People may say they think this song is about werewolves, but I interpret it more as about depression or depressive thoughts. For me, when night comes, my depressive start flooding my head or they become intensified. Lyrics here such as “when the sun goes down we’ve got nowhere to run” or “into the night when the shadows in my head come out to play” I think of it as when the sun goes down we can’t run away from our thoughts. Or the “shadows” in our heads that come out to play are the thoughts that we can’t avoid coming out to play with our feelings. Maybe it’s just me but that’s what I feel with this song
I believe it's about werewolves in my own sort of way but that's because I'm writing a manga about werewolves. Reading your comment though, it's not much different. The state of mind of a werewolf is nothing but anger, resentment, and deep rooted regret. Having nowhere to run from these things leads you to do horrid things, and though not a physical change, you can interpret the werewolf change to you changing who you are as a person into a metaphorical monster. It's really good to explore different ideas something can be interpreted. Thanks for sharing, it's actually helped me think a bit more about my story and tying some key plot points home.
Personnally I associate the lyrics more to nightmares that take the form of wolves or maybe werewolves, I don't quite get the depressive vibes of this one since mine is all throughout the day and doesn't get worse during the night, though your explanation is just as good as anyone else and I hope you keep pushing through it.
I love the werewolf vibe that this song gives off. Very nice. The howls and the lyrics relating to werewolves send chills down my spine.
From Ashes To New is an overall amazing band and “Nowhere To Run” is one of my favorite songs!
100% agree with you. This song is a huge inspiration to a manga I am currently writing. The MC is a werewolf and this song describes it all too well. It really develops the helpless nature of the transformation every full moon, building up a major plot point that it's a curse. However, if you notice when he says "not gonna fight, cause I know that there is no way to escape, black out the sun I've come undone, my thoughts are racing" and so forth, it's a gradual decent into madness, but it's so comforting and absorbing you can't help but go down that path. It's like a warm embrace, calling your name into an endless void of madness. I think it's just so perfect.
From Ashes To New is amazing, and the rock/rap combo they are able to pull off is just incredible. I wish I'd found the band sooner, their talent comes out with every song they release.

This and my name are the highlights of this album. The future is good but is kinda like Lucario-feels engineered to be that way. And the rest of the songs are a bit too angsty for my whole enjoyment.
