Oh god 9 year old ancient forum posts.
Was a bit confused at the 'not documented' remark, many of the Japanese players constantly streamed it, counterstopped it and made insane video guides for it recently. It was one of the most talked about shmups in recent years.
Though I guess not in English yeah.
Completing item sets actually gives you special effects which is quite neat:
    Sword: Main shot power up.
    Shield: smaller hitbox.
    Axe: Charge attack lasts longer.
    Armor: smaller hitbox.
    Ring: stronger bomb.
    Helmet: smaller hitbox.
    Staff: Subshot power up.
    Accessary: Charge attack power up.
    Food: Charge meter increases faster.
    Shoes: Movement speed up.
    Treasure: Nothing.
Collecting sets is quite important to power yourself up. Grimlen's speed in particular is quite awful until you complete the shoe set for more speed.
Besides that there are also secret legendary items that require all sorts of different requirements to trigger in certain spots.
You want to complete all the normal sets before the stage 4 treasure chests so they drop legendary items instead for major points.
But yeah if there is one game that would benefit the most from M2 gadgets it's this game.
At first I actually thought they were doing this game instead of Mahou Daisakusen because that would have made a lot more sense.

You shall never escape the time prison of the farm ha. When I was reading through the posts about the game, I thought yours was a great summary of my feelings as well ha. As for the lack of resources, that is cool that there is a lot of Japanese guides, but that information is pretty much inaccessible to most western players, myself included. It would be great if they got translated over on the wiki or something. Also yes it's a major oversight that this game did not get the M2 shottrigger treatment! It's the perfect candidate along with batrider, what are shottriggers up to these days ha. Enough with the slow drips of toaplan, we need some raizing action and we need it now.

@@TheElectricUnderground yeaahhhh, not exactly thrilled with the early Toaplan concentration tbh. Although the later Toaplan games would be cool, and I do love fire shark and truxton etc, but I already have played them a ton on the Genesis ports.

@@TheElectricUnderground They already did with Dodonpachi Daioujou Shot Triggers and I’m really excited for it! Truth be told, I was kinda disappointed with the Tiger and Shark packs because I wanted something newer as I find the newer shmups more exciting in my eyes.

Or a release on Capcom Arcade Stadium 3. That could work also. Whichever way Dimahoo gets released, either via CAS3 or M2 Shot Triggers, either way, I’d jump on it right away. I was happy Progear was released on CAS2 despite me preferring vertical shooters over horizontal ones mainly because I don’t have to worry about death by walls or ceilings which I hate by the way. Doesn’t take away greatness, just my personal pet peeves is all.

I was first introduced to Raizing through Soukyugurentai, quickly heard about Garegga but then not much else - so it's interesting hearing both the history and your take on the other games they've made. Thanks for doing this thorough treatment of this series! Would be very keen to hear your take on Souky too one day.

I feel the polarity system would be much better implemented if you could switch instantly with a separate button like Ikaruga instead of firing off a charge shot. I really want a home port of this though since the art direction of this game is so sick.

On the one hand the ridiculous number of mechanics sounds incredibly exciting, but on the other hand a rank system with such a heavy spike sounds absolutely terrifying.
But such is the way of the quarter muncher.
The temptation luring you in, and the pain telling you to get off the machine

  • @hooksnfangs6006

You're absolutely right about why I keep coming back to these games. The presentation, visuals, and the fantasy setting/theme. The system is very weird and I almost always forget about the charge system lol. Out of the trilogy I find this one the least memorable though. It leans very heavy on the mech side and the color palette is a bit too dark for my tastes. Previous games are just popping with color and have a good amount of non-mech enemies.

Great review. Glad too see some obscure information that i didn t know. It is a good game, but sorry i can t care about the polarity system, maybe because i AM not a fan of holding the Button for such a long time. I don t consider the initial stages a "cakewalk", they may be easy compared to Later stages / but not that easy for initial stages of a average shootemup. There are still arcade steal coins mentality. Would love to see the bullets with other color (specially those small fast Yellow) but It does not reach the lunacy of dark bullets of battle garega. Eighting rizing have a unique style , unique bullet patterns, but they are hard , you really have to BE offensive and dance between those small bullets . Forget dodging to the other side of the screen. Yes sorcer striker is for me by far the best of the trilogy , tecnology were not só developed during the time, só everything is more Simple and charming but certainly not easier.

    • @TheElectricUnderground
      @TheElectricUnderground  Год назад

Yes the long charge mechanic is my least favorite aspect of the game, it just hits the breaks on the pace of the enemies it feels. As opposed to garegga with it's relentless waves of enemies ha.

This jewel by Raizing is as magnificent as it is inventive and challenging.
The game also apparently has vaguely RPGesque elements (magic item pick-up) which some say are the elements of a quest parallel to the shoot to earn bonuses.
To try urgently, this shmup looks monstrous!
I hope it will one day be ported to our modern consoles and PC, preferably by M2 of course. Especially since it's quite the kind of shmup that would lend itself well to a port from this talented studio.

Out of the Mahou series, this is probably my least favorite. But, I still really enjoy it. Bosses hold secret treasures. Gain takes the longest for the charge shot. The fire and ice system is a cool little gimmick, but definitely not a huge part of the game. You are right though, after stage 3, the difficulty gets up there. It would be cool to see a M2 release of this, but till then I'll enjoy it on the CPS2. 1) Kingdom Grandprix 2)Sorcerer Striker 3)Dimahoo
