      But you have to ask for them to take it off. They will Not give it to you other wise. And make sure they take it off. Hubby and I ask them for it and they pretended not to hear us. We had to tell them again before they hit total sale. They will tell you that you have to wait til next trip.

      lynda head tiddlywinks! That's what we call them in England... Where you use them to "ping" each other off a surface and aim for a bowl to catch them! Yes you could probably get clear ones! Or clear buttons! Or glass domed nuggets! At first I thought she was going to melt the knives and mix in the glitter. I'm going to mix up some epoxy resin in a cup and add glitter and then put little drops of it to set and just skip the knives. I was also thinking that you could put some of that triple thick....or glossy accents or even collall clear glue.... possibly even hot glue.... straight into a cup and mix in enough glitter until it is thick and dry ish enough to pick up small amounts to roll between your hands and make small balls, then add the last sprinkle of glitter onto your palms to keep rolling the ball to coat the outside....a bit like making truffles and rolling them in vermicelli. Then set the teeny balls to one side to dry a bit flatter as they set! This would also skip needing the knives, tiddlywinks, buttons or nuggets! But I'm not knocking the video... On the contrary! I have tons of ideas running through my head having seen this, just adjusting it to what I have on hand...because when finished they are gorgeous!

    I followed your video last night and made your ice gems. They're gorgeous! RUclips doesn't do them justice. Anyway, I had some dark dark glitter and decided to give it a try. The result was gorgeous! I added the large glitter in a lighter color to the mix and of course some German glass diamond dust to add that extra sparkle. The end result was utterly stunning jewel tone ice gems! I tried making them at first without the large lighter color glitter and they just didn't have the uumph I was looking for. So using the dark glitter does work!

I would be so afraid of putting glitter in the triple thick jar. I'm going to try it and let you know - unless you already can shed some light on this technique.

    Are your ice gems strong enough to be used as buttons?

    • @tamielizabethallaway2413
      @tamielizabethallaway2413 6 лет назад +5

      Cindy Clark probably not... Why not buy clear buttons... Break a toothpick in half and poke in each hole before setting the glitter... When dry twist the toothpicks out to reveal the holes again! Probably be stronger set with epoxy resin though..... 😁
      Ps: I've not tried triple thick before so don't know if it would scratch off used on clothing, or soak off in the washing machine...? Hence why I said you could maybe use a layer of resin in place of the gel medium. 😄

    • @HappyBirdsGlitterNest
      @HappyBirdsGlitterNest  6 лет назад +1

      Yes, they are strong enough because the plasticware is heavy duty, however, I wouldn't do it because if you are wearing and washing the article of clothing, the glitter will not hold up. I would use these ice gems as more of an embellishment for your crafts.

    • @maryelizabeth6797
      @maryelizabeth6797 6 лет назад +2

      Cindy Clark You can find holiday themed buttons that slide over the buttons on your shirt. Perhaps a craft store or craft web site sells the plain backings. Then you could slip these ‘jewels’ on and off you garment at will.

    Could these be domed with resin? Such a great idea. I'm not very inventive.

    Those are beautiful!
    I'm wondering how would it turn out if you painted the plastic first with acrylic paint using the same color as the glitter, then apply the glitter/glue stuff. Would the sparkly stuff show up more!?🤗

    Really clever idea! Is there an approximate alternative if you don't have german glass glitter?

    I just discovered you a few days ago & I am hooked on your videos. Especially for the butterflies and now using a plastic knife, WOW. I found a new craft to add to my embellishments. I love all the sparkley effects on anything. Your voice is calming as well. Love the little giggle now & then. Now to find more of your videos that I can add to my collection. Be safe & TYFS
