The fact that this was uploaded 6 years ago, that the time in my life when I would come home and watch this video over and over after school was years ago... jesus I feel old.
I've never watched the full stream, but in this video in general, I get this uncomfortable, disturbing vibe. At first, it was just the ending, but after re-watching, I feel this looming sense of dread throughout, everything feels off. I am not kidding. Vinny's commentary, editing and behavior, the game's design, the images used in the game, and to top it off with that nightmare at the end, something is incredibly wrong and I can't explain. I may sound like a pussy, but curious, does anyone else feel similarly?
I think it's because it has that general vibe that most games and stuff had around the late 90's and early 2000's. Like, the era when "realistic" 3d was still pretty far off from being actually realistic, and it has a sort of uncanny valley effect to it, where it's not fake looking enough to really be cartoonish or anything, but not real enough to be considered something along the lines of like, Uncharted, where the characters are supposed to look and feel real. Not only that, but the music, concept, and general vibes are all pretty creepy. Even the goofier songs are looped, and looping always gives me at least a sort of closed off, lonely feel, especially the way All Star was looped, and the less goofy songs are mostly just plain spooky. It doesn't really have a clear goal, or any real point, and it feels like it was made by a generally disjointed, and dare I say somewhat unhinged person. Whether the creator really is like that or not, I seriously doubt they are, but either way, it's really well done, and you can kinda almost tell that some genuine effort went into it despite the crust, and they can probably make some genuinely unironically good stuff if they want, hell, maybe they already have. That's my take on it at least, didn't mean to write a whole fuckin essay, but there you go
