But don't forget those who cared for her during her long slumber, making 4014 the perfect candidate to for restoration. The Southern California Chapter of the Railway and Locomotive Historical Society did an amazing job over the many decades she was on display of upkeep. She was the centerpiece of their collection, and parting with her was not an easy decision. They even billed themselves as "Home of the Big Boy". Please take time to mention them when you talk about the restoration. While you did the heavy lifting, they helped make it happen too.

Man, I just got to see him a week ago in person, this is the beast of the railway no other words stated, it’s loud big and amazing to see thank you guys
A system wide tour? I better start making my way to LA to catch a glimpse of it this summer!
A run to Kansas City or Texas might be in the works too, since they're now on some UP trackage!
Hopefully they still care about their Vegas system, I'd to love it in person myself.
Crawled all over it when it was @TheFairplex and I'm happy EVERYONE gets to see BACK TO LIFE !
@@linkfan95: It's scheduled to be in Vegas from October 6th through the 8th.. .
did u make it?
Return of a giant and a piece of American history. Thank you Union Pacific.
I can't hit the like button enough. It's a shame that I'm in CSX Territory with no connection to freight or passenger service, just grain and fertilizer, Indiana for you. Long live UP Big Boy 4014!
Thanks Union Pacific for providing the means to restore this wonderful locomotive to working condition and the Company and all your staff can be very proud of this achievement that all Americans who see 4014, and 844, can share. Good luck, travel safe and God Bless you all.
I wish my dad was here to see this he loved steam engines.
I don't know what to say. She's glorious. Salute to Ed Dickens, the entire UP steam team, and Union Pacific, the greatest railroad ever. AWESOME!!
Awesome! Never thought I would see one back on the rails. Fantastic! Well done and Congratulations.
Literally the best railroad company
Yes, thank you UP for your dedication to history and preservation of living steam.
So happy it’s restored! Well done UP!
Ricky’s Train Videos thx
Looking back this is one of the most important pieces of American history even though it’s in the modern generation. We will never forget this. Welcome back big boy
I plan on bringing my family (all 5 of us), from Australia to see and ride on a rolling piece of history.
What an amazing video, it was surreal to see this Beautiful peace of machinery under steam.
About 25 years ago, I heard a UP Public Relations spokesperson call the Challenger to Atomic Weapons of Public Relations. UP, you now have the Hydrogen Bomb. Thank you for doing this UP; preserving your corporate heritage, and all our American heritage. Well Done.
Thank you Union Pacific for bringing the big boy back to life once again and thank the lord for making it possible
Bloody Done!, Good job UP you rock for bringing back this history machine, Welcome Back Big B
Truly amazing! You guys did an outstanding job on bringing 4014 back. As a Pennsylvanian, I hope one day I’ll be able to fly out to Cheyenne to see the machine myself.
To call it a a work of art would be a woeful understatement. Thank you Union Pacific for helping us win the war and keeping American history alive!
Get hyped
Cool seing you here!
I wish to thank the Union Pacific for allowing, suppotting, compleatting, operating and maintaining of the Union Pacific Locomotive 4014 and the Union Pacific Locomotive 844. I hope to see in the near future the Union Pacific 3985 back in full operating condition. I would love to see Union Pacific 4014 doing what he was built for taking a freight train between from Cheyenne to Ogden.
Thank you Union Pacific for bringing this incredible piece of history back to life.
A great achievement by all involved - now future generations can witness history.
Finally got to see this big fella steaming thru the North Texas countryside from Pottsboro to Denton yesterday
Ran alongside it at 50mph as it blasted the whistle and cranked along like some fire and brimstone breathing dragon from legend
Loved every bit of it
Thanks UP
Ya'll did a great job!
You have literally made a life-long pipe-dream of mine come true. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.
Thank You UP for bringing it back. Matt C.
I have to say, I really want to see this engine. Thanks UP for bringing this bad boy back to life!
What an amazing achievement, well done UP. 4014 looks and sounds fantastic and teamed with 844 what a start to its new career. In public relations your have hit the jackpot. Love to see it hauling freight as it was designed and built for, needs a good workout every so often.
Thanks to the Union Pacific steam shop and crew for all of your incredible restoration of the 4014. As a boy I lived a 1/4 mile from the S. P. mainline @ Fairfield California. I watched the Cabforwards rumbling past. I still live 200 yards from those tracks, now U.P. mainline. I am hopeing to see the
4014 rumbeling down a track near me.
Well done UP! Thank you for taking the time and effort to restore this icon. My hat off to the entire steam shop crew for this monumental feat. I hope you post the system tour schedule, I'm NOT missing Big Boy when it comes to Iowa.
Awesom! Just awesome! I am so thrilled to see that iconic engine back on the rails! My hat is off to the Union Pacific, and all those who worked to bring this marvelous machine back to life.
Well done!
I am also proud to say that my father worked for UP right up to his retirement. So I feel a special connection to Uncle Pete.
The golden age of railroading bought to life
Union pacific I love you guys and so so so happy to see a big boy run before
Thank you random team from France, for restoration on Big Boy 4014!
