaliyah was treated so wrong when she lived on this earth she was such a angel and such a beauty
I feel like several men in Aaliyah’s life have all failed her, including her suspicious uncle. She could’ve been a megastar if she was still alive.
Absolutely. There's no way the uncle didn't know
I'm so upset they made her on that plane .
Her mom failed her too . I feel like she was the worst , she’s just as bad as Kelly
her voice was so soothing and relaxing ....
@@melly5416 They never did found the plane who take her at first . Just odd
She gets nothing from the release of them on streaming services and was not even made aware of the release of them prior to the public announcement.
i been telling people this but i’m the bad guy 🙁
screw barry,i'd only listen to it unreleased
You mean his crappy record label. He’s only trying to take advantage of more artist like he have previously done before
@@mayasheartdesiire that’s what I’m saying.
thank you for sharing her story. it’s such a weird feeling seeing how influential Aaliyah’s style is to fashion and music today, knowing that the opportunity to experience her own impact was taken from her … it reminds me so much of Selena 💔
Thank you so much for telling the truth about Aaliyah according to the facts! You are truly appreciated!
I’m a Mom & want to thank you! I listen to you while I’m at the grocery store and while I’m doing laundry and it makes everything go better and I also learned a lot about what is going on in the world that needs to change. This was so well done. Aaliyah was one of my favorites. Only thing I’d fix is that Aaliyah did not “date” r Kelly. She was groomed as a child and got away.
I never new she was drugged and unconscious this makes this so much more tragic now
Ahhh thank you for sharing the article I emailed you! You’re the best Sloan, thank you for bringing more awareness to this!!! 💖💖💖
ty for talking about aaliyah!! she really was such a futuristic artist, shining star, and beautiful girl, and it breaks my heart that the ppl around her failed her so badly, and that her death was so preventable.

You should make a video about Jenni Rivera! She’s a Mexican singer that died in a plane crash. People suspect it was the work of narcos.
Yes please!!
Thank you for explaining that the evil and sad things that happened are not her legacy. She was a very talented kid who will be remembered
A woman that claims R Kelly use to confide in her says that r kelly & Aaliyah's mom were messing around behind Aaliyah's back.
Her artistry was way before her time, and she always gave off a mature energy. But the facts remain, she was a minor and he was a predator. Miss her and still have her music in rotation.
