I'm ever so glad to hear real Christian men speak openly concerning worldly issues affecting the Church. I'm Reformed and recently quit my local congregation for a multiplicity of reasons: CRT being the final straw. By God's grace, I've been able to find a small Reformed congregation a few towns over. It is so good to hear the Word and also have my concerns recognised by wise men.
I am so GLAD I listened to this podcast with my son and husband. There is so much TRUTH in it that the men in my life needed to hear. Thank you John and Kyle for sharing in such a raw and undaunted way. We need more REAL godly men sharing REAL truth in a REAL way. This was so good!
Gentlemen, I love that you engaged in this conversion! It's okay to say wee wee. The enemy is throwing all his weight against Truth, his time is short and he has upped the ante. Thank you for having the fortitude to stand against his lies and for fighting to advance the Kingdom of the Supreme God! Don't stop, don't back down!
I am a Christian mom of two young sons and I just found your podcast.....the respect I have for you as Men of Faith is just awesome. All I want in this life is for my two young sons to become Men of God. I am learning from you so that I can teach them. Thank you, John!!!!
I’m a baby Christian and I needed this my dude. I grew up with out my dad. My dad left and moved 800 miles away. And I had no idea what a man was, or how to act. So I appreciate this talk
This is a GREAT topic! I have been preaching this to my friends for years. MEN must learn to be real MEN again! Especially Christian men. Thank you guys for being bold and bringing these issues to light in this dark time!
We give human beings too much credit and too much power over our lives when God is the creator, master of all. Omnipotent, Beginning and end and we, as humans, are a miniscule piece of the time line yet He chooses to use us for His kingdom and glory. What a mighty mighty God we serve. Praying for Men who come across this video and are praying for other men to impact their lives.
Heh, I am @52:29 in & Kyle just talked about the music in a church setting not made for men jumped out at me, because I got involved in Sound & Media because the music at church had no impact on me but I could praise God by making it sound the best it could & I had the computer skills to handle the media. It is how I stay sane with these songs that sound so milquetoast to me. God has been blessing my heart this way for 33 years, even though I came to know the Lord at 6, praise & worship music was not introduced, at the church, I grew up within, for several years later.
I can almost hear C.S. Lewis shouting and clapping from Heaven in agreement with this episode! Many of his most valuable teachings are echoed here. The ending especially was so touching that it brought tears to my eyes. God bless you guys.
Yes!! Amen! I was a super rebellious teen. I fully own all of my decisions BUT I know for a fact that if my parents wouldn’t have gotten divorced when I was 15 and my dad ending up completely out of the picture, I wouldn’t have done any of the stupid stuff I did because I simply would have been too scared to do it.
wow i really enjoyed this gentlemen on adaunted. He and you brought some very clear messages the world is seeming to take out fathers in homes. we need to learn how valuable moms and dads are in family. i pray we can turn our eyes on our lord. God we need you. keep speaking Gods word heard it so clear.
i know im blowing up the comment section but man, this podcast is so hitting home right now....ive been contemplating leaving the church i attend. because of these issues all of them....
Really enjoyed this episode. I’ve had the responsibility of raising 5 boys. 3 are men now, and one is biological. The number one problem is that the culture hates masculinity. My goal is to always look to the word of God to find the truth of what that means and looks like. We know what public schools propagate, but even in some private Christian schools this type of feminism is the cultural norm. Meaning, our young boys are taught to behave in a way that’s dishonoring to who God made them or at the very least unbalanced. Much like how the church is unbalanced in the way Jesus is represented as a man.
Great stuff! Kept saying Bro! In agreement!...I wanted to emphasize this point: Discipleship is so important! Godly men need to be discipling other men.....Yes, a pastor should be sheparding the flock and the Bible talks to this responsibility, but as the men of the church we need to be discipling each other. Churches need to move away from the weekly consumeristic style of One man using their "gift" to feed the rest of the Church and toward a congregation of men and women using their gifts to edify and build up the church. We should come on Sunday fully satisfied from a week of daily devotion to the word of God ready to serve instead of starving for truth and barely getting a mouth full during the 45 minutes (or 3 hours if your Baptist.. jk) of Sunday morning "church".
Great podcast episode! It's true people need to be more serious and educated about their faith, especially college-age students. It will make a huge difference in their lives. Our church saw the need back in 2000 and began the Christian Worldview Student Conference in Newport News, VA at Christopher Newport University. They had reformed scholars from all over the country come and teach in-depth topics that hit head-on cultural issues vs the Bible. It often sold out. I hope there are similar conferences going on in the U.S. today.
Wow. This hits the nail on the head. I often think I have been called to a life of singleness because I am not attracted to Christian men. Much too often they are too... soft.
Yes! Half way through and I'm already on-board with Kyle and his podcast. Maybe the Church should be out there building culture instead of reacting to it?
John, I expect more from you brother. Your guest thinks Wild at Heart by John Eldridge is the seminal work on manhood? Please do some research into what Eldridge believes and teaches. John you have entered the arena of apologetics, James White is the role model follow his lead. God Bless
I worked as a prison officer for many years. Justice from the Father isnt always seen while in this body. Ive seen incest child molesters and rapests do 8-12 months on good behavior and live like kings. Its hard for many to rap their heads around. we tend to put sins in tiers of how horrible we view them and judge from their. Even as a Christian, it would be hard to see the man who rapped your wife walk away free.. he know where she lives now.. Revenge/ vengeance and defending/protecting your family are 2 different things as well. Say he get off, your wife is not only expecting you to protect her but as the head of the home you have that obligation. different scenario, you come home and someone is in the act of rapping your wife.. no Christian, even the strongest, would just call the cops and pray for the guy.. nor would you stay married at that point. I think its important to show the difference in protecting and seeking revenge. There is a reason Biblical social law was put into place. rapests, child molesters, murderers, ect where put to death uner specific circumstances. Society stoped doing that... thats why these sins ramp up.
Sadly even in the church, there are an increasing number of individuals that profess to be Christian, but their actions(especially in the current month) are a contrast to what they claim to believe
Anyone here remember the South Park episode where Cartman starts a Christian band (for simple popularity) and he takes secular love songs and just puts Jesus’s name in the lyrics? Yeah......
Hey CooperStuff - unrelated… will the book (Awake and Alive) ever be available in Audible or Kindle form? I tried to send this to the email addy on your website but it came back “address does not exist”.
I feel the same way, except in regards to the female aspect. In particular being a single female, not married, no kids, no pets, that sort of thing. I’m not one of those females who is into the Pinterest and the flowers and the DIY projects and all of that junk. I’m not a tomboy either, but I’ve never really felt like I fit into the stereotypical “church“ brand of femininity if that makes sense. I’ve had plenty of leadership within the church, I was a worship leader, I served on the main church choir, so on and so forth. I’ve been blessed with Godly men in committed relationships, nothing has been “it” for me yet. As time flies by, I still love my Jesus, but as far as the stereotypical female aspect of what the “church“ projects onto my fellow sisters in Christ, I have absolutely no interest whatsoever. So! Please pardon my grammar, I am doing this through voice dictation because I’m tired of typing for the day. All that to say, I can relate to what Kyle Thompson was saying. I’m going to go over to his RUclips page and subscribe now. God bless my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ reading this! Have a great week.
Honestly i don't even remember the last time my church covered Jesus in the temple flipping tables. People think that Jesus is love peace patient which is true but he is also Anger at injustice Courageous Demands justice. He is not the type person that will be walked all over.
In my mind Jesus is similar to Kratos in GOW (the new series) with Atreus. He is someone who's a bad ass but is also able to control it and notice that the moment he really lost it in the game was when Atreus (his son) got hurt. Then u have the roaring lion who is protecting his child. Jesus is the same way with us. He sees us getting hurt and he is mad! he comes in wanting to be a protective father. Seriously in my family all i had to do to get my dad protective side to come out was to insinuate an insult towards my mom. How many husbands can honestly say they do that for their wife?
Matthew 10:34-36 34"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35For I have come to turn "'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law- 36a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'
I must say that as a man who came to Christ with same sex attractions, Kyle Thompson has been difficult for me to listen to as I always got the feeling he would rather that men like me not exists or at least not be around him. However, I really resonated with him on this podcast. Where are the men who have the courage to stand up and say, “This is the Word of God” with absolutely no apologies? Where are the men who say, “You can have all your social justice programs you want, but unless you repent and accept the sacrifice Jesus paid for you, you will in no wise enter heaven.”? Where are the men who are willing to say God created them male and female and it was good? Where are the men who stand up and say man who lies with a man (or a woman who lies with a woman for that matter) is sin? Where are the men who are willing to say that killing an unborn child is murder?
I feel the same way about women at church. Generally they appear like the most boring, sort of simple people. There’s this idea that woman just have to look good, smile a lot and give simplistic spiritual answers to everything. I’ve always had the hardest time fitting into women’s groups at church. Coed couples studies are great because then I get to debate and discuss with the men, while the women talk about their feelings. Professional women outside of the church aren’t like this at all.
Aslan is a lion- the Lion, the great Lion." "Ooh" said Susan. "I'd thought he was a man. Is he-quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion"..."Safe?" said Mr Beaver ..."Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you.
Revelation 19:11-16 ESV Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords. love this passage!!!!!
Our pastor does saturate his sermons with the gospel whether he is in Deuteronomy or Ephesians, Leviticus or 1 John. He speaks on God’s wrath against sin and how Christ took that wrath undeservedly for sinners that they might be redeemed, forgiven, and commissioned to take that message if mercy and grace to a lost world.
Growing up in the "church", i learned to despise it, including anything "men" related. There's little desire to do much aside from throwing christianeese around. So excuse me if i am a full blown cynic when it comes to this stuff. i tend to keep to myself at church as i don't fit the clique mold nor other criteria.

I shall get this beard oil for my hubs for Father’s Day!!! I LOVE his beard and will not let him shave it (12 years now) so it’s the least I can do. 😂
Two of my favorite dudes speaking that truth! C'mon!
Man this was such a great podcast. Lion of Judah/ Lamb of God. Perfect in every way, thank you Jesus!
I can almost hear C.S. Lewis shouting and clapping from Heaven in agreement with this episode! Many of his most valuable teachings are echoed here. The ending especially was so touching that it brought tears to my eyes. God bless you guys.
this one was especially powerful, thank you John. you cant have the kingdom without the King.
Yesss!!! Love this. Thank you so much. As a wife of a LEO, I can say this is a huge problem in our church culture. Love love this.
Kyle's Awesome!
Love this interview, thank God for real men!!

What a great podcast!!! Thank you JLC for what you do!!!!!
Awesome episode, so much truth!
it took me a long time to realize and praise the Lord that here is beauty in limitation. I grew up in the "You can do anything", era.

Jesus is not like a Flower Child poster from the '60s!

American style Christianity is sub- Biblical
