I just realized, while I find many RUclips videos music selection annoying. I always like yours. It’s not overbearing or annoying and the builds and music are very relaxing. Another great one.
A lot of times I watch the videos and don't realize how tiered I am after a big lunch until he gets to the painting of the transmission and the music that is playing. 😴 It's like a lullaby.
Bravo for the closing remarks. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, but I've been in the hobby since the '70s. I'd rather see 100 people building models the way you do, than only 10 the way I do.
Chris's point is that you build what you want, the way you want to. Also, he's building a particulat kit out of the box. What's the point of stopping the build to go looking for a different engine or another set of wheels?
I applauded your painting techniques - the use of paints that most modellers would never use now-a-day’s. You are finishing them like we all did back 50-60 years ago.
Chris’s use of rattle cans spray, brush, pens, enamel and acrylics, washes, gloves and bare hands is really neat. Materials and techniques to use the next time in my stash.Do it your way and enjoy it. Sometimes I zoom in on the view to really see what and how your are doing things. And a story or reasons for doing it your way. Really nice and relaxing, the music, too. Some of the tunes have a “Gordon Lightfoot” feel. All good.
Nice build! Something about the '49-'52 Fords that I always liked. My older brother's first car was a '49, just like this one, except painted black. One Saturday night, returning from a roller rink in a nearby town, he and his buddy and their girl friends all fell asleep while driving, drifted across the center line, hit a parked car, glanced off and hit a telephone pole, ricocheted off that and crashed into a brick wall. The Highway Patrol officer who was waiting for my dad when we went to see the car at the wrecking yard said he was shocked that anybody survived. I was only 10 years old and my mouth dropped open when I saw that the driver's side front wheel and tire were where the driver should have been. All four passengers were unhurt except for a couple of lacerations and a bruised knee. Those cars were tough back then! This video now makes me want to build one in remembrance of my brother. Thanks for your good work and effort to bring us these videos.
I remember when Round 2 Models came back out with this car back in 2008(?). I built it as an early 70s street cruiser. Bright yellow paint, deep dish Torq Thrust wheels and wide tires. I added those popular bullet type side mirrors. I used the custom tube grille and smooth front and rear end without the bumpers. I shaved the side trim. I had to cut out the rear quarter areas for the bigger tires to fit. Almost like the box art shown on your kit. I will build a stock version someday. I really do appreciate the beauty of these bone stock classic cars.
Your reviews and builds offer excellent insight to those who feel the need to build show quality models. There will always be haters. Just continue to do what you do. Awesomeness!
Love this build. 1964, my kid brother had a '49 coupe, in grey. Many a Monday I'd have to borrow it to drive to work as I'd "hurt" my car at the drags that weekend. I actually loved driving the car - smooth, easy, just enough power to keep me out of trouble. Anyway, I digress. You nailed this model in every way (scuffing up the right front white wall from bad parking and it would have been an exact match). Thanks again for all your work building, filming, editing and posting to RUclips - like clock work.
1949 Ford had a 239 Flathead with a 3 spd. column shifted manual transmission. Imagine Rustoleum producing a factory Ford paint colour. I like that company more every day! Nice colour match.
Even though you say you don’t build “show cars”, I personally think you build the nicest-looking, cleanest and most realistic models on RUclips. Your still photos are the best! Upon seeing your thumbnail photo for this video, I really thought you had photographed a full-size car. Congratulations and thanks for all your tips.
My dad and older brother had about a dozen or more 49-51 Fords back when i was much younger. For my part, ive put together about that many of these kits over the years, and still have about 5 or 6 fresh vintage ones in the boxes going back to the Barris edition kits. ALWAYS a pleasure to watch your videos, and see YOUR spin on how YOU put it all together. Be it an old familiar kit, or a totally new tooling.
Awesome video! I have an older version of this kit. Was building it as Robert Mitchums car from 1958's Thunder Road. All was going well until I found I had the wrong engine and couldn't find the interior color. It's still sitting in the box to this day. Started that build in 2004. Now I have the correct engine for it so one day it might get completed...
I like how you use the washi tape for the trim. I need to pick some up next time I'm at Michael's. I built the 80's release of this kit back in the winter but have not done the trim yet, just because I'm not a fan of metal foil.
49 Ford stock I loved building when I was a teen in the 90's. I painted mine blue and painted the white walls. Such a sweet model and one of the best AMT kits ever made. This is the perfect Grandma car.
I had this kit back when it was new, first issued by AMT. I built it as a vintage dirt track stock car racer. Painted it yellow, weathered it, used a soldering iron to make dents. Left off the bumpers and made crash guards from some of the styrene. It turned out pretty good.
Great build Chris, the one thing I love about the decal sheet is when they have a set of moon eyes that look in different directions so they can point the same way on the car 😀
Looking good.... Got to love the '49 Ford....remember working on one back in school, mid 80's, car shop class, learning how to paint cars etc., man did it have loads of filler on it! 😳😲😆😂 Think we painted it bright red if I remember correctly....working on one of their earlier releases, bit of a red light warrior, matt black and other things....need to get back to it! Is that spray booth doing its thing, looks like it's been around since 1781 and Yorktown! 😉😆😂 Just thinking about your health my friend.... On to the next project! 🤜🏻🤛🏻🍻
That was a popular color for a long time. Great choice. Those tire options alone makes me want to build several versions. I've wandered at times 🤔 why didn't he fix this or touch up that? 57:46 you just explained it. I get it now.👍
Hip Guy, I love your build style! I've built this 49 Ford as a drag car every time over the years since I started building as a kid in the 1960s, but your stock build is very slick! Next go round I believe I will do the same. Also, I love the music you use for background, as a life- long musician and huge fan of slide guitar and dobro music, your videos relax me and help me concentrate on what you are doing, your attitude regarding building out of the box without sweating the mold lines etc. is a refreshing change. I've been subscribed for almost a year and look forward to all your builds. I'd love to see some drag car related stuff, but will look forward to any builds you choose to show....
Great one Chris, as always. Love the "outa the box" stuff. It's what I did as a kid and still love to do when I just want to relax and have fun. Keep it up man. Great model!
This came out really nice - just the right amount of patina underneath and clean interior and exterior. Always love these three in one models and mixing up the optional parts to come up with something unique.
I’ve been watching you for about 3 years now and absolutely love your work! Your easy approach has helped me become a better detailer! Thx for the tips and tricks! Greetings from Germany!👍🏻
I learnt to drive in the 49 single spinner, my uncle had a twin spinner and I remember plenty of great drives in that too. These were the days before Holden was even thought of, and when they did come along the old fords sort of drifted away.
This was one of my first car models. I got this kit along with the 66 Mustang coupe. This one came moulded in a light blue plastic and the Mustang in white. Painting wasn't allowed as my Mom didn't want me to get paint on the kitchen table. I believe I was 9 or 10 at the time 1966-67 My actual first model was an aircraft - the Spirit of St. Louis and the second was a sailing ship - the Mayflower. The two cars were numbers 3 and 4.
I'm doing the taxi cab 70 Ford galaxie it's coming along nicely I got it from one of your videos one of your ideas That's what made me get it and now maybe this one looks cool too thank you very much for your ideas
Another great video, BTW do you know if the AMT got the Ertl tractor kits and implements? If memory serves me they had a John Deere, International Harvester and a Massey Ferguson plus plow kits for each as well. I would love to see the John Deere 4440 built, as it was an iconic Deere tractor.
This was one of my first kit back in the mid 60’s. It was moulded in light blue back then. It was built stock and I wasn’t allowed to use paints back then. My Mom didn’t want me dripping any model paint (Testors) on the kitchen table. That V8 symbol was a trophy of some kind and was meant to go with the second engine.
I look forward to getting one of these for myself! I am just now seeing kits arriving in our local stores that you built last year! Supply chain issues i guess!
Chris this is mark from Alabama just wanted to let you know I love watching your videos I'm disabled and I watch you all day I just wanna thank you for keeping me sane lol do you build and sell sometimes I love z28s I would pay you for one
This model is now available up here in the GTA. It goes for roughly $49.99 CDN. I think I'm going to buy one and rebuild it as the original has been up in kit heaven for decades.
Nice build Chris, also love the options on this,I'm trying to figure out how to display model cars I just moved where I have some room.i was wondering how you displayed your cool built models.i was thinking about building shelves.and some Plexi glass keep dust off of them.thank you always great videos
Had this kit years ago, found that the '57 Ford Fairlane chassis fit perfectly as a replacement. Looks like I'm gonna buy it again but will leave it original except for the engine--got a '59 Eldorado engine just waiting to go in to make it a shine-runner.
I have 2 of these kits, really like the 50 Fords. I did have to fix body flaws. The left side fender really needed to be built up to match the hood. I know that its an old mold and get that. Wish the price reflected the mold issues.. Over all a good build
There,s a old Ford shoebox! In my hometown by my house for sale car is like brand new! Never been molested or modified just sitting there at the car lot waiting for someone to buy the old car.
Perfect color choice,
I just realized, while I find many RUclips videos music selection annoying. I always like yours. It’s not overbearing or annoying and the builds and music are very relaxing. Another great one.

One of my favorites but I never install "hubcraps " on any model or my own vehicle

Great Job Love The Show.
I applauded your painting techniques - the use of paints that most modellers would never use now-a-day’s. You are finishing them like we all did back 50-60 years ago.
The paints back in the day were better, and you never had to wet sand them to get a good finish.
@@dmgscalemodels2825
You don't have to wet-sand acrylics.
Chris’s use of rattle cans spray, brush, pens, enamel and acrylics, washes, gloves and bare hands is really neat. I enjoyed your build again I always learn something an I always get ideas from you thanks
Outstanding video and presentation

Super awesome work Chris stay safe and positive
One of Ford best designs, love that green , looks great !
Stunning build again. Constantly amazed how easy you make it look
Another great video, and build. You really captured a little older ‘49 somewhat stock car. Thanks for sharing.

Great build - I'm sure my Mom had this car at one time.
Nice build as always Chris 👍👍
great build. the green color made it fantastic. thanks for all your videos

@@kennyspaulding796 I feel it still holds up to this day. Yeah you can tell some of the movie tech is dated but it's still fun to watch.

It's clearly a good kit with lots of options.
Great build. Love the bone stock look!
Also, would make a nice gasser, with some front suspension work.
Looks great Chris! Love the color, great kit! Thanks for the review. 😎

Really nice build and presentation Chris!! This is one of my favorite AMT model kits of all time!! Well done sir!!
Great job on a great kit. That sage green is fantastic. I used it on one of the late 60s Moebius Ford Truck kits and it looks very period correct.
One of best kits amt didd the tires are absolutely the best I ever seen
Love it. I have had a blue one I have had “in progress” for 30 years. I need to finish it.
Cris you are rust happy

Outstanding job as usual Chris! Love that motor detail, interior and that body color!

Great to hear!
Nice classic, that color screams that era 👌
Nice. That is a nice kit. Reminds me of the green 49 my dad had back in the late 70s.
This was the first car my family had as I was growing up. The color was the same as the stock model pictured on the box. Excellent build.
Another great build. I have this kit, but I want another. One to build stock, then hot rod the other.
What is that spot on the trunk lid?
Both firestone rear tires had the same directional arrow so one would be going backward if you used them
That looks like a cadillac custom engine interesting
I love your built and just can' t wait to look at your drag version ☺
Great job 🐎Mr. ED Says Just Have Fun Modeling
