What did you think? This was one of our favorite areas in all of Turkey! Here's a blog post with everything you need to go before you book your trip to Rize & Trabzon: www.waysoftheworldblog.com/trabzon-rize-turkey/
Hello from Edinburgh, Scotland. Have never been to Turkey but now on the strength of what I have seen in both your videos and the videos of other people I will definitely go at some point. Very interesting. Cheers!
Hello there 👋🏼 I hope you get to go to Turkey. It really is an amazing country and it became one of our favorites. If you ever have any questions about it, please let us know. We are happy to help and share our thoughts on any of the places we visited! 🙃 PS: We hope to get to visit your beautiful country too!! 💕
The yayla's are not abandoned (most of them anyway). They are seasonal settlements only used during summer, when people used to bring their cattle above the tree line to graze the best grass and flowers :) But most people have moved to the big cities, so the yayla's are increasingly used as a summer retreat to get away from the heat and the tourists... Because people here lived quite modest lives, the structures on the yayla were historically nothing more than a small rectangular shed and stable of only one floor. As people gained wealth in the cities, they started to construct larger buildings on the yayla. Some yayla's have remained quite authentic, while others have radically been transformed with concrete constructions. The yayla's in the region where you visited (Caykara district) are a bit in between. There are still many historical structures, and some yayla's have recieved a heritage status, but many yayla's in the district have lost some of their charm. The higher up you go in the mountain ranges, the more authentic the yayla's become, but also the more abandoned buildings you will find. Many of the highest yayla's in neighboring Rize province have been completely abandoned. They were used by Christian Hemşin (Armenians living in the Pontic Mountains).
Hi! Thank you so so much for taking the time to share this!! ❤️ This is so interesting! Next time we are in the area we will rent a 4x4 so we can explore more of these and hopefully see them in the Summer :) Thanks again for this!! 🙏🏼
You were a bit unlucky, the Sumela Monastery was closed in November 1st (due to some restoration works I gurss), so if you were there only a few weeks ago, you'd be able to visit the monastery..
Inshallah!! Thanks so much for supporting us! We fell in love with your beautiful country and I know we will be back many times! It became one of our favorites for its beauty and amazing people :) Thanks again!! ❤️🇹🇷
Hi. I just found your channel. I plan to go to the Black Sea Region of Turkiye in April and will spend about 8 days there. Which area of Black Sea do you think have many things to explore? (Uzungol, Trabzon, Camlihensim, Ayder?) I would like to spend a few days in Istanbul and Bursa as well. Can you suggest the must visit places? The less crowded ones. Thanks in advance.
Stay as much as you can! The area is stunning!! We'd say you at least need 3 full days to explore the basic things. But it all depends on how many things you like doing in one day. Whatever time you spend there, I'm sure it will be enough to make you go back. It really is so so so beautiful!
@@mohdmukhlis1701 you're very welcome! Have so much fun! We also shared a blog post on our blog with even more details. You can check it out here if you are interested :) www.waysoftheworldblog.com/trabzon-rize-turkey/
I think the locals in Turkey don’t speak or understand English reasonably - that’s a challenge. Could you please guide me on the car rentals - estimated daily rental costs and approx fuel costs for say 100 km ride? Thanks 😊
Based on our experience, we spent around $50/day in car rentals. That was for automatic, if you drive a stick it's like $35/40 per day. As for fuel, we spent around $25-30 every 2-3 days. And yes, not everyone in Turkey speaks English, but everyone is extremely nice and they will try to explain anything in any way they can. We recommend having google translate available as it helped us a lot to communicate with people. Hope it helps and good luck with your trip!
Oh hahaha thank you! This is funny because there's someone called Moira who always leaves the nicest comments to us! But I get it now... Thanks so much 💕

@@waysoftheworld_ Ok thanks 🙏🏻 what are some of the reputed car rental agencies in Turkey?
We rented with Avis a couple of times and with a small local agency in Kas. They were both fine. I think you'll be fine no matter what.
I like Aimara's aura...so beautiful and bright...sorry 😉
We agree! She's always so kind and sweet 💕
