Today, November 17th, 2017; Entercom took over CBS Radio stations in New York and quickly flipped WBMP (92.3 Amp Radio) to Alternative as "Alt 92.3". This brings back Alternative music to New York airwaves for the first time in nearly six years. Here are several top-of-the-hours and station IDs...for educational and archive purposes.
Yes!!! Maybe this is a sign of rhings,to come..Rock music returns to NYC!!..And for tbose who do enjoy manufacrured mainstream tunes theres stil Z100.
Kitkat Bar there is also a WNEW FM. And since then WPLJ has also flipped.
This is a good move by 92.3.
92.3 when they played dance music just couldn't compete with Z 100 and KTU ratings wise for viewers.
Its about Time 92.3 changed its format Z100 has been gaining listeners in the past few years because AMP radio used to play the same song over and over compared to how Z100 give out the latest music quickly to the audience
I just hope 101.1 CBS FM does not get knocked off the air and gets rid of playing classic hits
Couldn't have said it any better. CBS FM is amazing, and shouldn't be tweaked whatsoever.

Thanks for this! Been awhile since 92.3 KROCK was in town! Will need to keep ears tuned see how it goes. I'm on the fence about the new ALT Station ID and TOH. The older KROCK ID's and TOH sounded better with those warped out jingles. These new ALT ID's aren't strong and the female voice sounds like something you'd here on adult contemporary station. Hopefully, the marketing minions will put together a better station promo package? Didn't AMP92.3 use the same female voice?
AMP used a different female VO. Can't think of her name, but it's someone else.
Jerome Myers 103.7 FM in Dallas Texas has the exact same voice.
This station kills me. They play the good old alt music then ruin it with these new, whiny "alt" songs. And to make matters worse, replay it ALL DAY! I tried but I'm losing my patience with this new alt garbage.

Do you trade news music? I know that this particular package wasn’t used in NY, but I’m looking for Cliff Schwarz’s Move Closer to Your World 1994 theme. WNEP in Scranton PA currently uses it, and WPXI in Pittsburgh used it in the 90s. Thanks!

Great video. One of three major market format changes (New York, Dallas, Chicago) that happened in a 2 hour span. Entercom isn't playing around today. They are here to make an impact.

I would be really careful what you say about Entercom. They have ruined some well known radio stations in other markets and also was the parent company of the station that was flagged by the FCC a decade ago for the "Pee for Wii" contest that killed someone in their Sacramento ADI. At their Boston talk station in 2006, WRKO hired a convicted Felon for morning drive at cost of a multi million dollar/multi year contract! (I guess CBS did the same in Hartford hiring John Rowland for PM drive at WTIC a few years ago.)
I'd actually be concerned for not just 92.3, but ALL their stations. They run their stations cheap. That's well known in the industry and the people who follow it.
Minifig Newsguy I remember the Wii contest, but forgot that it was under Entercom’s watch. They ended up surrendering the KDND 107.9 license. I bet it would still be around if it wasn’t for that stunt. As for ALT 92.3, it wouldn’t surprise me if they ran it cheap. They may need a big name for mornings though. It makes me wonder if Entercom would hire either Opie, of Opie & Anthony fame, or Booker for mornings. Both these guys have experience in New York radio. Then they can hire some cheaper talent for the rest of the day. I know it’s not the best solution, but it wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
TVRadio1972 although I do love the hip-hop format on 104.3 FM in Chicago Illinois, I still missed the classic hits format when it was brand of K hits Chicago. It’s interesting, through several format changes they still kept the WJMK call letters. When it was first oldies and then Intothousandfive when it flipped till variety hits as Jack FM. And then back to classic hits. I wonder why 104.3 kept the WJMK, letters in for this particular format change switched them to WBMX? As a sidenote, I heard Jack FM was a total failure in Chicago.
TVRadio1972 I don’t think Opie Will ever be back on terrestrial radio again because both times that him and Anthony got hired for radio in New York, and in Boston they had all gotten fired for various stunts that people found offensive.
Alternative is great for the older crowd in their 30's and 40's who grew up on it from the 90's. It doesn't appeal to some to the younger crowd from this era. The younger crowd is more into house/edm and dubstep. We'll this is the 4th time. Let's see if the 5th time is a lucky charm.

Horrible...what happened to 92.3 NOW or 92.3 AMP Radio because now Dj Toro can’t play in there any more I mean I only like the song s I know but the other songs suck
