📊 Wondering how to find a job in France? Contrary to popular belief, it’s not totally impossible to find full-time work in France as a foreigner. We should know, we both did it! In this video we’ll talk about our educational and professional backgrounds, our job search experiences, and the important practical information you need to secure a job in France as an American. As foreigners working in the fields of Logistics and International Relations, we want to show others how we went about starting our careers in France and dispel the rumors that anglophones are bound to struggle to find non-teaching work here. We don’t have French or EU citizenship, we’re married to each other, so we didn’t have any relationship-based work perks, and we didn’t stumble into getting our jobs or catch a lucky break. To get the scoop on how to work in France, watch this video! Are you looking for a job in France? Do you already work in France as a foreigner? Let us know in a comment, and as always, don’t forget to like the video and subscribe to our channel!

Congrats to you both for having landed interesting jobs in your fields of studies.
Thank you! 🙂
Very helpful and detailed! Impressive for such a young couple. 😊
Perfect timing. Thanks for this video
First of all, congratulations on landing jobs to both of you and to be frank, very impressive background. That being said, amazing PR of what you guys have achieved yet I do not find this helpful since it’s not about how to land a job but what you need to land a job.
But once again, congratulations and all my best:)
We talk even more about the job search in our Q&A video and our related blog posts, all linked in the description for your convenience.
Congratulations on the new jobs 🥳

Wooowwww this is crazy, I nearly sent you guys a message on instagram today requesting a super similar video to this one! Thanks so much to you both! would love to study then work in france. i learned french and i'd be ready to do it, but unfortunately the starting salary for psychologists in france is maximum about 2000 bruts, which is way less than the 2,600 that's necessary for the job offer to not be "opposé". I'm looking into siwtzerland and belgium now. It's pretty rough to ask a new grad to earn that since most jobs make less than that, right? or am I misunderstanding that rule? btw, love your videos i've been following for a while. you actually inspired to go and learn french in france in the first place haha.
Thanks for your support! It’s amazing that we played a part in you learning French in France, thank you for sharing that with us. Indeed, finding a salary that is at least 1.5 times the SMIC isn’t always an easy task. We can only speak for our own sectors and experiences, and it was possible for us. We can’t say we know much about working in the field of psychology in France, so we aren’t able to advise you there. We wish you luck in finding the right path for you!
congrats on landing jobs!!
Thanks so much! 😎
Hello guys! Thank you for such a detailed story. What would you advice to do in this case: I finished my master's studies in june 2024, but my student visa is valid until june 2025. Do I need to switch to RECE immediately or is it better to search for a job having student visa and switch to RECE when a job found/ student visa comes to be expired?
Hello! You’re welcome and thanks for watching. Could you give us the details on why you have a student residence permit that goes a full year past the end of your studies?
I staying as dependent.could you please help with part time atleast
Can you please explain if you were able to accept a cdi with the aps visa. Hr in my company is giving me difficulty; did they have to post the job for 2 month to prove that they could not find a French person to fill in the job?
Hello, we were both able to accept contracts that extended past the expiration dates of our RECE residence permits and begin working.
As our jobs met the salary requirements and were in line with our fields of study, they did not have to post the job for three weeks on a site like pôle emploi and justify why they chose us over a French/EU national.

Hello sir can you help to apply I stay in prague a big please
Hello! If you have specific questions, let us know, and we can do our best to answer them. Otherwise, we are just here to share our experiences. 😊
Hello, I am having trouble finding a job. How did you exactly find a job? Did you use LinkedIn? Another program? I’ve sent 100s of CVs. I’m on my APS but still haven’t found a job.
Hi Michelle, we definitely used LinkedIn to search for full-time jobs in France. In this article, we go over the different sites we used during our job search and share other key details that might interest you: thefrancofile.net/how-to-get-a-full-time-job-in-france-after-your-studies-as-an-american/
Don’t hesitate to check it out and good luck! 🙂🍀
@@the_francofile okay, I checked it out and it says exactly the same thing that you said in your video. So unless your advice is to go back and get my third masters degree, could you please be more specific with your job search tactics? I am on LinkedIn everyday and this tactic is not working for me. Any other tips?
Actually, our article tells you the exact information you are looking for. This is what worked for us, nothing more and nothing less.
Jalen sent out 25 applications using online platforms including LinkedIn, Indeed, and company-specific online applications.
Maria sent out 44 applications using online platforms including LinkedIn, Indeed, Welcome to the Jungle, Coordination Sud, Jobs Projets Européens, and organization-specific online applications.
If similar tactics don’t work for you, you should consider that different fields, levels of French fluency, relevant work experience, and more all play a factor in landing a job in France. In other words, job search tactics may not be the only thing you need to focus on.
@@the_francofile Thanks! Maria had more success obtaining job interviews on which platform?
LinkedIn and Jobs Projets Européens were the most fruitful.
Have you ever had to file taxes in france… like for the French gov?
Yes!
@@the_francofile i would love to know how that went
Not helpful
Why not?
Y’all got LinkedIn? Lol
Depends who’s asking. 😏
