THANK YOU SOMUCH for the video sir 🙏 For the viewers who came back to refer for basic steps : 1 make dark/light coloured copy of the object 2 give the top object a Mask and reverse the masking (Unchekc CLIP) 3 make masking shape to it and give it b/w gradient 4 apply GRAIN (Effects > textures > Grain) with Grain type: STIPPELED and pereferd values. 5 get out of the mask mode. (ALTERNATE TRICKS with little different output): alt1 : give gradient to top object with color to transparent, then apply Grain : regular directly to the object copy. alt2 : give gradient to top object with color to transparent, the apply Grain : Difuse glow directly to the object copy.
To prevent grains from getting pixelated: click effect>document raster effects settings>set resolution(150/300ppi)& click 'anti alias' . you can increase the 'add area amounts' in that panel to stop large blur area getting constrained or squared.
If you want the grain to look softer, you can also throw Effect > Blur > Gaussian Blur on the mask to ease up the hard edges. That plus increasing raster resolution (I like to put it around 500-600) can help a lot if you're going for a more subtle grain appearance.
Hey! Great tutorial. Love how everything is explained step by step. If I might give you feedback, I think it might be clearer if you explain what’s happening behind some of the settings, more of the why than the how so it's easy to understand and grasp. That way it isn’t just a "follow these steps" but more like a general understanding of gradients so people can do more with this knowledge.
I can't upload a grainy gradient background on the Shutterstock website because it shows the message, 'Your vector contains either pixel-based bitmap objects or raster effects.' How can I fix this?
Thank you for watching! 🙂 I hope this Illustrator tutorial will be useful for you. Don't forget to subscribe, share and like!
