This looks spine chilling. I love when it's not straight up zombie but more complex. A few series have done this well, like the Australian show "Glitch", the French "The Returned" and it's English version.
Les Revenants is one my favorite shows of all time I’m so glad there’s still stuff like it coming out
What's more spine chilling is how mentally ill you are. You're not a mermaid.
In The Flesh was pretty good
Guys Pantyhouse
This is based on a book that is very good.
This looks like the kind of horror film that slowly sinks into your bones and gives you the chills.
Absolutely
A very well done and intriguing take on this genre
Perfectly stated.
No, this is drama with horror aspects/environment. This won’t give you chills. This makes you perhaps sob and ponder about life.
@@marku.9644 have you seen the movie or read the book?
@@marku.9644 If so, they've failed to capture the essence of the book.
I read this book YEARS ago and I'm glad that it's officially being adapted to film and they're keeping it loyal to the source material and Swedish culture. This is gonna be creepy and heartbreaking... can't wait!
They've moved it to Norway
Is it better than let the right one in?
@@mrmagoozle Let the Right One In is a better story, in my opinion, but Handling the Undead is unique in its own way and definitely worth the read if you haven’t read it yet.
«Swedish culture»…? Yet it is a Norwegian movie..?
I'm so excited. I adore his work.
Hell yeah, Renate Reinsve and Anders Danielsen Lie blew me away with The Worst Person in the World. Now they are both back with a horror film based on a book by the same person who wrote Let the Right One In? Sign me up.
100%
Advent: Let us Adore the King Our Lord Who is to Come by Sensus Fidelium.
It is not the same. Its more about reanimated corpses and how society will deal with it. More about grief and loss than a "walking dead" type of thing. I read the book.
@@19blondie93really good book, though. Actually haven’t read one of his that hasn’t been.
I vaguely remember reading the book, but I know I’ve read it. From what I remember, it had a very interesting somewhat spiritual take on the undead and was a departure from the typical stories you’d see in the genre of… I’m just going to “zombies” despite the comparison not being quite accurate
A brand new vision in the zombie genre. It looks amazing. Can’t wait.
The book came out in 2005, so not really "brand new". It's a very unique take though (his other books are also special and well worth a read!)
The Cured (2017) is also a horror "drama" film. The zombies are still dangerous but most of them have already been cured. And the ones who are cured have trouble re-integrating back into society.
@@FORBIDCharlie1986what about Warm Bodies? Is that considered similar to this?
Its basically a regular zombie movie but later on it’s revealed the true motivate on why they kept eating brains was to remember. And the cure was basically “love” 😂 making them remember their human nature
I really like this approach. Typically Scandinavian - much more subtle and creepy rather than immediately gory (i.e. American style).
American tends to go for pure entertainment value, although there's different sub-genres within. You can find your cerebral horror, it's just harder to find because it's less valued. I thought Life would be one that's a fair mix of both. I find most horror stupid, not scary. There's no brains in it. Life was one of those that gave me the heebie jeebies. At the same time, I'm still a fan of the Walking Dead. I think zombies are, overall, the dumbest idea, but it's an entertaining thing to watch.
Idk it reminds me of Japanese horror
I read this book when it came out about 15 years ago and it was excellent - not really a horror, but a heartbreaking study of love of and loss.
I loved how "Let the Right one In" used the veneer of Horror to explore deeper concepts of life, love, and acceptance. The movie was a masterpiece. This looks very much the same.
very beautifully made... it taught us how to move on after our love ones die or we'll face huge consequences if we still accept them even though they are undead
Neon, thank you so much for reuniting Renate and Anders on the screen. This trailer is a gift and we are looking forward to watching the film. What a day
a lot of people talking in the comments about how this is an exciting new twist on the zombie genre, but my first thought upon seeing this trailer was, “hell yeah, another zombie movie that understands that zombie movies are almost always about grief”
Nonsense, zombie movies are about primal fear
You mean conformity?@@legion999
The origin of the zombie monster is about loss of agency and basically being a slave.
I thought zombie movies were about cell phones
Exactly. That is a big part of the book this is based off of.
The book is utterly haunting and unsettling (especially the Elias subplot) and it looks like the film adaptation has captured that really well.
Holy Sh*t, this looks fantastic! It’s as if someone asked Ingmar Bergman to direct a zombie movie and Bergman was like, “Ok, hold my beer!”
This is one of my favorite books and if it's anywhere near as good and faithful as Let the Right One In its going to be incredible
Such a great, totally ‘out there’ book. Highly recommend reading it.
Cool to see Renate Reinsve in another movie, especially one with a premise like this.
This is giving me goosebumps, I remember reading the book over 10 years ago and thinking why wasn't this a movie
me too
I really love the novel "Let the right one in" by John Ajvide Lindqvist.
I love the original film adaption from Sweden and I like the remake from United States.
As far as I know there is a trilogy of novels: the first one is about vampires, the second one is about zombies (this film) and the third one is about ghosts.
I can't wait the see this movie.
Which book is the one about ghosts?
@@MexiikaliBoy After the release of the Swedish movie "Let the Right One In" I read somewhere about a trilogy. I never searched about that until I saw your question.
I found that the story "Kiln" is about ghosts, but it is a short story available on Spotify. I will search for more novels.
In México is difficult finding translated novels from this author. I remember the printed version in Spanish translation for "Let the Right One In" but with the names "Owen and Abby" (US version) instead of the originals "Oskar and Eli".
Greetings.
i think i better go order the books 📚
It's been a while since I read it but Harbour was his third novel and was essentially a supernatural ghost story. It didn't match Let The Right One On or Handling The Undead in my opinion, but I still enjoyed it.
None of these books are part of the trilogy Ajvide Lindqvist wrote. He has written Hanteringen av Odöda and Låt den rätte komma in about zombies and vampires, several other books, and a trilogy, which has a different theme altogether.
This seems fascinating. European cinema is at its peak these days, so there's no doubt this will definitely be worth watching.
It revives the feeling of 'The Returned'.
Oh gosh, that poor little animal!!
Ooohh, the book was great. A scene involving a cabin on a lake creeped me out so much. Looking forward to seeing it on screen!
OH MY GOD!!!!! I never thought this would ever be a movie, can't wait to watch
This looks amazing. It really feels like they kept the vision and feel uf the book and the quality of priduction to match. Lindqvist deserves his roses for the art he has crafted
How she holds on to her dead child breaks my heart 💔❤️
Awesome trailer, don’t care what language it’s in would love to see it, I smell something very fresh here and new
Neon, you beautiful bastards! This is what we need🔥🔥🔥
DANG! connotations galore from the title alone then add this movie trailer and i am uneasy thinking about how much i want to see more -
OMG chills! I haven't read this book in many many years and I'm so thrilled there's a movie now and it looks amazing.
THIS LOOKS AMAZING. Excellent music for the trailer
I like horror movies with a double meaning, so this one could be about the supernatural undead yet also be about, for example, the psychological horror of not letting go of our grief or being obsessed with holding onto someone beyond what is natural.
not its definitely about walking zombies...
After watching The Worst Person In The World I’ll see ANYTHING with Renate Reinsve in it! Can’t wait!
Cinematography is brilliant!
Just got my online Sundance ticket for this!!!! I can't wait!
neon is like a24 before a24 was a24
holy shit !!!!! this trailer gave me plenty of goosebumps that i cant even explain!
Ahh. Just like the previous the dead come back show, The Returned.
I love this trailer. I am also eagerly anticipating when I will watch it. I find the premise interesting and also Fascinating. I feel a bit of dread and unsettled watching this, being that its not a normal zombie flesh eating outbreak kinda movie - at least from what I can see in this trailer. This looks and feels more like a drama with very tough and unsettling actions, decisions and questions about life, death and ultimately how to move on from grief and the finality of death.
Anders Bohering Bravik
I've noticed that the concept of these kind of mass zombies has been used in several TV shows and movies such as "Glitch" from Australia, "The Returned" from France, and its American adaptation, including the Icelandic’s “Katia,” which all had an unsatisfying ending. However, I'm a big fan of John Ajvide Lindqvist's work, so I'm looking forward to his take on this theme.
I love Let the Right One In. Definitely gonna watch this🙂.
Looks absolutely chilling. Can't wait.
Let The Right One In was a crazy read and great watch. I hope this is as good
I read the book recently and it's probably one the most unique zombie stories out there, sad and hauting too
Neon is releasing some bangers for real!!
This looks like such an interesting premise, and the acting seems great!!! Can’t wait to watch❤
Wow. The novel was chilling and eerie. It seems the movie will keep that.
Cool! 😃 I enjoyed the book and the original 'Let the Right One In' is one of my favorite movies.
IT LOOKS AMAZING WOOOOOW
The rabbit scene means I will not be watching that lol! I’ve had too many pet bunnies over the years.
I'm afraid I'd do the same or just try to skip that scene, but the overall movie looks fantastic and hope many people will go see it.
I know the bunny is fake and all that, but seeing them distressed or hurt in any way just ruins my day.
Call me snowflake as much as you want, but it's something that just "clicks" in me and can't do much about it. Same reason I stopped watching Umbrella Academy, lmao.
It's just a fluffy snack.
I thought it was a kitten at first but yeah, I can’t watch. My stomach is still roiling from the screams. 🥺
I feel like this movie is going to make me cry way too much.😭
The cynical explanation has to be: “A mishmash between “Dawn of the Dead” and “Pet cemetery”” but it looks nicely done and it seems to take its time to build up the tension
Hauntingly beautiful at least from the trailer.
Loved the book can't wait to see this movie 🤘
The book was outstanding so I have high hopes for this
omg, that trailer gave me chills, so creepy. Looks good!
Looks amazing, wow!
It's a good book and this looks like a faithful adaptation.
I'm a fan of the movie, Let the right one in. The moment I saw the thumbnail, I knew it is something like the Let the right one in movie. I'm very excited to watch this.
This looks wonderful I can't wait.
This is so intriguing.
It's been a while since the world has seen a new take on the zombie movie genre.
I'm betting it'll be even scarier and creepier than the trailer makes it seem. *fingers crossed*
Looks great. Excited for this
I adored this book and hope the film is good.
Love a good Norwegian movie! This looks really good!
the book was amazing i look forward to seeing this on film
This looks like it could be good. There is a novella called "Roadside Picnic" about the aftermath of an alien landing in Russia. The aliens landed, they scattered all kinds of junk around the site, they took off again, and now men called "stalkers" enter the landing zone to retrieve these items. One of the effects of the landing is that occasionally the dead in the area come back to life and return to their homes, and this movie looks a lot like that.
We should certainly understand by now, don't hang around with the undead. It never ends well.
looks like something i'd rather watch than a lot of things i'm stuck watching. hope it comes to the states soon. in the meantime, there's the book 😃
Wow! What an original concept! A lot like rap.
Reminds me of the French series, Les Revenants(The Returned). They made an American remake, which completely gutted the overall tone and look, but it very much reminds me of this movie.
I'm not a huge zombie movie person but this looks beautiful and I want to see it!
Looks amazing. Haunting scenes.
The book is amazing! ❤
I wonder if this adaptation will include the short story conclusion THE FINAL PROCESSING, which really ought to have been part of the original novel.
Wow some beautiful shots here this looks really good great mood excellent
Finally, a fresh take on the zombie genre! 🧟♂️ 🎉
Yesssssss this is what we neeed
Wow this looks very interesting. I feel the artistic look of the movie is something along the lines of 28 Days later , having a certain style it looks amazing
I am so in for this one.
John Ajvide is the King of horrorstories and I love all of he's books! ❤
Looks gorgeous.
From the same guy that wrote Let the Right One In? Damn i'm sold.....
Looks awesome!
This looks very promising!
This look sick. Have to read the book in advance of the film.
Looks like a horrifying, gripping, out of the ordinary tale, of what one must, and will do , too keep love alive.
Looks like a fresh take on the undead
I wish they would make a movie of Little Star.
Wow looks more like mystery than horror! Fascinating trailer
Based on a novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, who also wrote "Let the Right One In". "Let The Right One In" was his 1st novel, this was his second.
"
I’m so glad this is Swedish, in Sweden, with Swedish people. No DEI nonsense.
This looks really good.
The book was aninteresting twist on the undead/zombie genre, this looks quite intriguing too.
This looks really good
This looks brilliant
Loved the book
This is gonna be intense ❤
А, помню, читала эту книжку - "Блаженны мёртвые" Линдквиста.
Кролика жалко. 😢 Он боялся, а его все равно сунули в руки покойнице. А она отреагировала на его страх.
Yessssss
awesome trailer!
I hope this shows up on Netflix and is dubbed in English, because have trouble keeping up with subtitles, my eyesight isn't so good and it tends to give me a headache trying! Most of my favorite series on Netflix is from non English speaking countries, and it's because Netflix dubs most of them, and so I can watch shows that to me are a lot better then American made ones, these days!
This reminds me a bit of a book, turned movie called Autumn, which was where most people had died suddenly one day, but a few people survived, then one day all the supposedly dead people got back up, and at first just wondered around aimlessly, but then starting changing and getting more and more aware and more dangerous! The book is a series, and was really good, but the movie though okay, didn't really do it justice, and since it didn't do very well, they only did one! I've always wished a bigger studio would decide to do it or maybe it would be made into a limited series on Netflix or something, and done better then the movie, which was done by a independent studio, which are usually better actually, but not this time!
This looks like it will be both creepy and sad at the same time, which will make it more unusual compared to other " zombie " like movies or shows! I wonder when is it coming out, since it didn't say!
Great film! One of the better zombie movies!
