the most amazing part is that they managed to run Windows 7 on the latest gen Intel
the most stable os, i still use it too
@@_BocahExactly! I'm using it on old desktops and laptops, even games works better!

you can add DirectX 12 as well using DXPatcher to play the latest games@@shaddow11ro
It's not amazing. The same architecture so nothing impressive
With this overclock we should be able to run gta 6 at a stable 20fps

Pretty impressive. Congrats guys!
Maybe a little stupid question, but how does the board, capacitors and other things not suffer at -200C?
They do, usually lower than -100°C will cause issues. We use heaters at the back of the motherboard to keep it warmer while the CPU stays cold.

How long do you have to run it to be concidered as a result?
I've been in the computing industry in one way or another for 30+ years. I have always known that CPU's can run way faster than advertised / sold. One of the biggest the problems is cooling.
Judging by this video, it lasted five seconds before crashing and that counts

This will definitely fry any well-cooled CPU. Nonetheless great work guyz.
I remember when KingPin first came out for liquid nitrogen builds. Or at least they mass-produced the liquid nitrogen blocks for the cpus... super uncharted territory
I would be more concerned with asphyxiation with the presence of all those cryogenic gases.

It is like having people on the top of the highest mountain. You climbed to there just for the chill of doing it,not to live there.
Finally a machine to run Crysis the way Crytek intended it.
Took liquid cooling to a whole new level 😂 this is aweosme
Noob question here, but I've always thought the use of liquid nitrogen in extreme OC was to maintain the overheating CPU steady at a reasonable regular functioning temperature, let's say somewhere between room temperature and under the limit of around 90°C. Does the CPU have to be in that insane cold temperature in order to perform extreme OC? Before this video I never thought a CPU would work being colder than -200°C lol. Awesome job guys!
10 years, they come with 15.8Ghz and 18.9Ghz with boost.
How much you wanna bet on that? Bc I'm saying it's not physically possible...
With that setup you can play the latest triple A games on max at 24fps, like its a movie
I'd really love to see they run a CPU-intensive software or game.
they did this on my birthday, funny to think this was going on at the time lol
In 10 years well get 9+ ghz for less than 150 bucks

I still remember the first Tom's Hardware video of an Intel Pentium 4 being overclocked to 5ghz. I'm old....😁
Wow, this is Insane! Congratulations! ☺️☺️☺️
They using liquid Helium rather liquid nitrogen. Which cost a lot more, but can get to lower than -200oC temp range.
1,85V is scary. Especially with override
That is the kind of cooling i need for my pc
As soon as something open in cpu, it goes boom
how about a 10 minute load test? :)
this is almost enough to run minecraft at a stable framerate
Do you always just copy what everyone else comments?
I love how the PC fan is blowing away way more than the proper fan (altough I think its cause the LN is so cold its falls alot easier for that fan to pick up.
Finally with this people will be able to play arma 3 at 60fps stable
finally, you can play five nights at freddys with the framerate capped at 30
Safety First
As a medical Engineer, remember NO SMOKING.
There had been a molecular Chef empty the N2 tank. When he saw the mist, he smoke a cigarette.
WOW !
An explosion happened.
He lost one hand.
Do you really think that those nerd will smoke? And they probably knew the risk beforehand.
But ,thank you for the safety tips.
How is a non flammable, inert gas suppose to explode...
@@FayeBae69 it is mixed in liquid N2 too,but at small scale
You blokes didn't listen to the dialog or read the blurb?
They used Liquid Helium.
@@FayeBae69Actually,.... So the Helium they used won't. But if they'd used Liquid Nitrogen, that can burn with some materials.
But what really happens is that the cryogenic liquid flashes to gas with enough energy to behave like an explosion, but without burning, if the ambient pressure drops low enough. Sea level, your fine, but do this experiment on the top of Mt Everest, whole different result.
Its insane!!😵
Que locura, men
You should go in a chemistry lab that can properly vent the nitrogen
Seriously venting nitrogen.
What is in the air you are breathing sir.
@@barneyklingenberg4078 it all depends on the amount with certain gasses tho
Siberians be like "9ghz is that all 😂? come to my country you can overclock to 20ghz on a summers day 😂"
Crazy to think that 9.1ghz seems like a huge amount.....we'll have 1000ghz CPUs in our TVs before long.
So true.
Baixissimas temperaturas não criam supercomdutores?
Isso não alteraria os semicondutores do processador?
Eles aquecem a placa mãe na parte traseira pra evitar isso .
E resfriam o processador .
Superconductors are dependent on the chemical structures, not just the cold.
🥳
why dont they delid first and then cool it with liquid helium?
Because liquid metal does not work well at sub ambient temps. They are not thermally constrained when using liquid helium so it would only be a negative to delid it
@@Jolinator oh ok thanks ;p

Good job. Curious what was the actual wattage though? Only see 150w there which can't be right, can it?
That’s base TDP idk why it’s showing us that they were very likely over the 400W threshold the chip can hit in stock form
At this temperature I wouldn't expect the power consumption to be very high. 150w seems plausible if it's at -220C.
@@Tim_2060The mistake you are making is thinking the power dissipation is a function of ambient temperature. It isn't.
Power dissipation is a function of frequency on integrated circuit technology which uses MOSFET transistors.
@@deang5622 The power consumption of a chip is very much dependent on the temperature it's operating at. Der8auer once did a test measuring power consumption of a chip at identical load while cooling the chip down with LN2. Power Consumption decreased significantly with temperature. In addition, a chip gains stability with a decrease in temperature, assuming the platform doesn't suffer from cold-bugs. Therefore, a chip might only do 5,0GHz at 1,4V at 90C under load, while being able to achieve 5,4GHz at 1,4V at -190C. A video of this is available from der8auer.
@@Tim_2060 Your argument that cooling the chip down makes it more stable is false.
When the chip is designed it will be designed for a particular operating temperature range and this is catered for in simulations by changing delay factors applied to each logic gate and component in the design so they can build confidence that the chip will operate correctly over the desired temperature range.
Increasing *OR* decreasing the operating temperature of the chip changes the timing of the signals in the design.
Going too hot or going too cold can cause set up and hold time violations on the flipflops and cause stability problems for those flipflops. You violate the timing specs for those flipflops.
It is not true that making it colder always makes it more stable.
bro that ventilation saved all of their lifes, nobody is going to talk about it
Explain plz
@@RaMZes9722 humans need oxygen to survive, 600L of LN2 and 100L of LHe2 is easily enough to displace all of the oxygen in the room and suffocating everyone. ventilation needed to remove the He and N from the room

Now make a CPU that runs this frequency without needing massive cooling
