After Mario has been killed for good, Mr. L/Luigi realizes Mario had meant it when he said it was an accident, that he never meant for his brother to die, and he starts to reflect on his actions and realize that if only he had taken a moment to listen to Mario, none of this would have happened. He wouldn’t have lost his only brother. And now there’s nothing he can do to fix it. Mario’s gone for good, and it’s his fault. My interpretation of what the lore would be: Luigi failed right when he was about to save Mario, failing the final blow needed to rescue him, as he slowly saw his brother torn apart, and he ran in shame and horror. As the metal gates slammed shut behind him, he couldn't help but hear Mario's sadness be called out over and over in his mind, from Mario's final moments for not asking Luigi be with him to make sure he was able to fend off the dangers together, as he slowly slipped into insanity outside of the mansion where he lost him... (Small mix of Luigi's Mansion, a small bit of Mario [The Music Box], and saying Luigi went insane from what happened)

Thank you. I always felt bad for this Luigi. Sure he tortured his own brother and killed him but he was accidentally killed by his own brother and he was blinded by revenge that he didn’t even see how much his brother regretted it. And I always imagined he would realize this when it’s too late. When he has killed Mario. Overdue could be right after killing Mario where he is happy but this cover could be months after killing Mario where he realized how wrong he was but unlike alone Luigi, he has his brother because they’re both ghosts and can see each other.
