I am so glad I found your channel. I'm new to chicken keeping (almost a month in, and I am loving my three hens so much). I have been watching all your videos and really enjoying all the information you share. I can't wait to make one of these bag aprons! Thank you so much for such awesome content. You are so knowledgeable!
I love sharing information and ideas, almost as much as I love chickens! Thank you for watching and commenting. It's great to hear feedback about your thoughts too🙂
What a great way to reuse the bags. I use bags to bring poo to the compost heap and or to transport to my school garden. I also line the best boxes worth them and ass the dry grass or straw whatever I have available. I love this idea!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Chickens in my garden yes they are. 🤗🤗🤗 I can’t wait to see what else you use them for. 😁. I also use them to transport pummelo to my friends that want the many fruit I have on my tree. They reuse the bags also but not too sure for what....
You have such good ideas! I used mine for insulating the new coop I built. Ours are not so pretty here. I'll keep my eyes open at the feed store. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you. That sounds like a good idea. Luckily we hardly ever get temperatures below freezing so I don't need to worry about insulation although I do sometimes use one as wind protection.
Wow, that is clever and adorable. A little noisy though. Haha. I buy my feed from a local feed mill - so the bags are just a plain woven tan. Great idea. I love it. I hope you and the girls are enjoying a lovely summer there in New Zealand.
I buy locally too. And it's definitely summer here - the trees are parched, my garden is almost cooking in spite of watering it as much as I can and some of my hens have gone off the lay. But at least we haven't got those awful fires like Australia.
What a cute idea :) Yes, I always get feed dust on my clothes every single day...lol I use my old feed bags as window shades in my barn during summer sun - it gets extremely hot and the bags help. I've seen people use them as extra coop wall insulation as well. I tend to use them for yard/garden work when gathering weeds or grass clippings. Thanks for sharing! :)
That's a nice idea :) the chicken feed bags I use are made of paper, which I recycle. If I have any plastic ones I use them as bin bags, to carry manure or getting seaweed from the beach.
@@chickensinmygarden yes, it's quite useful - it's also great to use as mulch. It's an organic chicken feed, bit more expensive than the cheap ones, but I've only got 4 chicken so a 15kg bag lasts for quite a while!
Interesting question. I hadn't given it a lot of thought. There are no commercial gmo crops grown in New Zealand but it is possible for manufacturers to import genetically modified soy and include that in feed. I'm not frightened of genetic modification - we've been doing it since agriculture began, and it has some very useful medical applications - but chicken feed? I think on the whole I prefer as natural as possible but I haven't even paid enough attention to know whether the feed I buy (which is made locally) is organic.
This is terrific! I tried to sew some, but this is far easier and more practical! Thank you!
Great! I hope it works well for you 🙂
I just love it! I'm not trashing a food bag ever again!
Excellent! I'm sure you'll find lots of other uses for them🙂
Your videos are so useful and so fun! This apron will be wonderful to make for my daughter and myself. Thank you for sharing.
This one was a bit of fun. I hope you have pretty feed bags 🙂

They are useful for all sorts of things, aren't they? I'll do another video about some of the other ways I use them.

Fabulous idea!! up cycle, recycle, use it, wear it out! I love your apron I am going to do this with my empty chicken feed sacks!!
Excellent. I hope yours are as pretty and useful as mine. Do let us know if you have other ideas - these bags do mount up🙂

That is neat and cool. Great idea.
Thanks.

@@chickensinmygarden Oh so sorry too hear that. Hope you get some cooler weather and rain soon.
Thank you for the video! I will certainly try this.
Let me know how it goes 🙂

I would prefer paper - it would make more sense to be able to recycle them.

Good work. I usually just put chicken poo in my empty feed bags.
Yes I do that too, but then the poo ends up on the garden and the bag is available again 🙂
Thank you. What are your views on gmo feed?

Love arons. But it’s better to sew them instead of tape
Yes, sewing would probably last longer than tape in the damp mess that I sometimes end up in when cleaning out chicken runs 🙂
