Assos Kai, what a boy! Have to say, IMO Assos is the best money can buy, fits great, washes well and lasts a long time! Plus like you said, it looks good!
Nice. My local playground, a few minutes from the gates. Very lucky. Helped out a guy this week who’d had a tubeless puncture, but no pump! I’m lucky that I can ride in the week, having retired, so it’s much quieter. And yes, the park has a bit of everything. Hills being my favourite. 👍
After Christmas booting up the training...hitting gym and spin hard then April-mid June hoping to do x6 100 milers and x2 200 milers before CTS 21st June ! 😁
I’m always flip flopping between tubeless and tubes and tbh gp5000’s and latex tubes is hard to beat and oh so much easier to live with. It’s just the clean up after a problem but to be fair as you say it worked but look how much material it took for it work. That tier has to be empty now. I’m not convinced about the rolling resistance advantages either especially when people fill them with 80ml of product.
Sportful gear must go down as the best bang for buck cycling gear the fiandre range is brilliant stuff …. High end assos all day of the week and twice on Sundays , their bibs are the comfiest things in cycling
Buuuuuut…. It worked and instead of swapping a tube I just had to deep clean the bike when I was home. To be honest- would have been easier to swap a tube
Kind of a reflection on new cyclists, not really caring about covering riders behind in crap. Most clubs used to insist on mudguards in winter, you had to ride back of group if you didn’t have them.
@carldavey472 can't have 'guards making out £8k weapons look bad for the gram can we? I ride a heavy winter bike with guards and our club has a guard policy. No guards no ride.
Tubeless is great but I now run tubes. So much easier when you puncture and do you really notice a difference in ride quality and speed? Also a punctured tire is now a duff tyre.
Super enjoyable video. I've walked around Richond Park but never ridden. What model Sungod sunglasses are those? At first I thought they were Ultras, but the shape is different. I've never seen that shape before.
It’s great for riding in the Winter Spring Autumn. But in the summer I like to get out further. They are the Airas- they are frameless like the Ultras but bigger lens so better for cycling
@@thewattlife Thanks. I am going to order some. I did not know the Airas had a frameless option. I prefer the shape of these over the Ultras. I was going to buy the Ultras because of the quality even though I did not love the design. So glad I saw that there is another option.
They don’t come with a second lens but you can buy spare lenses. They are SunGod Airas. I have a low light and a normal pair. The low light makes it look like sunset during the day, nice soft light
£125-£150 for a jersey is ridiculous though. Probably costs less than a tenner to make. I will never ever pay that sort of money for a short sleeve jersey. Madness.
The mille gt range is £115 for a jersey. There are currently some on the website for £81. Assos outlet is also worth a visit. Large discounts on previous seasons' gear.
You’ve given your frame a pretty sick paint job there. I cycled past without realising it was you as you were assessing it and think I saw you grab a leaf for a wipe down 😂
I don’t think many bike shops organise their own rides that much. I know Giro in Esther actually does a lot but mostly it seems like they are hosted by brands that use the shops as a start/finish.
Mostly from Instagram and people/brands sharing them on their stories. The Clubhouse always reshares stories of brands hosting rides, which is how I found the Maap one. They are usually hosted out of bike cafes/stores like VIA, Clubhouse etc
Yes, basically. I don’t have a group of mates that can ride every weekend out near me so often will head into town and that’s where a load of my friends all live and cycle
Hey Max enjoyed watching your video, how are you getting on with the Hyper D67’s ? I’m thinking about investing in a set in the new year for my west London rides , keep up the good work 👍🏽
Yeah love them- they’ve held up great after riding them in Turkey in the thunder storm and the Hyper 3 are a star ratchet which I prefer and sounds good! 23mm internal which works for me as I run 28mm tyres so they sit a bit wider
I have a maap jersey it's OK, but I also have an assos jersey which is lovely, great fit, zipped rear pocket on left side makes a difference for a left hander, bought from the assos store in London, not a website which makes fit easier to sort. Also chamois cream is extremely good as is the skin repair gel, not a sponsors post because 55 uear old blokes don't get sponsors
Full disclosure. I went into a bike shop the day before and asked them to throw some More in because I had a feeling it was slow leaking. So I don’t actually know
Thank you for documenting these rides. These brand events are interesting because there's always a contingent of ultra-fashionable "cyclists" who attend, but who disappear sharpish at the end (or oftentimes before the end). I'm not talking about the normies with pockets and saddlebags stuffed to the brim. I'm talking about the people with perfect skin, perfect kit, and perfect bikes. If you go to a traditional club ride, these people do not exist. So, who are these people? Are they hired by the brand for purely aesthetic purposes? Max: this is your mission if you choose to accept it.
Thanks for the footage of the mess sealant makes when you have a puncture. I would hate to be the one cleaning that up. Did anyone in the group get sprayed? It reinforces my judgement to never use tubeless setups again. Using TPU tubes and when I flat the only time spent is when changing a tube, nothing more. 😉
Somehow I don’t think I sprayed anyone. One of the just just pointed it out so I’m not 100% when it happened. Had to do a FULL DEEP CLEAN when I got home. At least my bike looks great now
650 for 50s is killer power. legit. and talking about punctures.... 2023 I should have changed my name to "The Puncture Life" had more than 50 the whole year. 24 was only better because ive been off the bike for half the year haha.
I’m getting there. Strictly cycling for the last 5 weeks and no running, plus a structured training program. Jan will do my local climb which I have a 2:42 PB for and want to see if I’ll have improved. Thanks though man
@@blaze1148 i had more punctures in 2024 than I have all the years since 2010 combined. Moved to middle of nowhere florida and picked up every single roofing nail, shingle staple and piece of broken sharp metal on the road in a 10mile single lap loop around here. Have ridden gp5000s tr and other popular 28c tubeless rubber for like 7k miles and after non stop, non sealing, ride ending punctures I gave up with tubeless completely and went to ultra thin high road SL's with tpu tubes, saved huge weight, dramatically increased comfort and no mess when I have a puncture. the following 7-8k miles that year had the same frequency of pickups and the performance jump to ultralight rubber and 85psi made it a net positive to ditch the tubeless. lol. Looks that way but they are on 30 min drives to get to West London.

Max, the London scene looks good, but you really need to get out to the Yorkshire Dales, my backyard. It's stunning......
I think that Atiba guy just has a naturally high cadance. 😅 Nice meeting you!
