- Dr. Wily's first stage from Mega Man for the NES. No damage taken. Gutsman's weapon is required here to progress. Concerning the Yellow Devil's attack pattern, although repetitive, the encounter requires precisely timed jumps.

One of the most anxiety inducing Mega Man bosses for me. There's just such a constant sense of "OKAY STAY CALM DON'T MESS THIS UP PAY ATTENTION".
The boss of this level sucks major assage when you have input lag!
That's how I felt with the Mech Dragon and the slippery, little blocks.

God the music and sound in MM1 was just way way ahead of its time. Inspirational and almost trance inducing when it needed to be to get through some areas.

I could never nail down the micro-jumping shown at 2:42, I just jump over both of the yellow orbs at the same time. I still can't do this without getting hit though; I'm so clumsy with this fight lol.

You should play Resident Evil 3 Remake on inferno difficulty and defeat Final Nemesis on the very first try with no shop items.

This boss is so terrifying, but oh so satisfying when you nail the pattern. One of my favorite fights in the whole series, no wonder they keep recycling it.

I took him down with just buster once, but it took an insanely long time and I for sure got hit a lot. Props for doing it the best non-cheating way!
This boss is probably responsible for more broken controllers than any other boss in video games history

Glad this game at least gets honorable mentions on hardest games lists. When I beat it a few years back I definitely felt like I accomplished something. It’s tough.

I know i'm 10 months late, but a good way to avoid them is to wait until they do a long jump and then freeze them in place with the Ice Man weapon

Good job for taking the Yellow Devil out, everybody hates facing the Yellow Devil in Wily's Fortress 1. It's the first time I got the Anniversary Collection, played the Very first Megaman game after defeating all 6 robot masters, then I have to face Yellow Devil! the worst boss I have ever faced!
I used the pause glitch and it was a breeze!
Dragon Izu you thought that was tough? I tried fighting Yellow Devil in Mega Man 11 and he was very tough. And 11 was the first Mega Man game I played!

Even with a save state right before the fight, this fight took me 45 minutes of straight practice to get through. I didn't completely cheese with save states though, only used 1 prior to the fight. None in between. I couldn't imagine trying to beat this on the cart though and having to redo the level every single time. That's crazy cryptic. Save states allow you to get repeated practice which is what you really need to get through this fight legit without using the pause cheese.
I can do it only with glitch and savestates. You're hero man.

I wouldn't have even complained if you did the pause trick on the yellow devil. That was the only way I could beat him in my childhood.

There “was” the pause cheat when you keep pressing select (pause) repeatedly as the electric shock continuously landed hits. But this feature was removed from the newer collection due the the select button going to the option menu.

Do you know of a RUclips user named RoahmMythril? He actually managed to do this Buster Only (and didn't use the Thunder Beam). In fact, you know how in your runs you would use charged shots in 4-8, he did it uncharged (even in Mega Man and Bass). He surprisingly hates using charge shots altogether actually, but still check out his Perfect Runs (he doesn't like Mega Man X). He's pretty good at it.
Also, nice work on the video man. And, apparently even Buster Only, Yellow Devil in this game isn't very durable. It takes 2 units of damage per Buster Shot in Mega Man 1.

His pattern is easily memorized.
Jumping eyes in beginning, plus most other enemies are ZERO PERCENT unpredictable. How many thousands of runs do these guys on here do to get one perfect run like this... ??

no, it just takes an insanely long time. since rm weapons are required to progress throughout the stage, and therefore couldn't be cleared buster-only, i decided to utilize the yellow devils weakness.
The buster does 2-3 dmg on Robot Masters and 1 on Wily Robots

The sad part is that the yellow devil is actually one of the better MM1 bosses. At least it very clearly telegraphs its pattern.
Do you how to make the Yellow Devil even harder? Use the fire shot. It only takes 1 hit point away each time.

Now that I know his pattern, I don't find the Yellow Devil that difficult. Unfortunately, on the Switch version of the Legacy Collection, this boss is a pain in the ass because of input lag.
Guys... YELLOW DEVIL IS EASY, withouth save state he is easy, and with save state he is a joke, it's Just get the paterrn of the boss and is easy (this boss is hard as hell buster only, but with the weakness it's easy)
Yeah, he’s hard at first, but once you learn his pattern and get used to him he’s not hard at all. In my opinion, the only thing that makes him hard for most people is how much damage he does. He literally takes 1/7 of your health when he hits you.
@@SolarOddity143 ... you could apply this form of thinking to every difficulty boss you would encounter, if Yellow devil was easy people wouldn't need to practice to beat him, hence why some people decided to use pause glitch method, he indeed is hard, if your argument for him being easy is "Just practice until you get his pattern" then you're being condradictory on your argument, an Easy boss is the one you can easily beat without trying too much, Like Bombman, Airman, Magnetman, Toadman, etc... Yellow devil is probably the hardest boss in the game, maybe megaman copy is too, but both are tough to beat, seriously I've seen at least some comments trying to say he's an easy boss when they continue with "JuSt GeT ThE PaTTeN RiGHt AnD He Ez!!!"... if you learn a boss's pattern then by default you know how to beat him, jeez.

I am watching this video because I have the original NES Mega Man games on a 150-in-1 GameBoy advance cartridge.
I believe that hard bosses like Yellow Devil is why Mega Man is not as famous as Mario. The Mario games are a little easier to complete, and therefore more popular in video game culture.
The pause glitch doesnt work on the PS4 / 3DS anniversary versions. Nor does it work on the PS2 Anniversary collection either. Am I right?

mmx5 was supposed to be the last game on the X series, hence why Shadow devil was based on Yellow devil (Megaman 1) and Rangda Bangda had a comeback from MMX, too bad we got X6 and things went downhill

Exactly! These final MM stages need to be re-ran, and I thought while im on a devil streak, might as well. So that's Green, Shadow, and Yellow, all recently. Then actually we fought the devil a couple times recently in Power Battle also lol!
