This is such a cool series! I plan on taking your character design course during the summer, but this feels like a nice prelude to it ^^ Excited to see the next one in the series!
This is a really cool series! I love seeing your thought process when approaching other people's characters. I hope these get better engagement and you continue to do these, it's super helpful!
Even though my character; Bellatrix Orion, didn't make it in this video, it was nice to see you did with the others and I really learned a lot from your redesigns of them. Thanks Brookes.
It's really great seeing the thought process behind the character redesigns and i like how you try to keep the original intend intact at first before doing your own take. These videos are super valuable for learning and i appreciate that you create them! Also your humour never fails to make me smile.
‘I’m on a beach somewhere. It’s nice.’ 😂 These were great to see Brookes, thanks for continuing this series in spite of the lack of engagement on the last one 💯❤️ EVERYONE WATCH THESE THEYRE GREAT *wills it to be so *
These redesigns always have something interesting to teach about simplicity or readability I may not have thought of previously. Good work! And what a creative group of fans you have. These characters are always wonderful to see.
I really love this series! It's so cool seing amazing artists and their characters and the changes/interpretations you make are definitely helpful and inspiring. :)
I'm really digging this series! I love seeing all these different designs and styles, and your commentary gives me so many helpful pointers and reminders to apply to my own work. Thanks for everything you provide us, Brookes!
This is a fantastic series :) It's so cool to see the variety of characters on display and the different solutions for making them read more clearly. It's a little unfortunate that you were flooded with characters from people, especially because it makes me feel a little bad about wanting to send a character your way too, but I think it also speaks to the huge level of trust your community has in you to give good feedback.
I love this series and echoing comments that love the greenscreen, very fun! S/o to Sal theyre the goat and I love seeing your take on their deskgn sm!!
All the art in this is genuinely really cool! Ya'll have some great ideas and really solid art technique. I love this series for thst reason of getting inspired by everyone's art and thinking more about what can be improved about a design. Ya'll are awesome.
This is so good. So much effort in these videos!! All of your takes were really cool along with the original character designs. Probably my favorite series so far. I love seeing alternate designs.
man your vids always cheer me up and i love to see your takes on character design in practice! thank you for the inspiration and positivity you very cool and funky dude 🙏🙏
Oh my gosh so relatable i have to redraw drake the wolf or Jake i might change the name for my animated series called petzootes and i was like his teeth is horrible i had to take some inspiration because it was to horrible then i had to deal with what his hands will be like next oh god this that was really annoying his finale design is almost here
I have completed the form for help with redesigning my character Aspen the reindeer. Hope you can squeeze it into one of your future redesigning characters videos. 😄😀
Love your video ... I am trying to become a 2d animator .. but not traditional 2d animation 😅.. but rigged animation.. and trying to make my own character .. i really have no creativity when it comes to designing anything...
Par for the course with your videos, I learned a lot! Thanks Brookes! And why yes of course it was difficult to iterate on Sal's design that's because their designs are flawless :P (I'm kidding but only halfway, love you Sal your stuff is very cool)
Sweeet this is such a fun idea I have TONS of characters i would love you to redesign!! I cant wait to build up my channel so i can collaborate with you !
A bit of advice for the person who submitted the alien: The grey color of the hair made me think at first that your character was in her senior years, even if it has a green tinge to it. Maybe consider another color that isn't specifically grey (or white) since when somebody has that hair color you can tell that they're older. A different shade of green could be all you need
🤷♂️ from a design perspective, it helps break up the proportions, and adds a little extra identity and personality. But practically, can’t help you there
i like seeing these edits and "mutations". i submitted one of my own characters, but take your time. i can imagine that there are near infinite submissions :)
Seeing other peoples are in your style sits somewhere in the pleasing, but also uncanny valley. Also this video just doesn't seem long enough, getting more in depth analysis about what you did with each character seems more fitting. Instead of watching such a short speed draw, its hard to tell what do did without pausing the video.
Cant tell if this is supposed to be a positive or negative comment, which is defeating, but there are so many factors regarding audience retention that I am already facing an uphill battle with, let alone making the videos longer.
@@CharacterDesignForge I am so sorry, it's moreso criticism, I don't mean to be negative. I'm sorry that it's not doing well, I do generally like the concept, I love your content, it sucks that this isn't doing well. I don't want to be a reason you stop making videos
@@CharacterDesignForge your art style isn'tz it might just be the design switch for some of these that make them uncanny for me. but tbh my opinion doesn't matter if other people love your art. there will always be people that do not enjoy your art.
@@Twentynyne my takes are inherently going to be more technically proficient, because of higher experience, but aren't going to have the same motive, context, and reasoning as the original artist- they should theoretically be able to make something better because the characters are their baby. But if it's just that you don't like my work, that's fine- I just don't know that I'll be changing it in response anytime soon just because.
How would you suggest I draw younger characters when my artstyle has characters with pretty round, sort of cal-artsy like faces even when they’re adults?
I mean I am a 3D artist so something comprehensive as a 2D image I could draw over, I likely wouldnt remodel something myself though- already spending a lot of time on these and it’s likely outside of the interest of most people watching.

Hey, I'm sorry this might sound really weird so please don't take this the wrong way ... but is there some way to get feedback and critique that isn't public? Thanks! 😃
I'm liking this format, it seems like a good sustainable source to draw content from. No puns intended.

I think the IPN logo is supposed to resemble the red white and yellow plugs you see on certain devices. Would’ve been cool to keep that
That would have been cool, not sure if it was the intent of the original artist though!

I think I am not good at lighting. I try putting shadow and light onto the characters. Only use Pencil and paper though, so it is all final.

The vibe I get from Studio Gillian's Mike design is an award show host wearing a suit or tuxedo, now THAT could be a good angle for that design.
