    From what I understand, the new positional play functionality in FM24 means that you don't really need to go asymmetric. Players will adjust the space they occupy to accommodate their teammates' movements. Having said that, I can still appreciate how going asymmetric might bamboozle the opposition!

    I’ve made an entirely new tactic that I theorycrafted… it’s not as good as the one I’ve refined for almost 2 decades now.. but it works wonders still!
    It’s a 2 libaro at CB and one defensive midfielder with two inverted backs. None at the midfield. 2 wingers and 1 enganche and 2 advance forwards. Play a high line, direct with gengenpress. Play with inverted backs, aggressive play and creative freedom. The players has to get use to the tactics..
    I manage to not only save Pedova from relegation in the Serie B.. I got them promoted and the next season I finished 7 in Serie A. Got to Inter Miami and win the Community Shield and MLS Cup and another minor cup. And I beat the MLS scoring record and most wins.
    If you got a tall Striker, you can play with a Targetman.
    The reason why I thought it could be fun is because I’ve never dabbled with Inverted backs, libero and enganche, so I came up with a tactic where it all works out.
    I also got a Danish Dynamite tactic from the 80s that works brilliantly. It was infamous back then, where the Danish national side got praised for looking like Brazilian football.. they could beat anyone 5-0 but on the flip side, they could also lose to anyone 5-0. My Danish Dynamite is less volatile but high volume in goals.

    Really useful mate. So it’s better to think of the formations when attacking. Like a 2-3-5 with Pep Guardiola and the assymetry does that and the over/underlaps help to create that shape.

      @@YGormy Yeah it did. My Leipzig team had an excellent second half of the season with my new tactic inspired by this. We would have won Bundesliga had I used it from beginning I’m sure. (2 points off title).

    The underlap/overlap tactic doesn't actually instruct your players to underlap/overlap more often it just instructs the team to wait for & look for them more often.

    • @YGormy
      @YGormy  6 месяцев назад +1

      Which, at least in theory, would cause your side to utilize that Underlap or Overlap more often. I’m not saying that is all your side will do, but it will trigger them to do so more than if you weren’t utilizing it. Due to the positional play changes this year I have noticed it doesn’t happen as often as in years past, but when the option is there it works very well!

      I think it lowers the mentality of the player further up the pitch on that side too.

    Tried this and after 2 games I got absolutely thumped 9 goals conceded! I’m thinking this is only for elite teams and not underdogs like Birmingham! OI just made things worse and when I took them off it improved the performances!

    • @YGormy
      @YGormy  6 месяцев назад +1

      Bournemouth is an underdog, and it does well. Lincoln City is an underdog, and it does well. You need to have the right players for the right systems. If you are at Birmingham City, I would suggest building into an asymmetric system that fits them or the player profile you are looking for, that will help sustain success for you over time. Building a system is a process, and with being at Birmingham City that guarantees you time to perfect it! So, it isn't the OI's or Asym tactics not working, it is that it takes time to get used to and develop. Going for 2 games is too small a sample size, as you could lose the first 2 and never lose again after that! That has happened to me and others I know quite a few times!

      @@YGormy thank you for the feed back. Sorry I wasn’t having a dig I was asking if it’s ok for underdogs as well so thank you for elaborating that it is! Your feedback has been helpful and I’ve taken onboard your very helpful tips. I know it takes more than a couple of games for cohesion and familiarity to take hold but losing 7 goals in one game told me there was something fundamentally wrong with the tactic but thanks to your feedback Ive been able to tweak them with positive results even in a short space of time! I found your graph on what type of roles to use in an asymmetric tactic very helpful, if you have those players of course! I stand by my opinion that OI are useless and I find they usually break a tactic and I’ve found things work better without them! I’m sure as my team improves and I get more intelligent players this may change! Just to elaborate as you said I have time being at Birmingham! I don’t really have time as I’ve massively overachieved and got promoted in my first season via the playoffs and despite a positive start I went 16 games without a win and find myself in the bottom three! No matter what I tried nothing worked and I was becoming frustrated as well as desperate to get a tactic to work! I’m not very good at tactics despite getting one that worked in the Championship which got me promotion! Maybe I shouldn’t had dropped such a swing in tactics so late in the season and that’s on me but since I’ve taken on board your feedback in your reply and trusted the process I’m seeing a turn in fortunes even a 2-1 win away at Old Trafford! So many thanks for your help it’s much appreciated! Keep up the good work.

    got passing directness and tempo very wrong, the tempo one specifically is just stupidly wrong. it is in the 'in possession' tab so why would it affect your teams pressing?

    • @YGormy
      @YGormy  6 месяцев назад

      It actually isn’t. The best way I can put it is that “everything effects everything”. It all comes together and works as one in the end. The one that it affects the most is when your tactic is “fluid” your side moves as one so you basically need everything to gel and be perfect for it to succeed. So yes, the passing directness, tempo, etc. will in fact have an impact on gegenpress or possession based systems. Hope this helped you bud!

      There were 3 different tactics and yes I use player instructions. However the player instructions aren’t the point of the video, it is the tactical formations and other aspects that I am highlighting that’s important!
