Magical place. If you want to be the most northerly person in Britain, then this is for you. My son and I walked from the car park to the top and back again. Absolutely magical

A truly beautiful place and definitely on my 'bucket list' to revisit. I was lucky enough to be stationed at RAF Saxa Vord in the late 80's for 2 years and visited Hermaness nearly every week during my posting. I have been back to Shetland several times in the last few years, due to my current emloyment, but always a fleeting visit, limited to Lerwick. Once I purchase my motorhome, I will return.
    Thanks for the videos.

I have a trip to Shetland planned this summer, and looking forward to walking as far north as I am able.
I was wondering how far the boardwalk reaches, does it rise up to the summit? Or if not, is the path easy to follow? Also, I believe it's about a 3 hour round trip back to the car park, does this seem about right?
Grateful for any information to prepare for this exciting day.

Anyone who hasn't visited should do it at least one in their life. There is nothing quite like being the most northerly person in great Britain (for a couple of minutes until somebody else wants to take the title and a selfie😊).
The new boardwalk should make it even more accessible than it was when I did it before Covid but even then it was not too hard for someone in their late 50s with some health issues as long as I took it steady.

      What's it like for camping

@@markadriansneydms I would say that it's not good as the authorities want you to stay on the boardwalk to avoid disturbing the nesting birds and the land is also boggy and you would have difficulties finding a dry, level spot for your tent. You would be better off staying a little distance away and then walking in for the day as it really is worth a visit.
