Fond memories of fishing off the slip and digging foot long king rag worm in the mud in the sixties. We used to wait for the ferry to go and lift the tyres to get the prawns and crabs inside. A nice story I heard from an old skipper was that he was sent to get pasties from the shop at lunchtime by his dad. There was some small delay and he got back to the slip to see the ferry pulling away and not coming back. When he asked why they didn’t wait he was simply told “time’s time!”. My uncle did much the same to me as a kid when I was a few minutes late for a boat fishing trip.
