  • POV Tour in 4K of Pamukkale, Turkey. The areas shown in this video include the travertines, thermal spring and the various remains of the ancient Greek city of Hierapolis.
The video contains no music and no commentary in order to convey the raw feel of Pamukkale.
Pamukkale, meaning "cotton castle" in Turkish, is a natural site in Denizli Province in southwestern Turkey. It is one of the most amazing places in Turkey.
The name refers to the surface of the snow-white limestone, shaped over millennia by calcite-rich springs.
Dripping slowly down the mountainside, mineral-rich waters collect in and cascade down the mineral terraces, into pools below.
Legend has it that the formations are solidified cotton (the area's principal crop) that giants left out to dry.
The ancient Greek city of Hierapolis (Holy City), founded as a thermal spa early in the 2nd century BC, was built on top of the travertine formation.
Extensive remains of Hierapolis are located adjacent to Pamukkale.

To the angel of the church in Pergamum write:
These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword. I know where you live-where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, not even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city-where Satan lives.
    Revelation 2:12-13
