the release of Ferra got me back on shang tsung, and this is the most fun i’ve had with shang! especially since seeing this video and learning that spikes conversion.. holy hell! (shang still needs buffs tho)
i saw the bed of spikes ferra conversion elsewhere last week and my jaw hit the fucking floor when I saw it. I do like that the game classifies "airborne" as whenever your characters feet leave the floor. Its not bound to moves or the jump button
the patch also altered the state of some specials to be considered airborne! for example, havik’s torso spin is now considered airborne so you can convert ferra’s up+kameo 2 launcher!
Yep...lots of these types of conversions I'm just finding out I'm not the only shang that does this now....was just saying it's nowhere on RUclips but yep...here it is lol....wonder if the other techs out yet...
Amazing vid bro u got me trying to pick up shang cos i love playing interesting characters like him rain and quan. Labbing him rn and i just cant seem to connect the ground skull after the morph and kick. Any pointers or tips on how u do it?
When reiko throws stars immediately do fire balls 2 or 3 as soon as they pass behind you when you duck them you’ll get a reversal or do a cameo attack like tossing ferra under you it goes full screen
i don’t think bed of spikes is always necessary. using the full kameo bar for a block string isn’t ideal. you can also stagger your f4121 string into terra mix/throw for equally good pressure with half the cost. then you can do a regular ferra and an air ferra for one bar in a sequence, where the airborne ferra will take two bars if you do it with full meter (until that’s patched out)
ohhh thanks for the tips, I dont do the f4121 string into ferra because it can be interrupted, but I risked it on the reiko match because I havent done it before that so it made a good mix. But thanks for the tips, I do agree that the full bar is not ideal just for them to block
The mix itself is something that shang really needed to push him even further on the tier list. Altho I think the health boost will get nerfed eventually😂
His overhead in young form, zoning and combo’s are pretty strong, if you just switch between both forms when necessary he’s real strong. And if you are getting clapped by meta characters, just shapeshift.

Your constant morphing between old and young is amazing to watch. Ferra is such an awesome kameo!
Thats why shang is the best character, his ability to take other opponents moves and make them his own :)
