Is this writer going to go and fight himself if the Ukraine-Russia conflict gets out of control ? I want to play devil's advocate! For three hundred years Ukraine has been part of Russia or the Soviet Union. It has been independent for only thirty. Crimea was part of Russia as was Ukraine. It therefore might be normal for someone like Putin to consider it his duty to return Ukriane with Crimea to the fold. I want to play devil's advocate! For three hundred years Ukraine has been part of Russia or the Soviet Union. It has been independent for only thirty. From whence came this amazing sense of nationalism and desire to be part of Western democracy? When the British and the French first became allies we were fighting the Russians where? In Crimea! Crimea was part of Russia as was Ukraine. It therefore might be normal for someone like Putin to consider it his duty to return Ukriane with Crimea to the fold. It is not the only lost sheep, but certainly the most important.
You should to go back and read more of the history of Ukraine. Russia is not entitled to Ukraine. Read Timothy Snyder. Listen to his interviews on RUclips. If you believe Russia, then the U.S. should give the whole American Southwest back to Mexico, including Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, California, Colorado, to name a few. Mexico would have a bigger claim to the U.S. than Russia does to Ukraine. You should also give the whole U.S. back to the native Americans.
