  • After the defeat of Hive Fleets Behemoth and Kraken, the Imperium might have been forgiven for expecting a break from the Tyranid menace. But just a few years later, the first tendrils of a new, even bigger Hive Fleet would enter the galaxy from an unexpected direction.

@@AMegaByteYT Indeed. The planet in which the Tyranids are named after is also called Tyran, in lore pronounced Tie ran. So Tie ranids is technically the proper pronunciation, I suppose it all depends on where you are from as to how you pronounce it in English.

The shield of Baal campaign was so very cool, in lore, in art and in really interesting scenarios (like the one where a gigantic global tsunami is slowly moving across the battlefield as the Imperial forces try and defend a gigantic crawler vehicle) with some great Black Library fiction. I still hold the end of the novella Deathstorm as personal canon regarding the Spawn of Cryptus rather than what's said in Codexes.

I dont know if you are new to 40k, but dont take it wrong.
Most people have little to no idea about nids, yet they act like nids are "oh them bugs... get a bigger spray can!" (Dismissive) when in reality nids are by far the biggest threat the galaxy has ever seen. To the point that all the other threats combined pale in comparison.
I can understand if new people have no idea, as they have yet to explore a lot of the 40k universe, and we all have to start somewhere.
My issue is with long time fans that dismiss nids. Then, when provided with evidence and visualize it like you did in the video it hits them like a truck.
And wait for another 15 days till the 4th tyranic war lore hits and people realize that the nids are not only comming from the east, from under the galactic plane but also *now* from the galactic west and from above the galactic plane!
If it was bad before, now there is evidence that the whole galaxy is surrounded and nids come hard and thick from all directions.
Let that sink in! Happy wargaming!

Truly one of the largest battles in Imperial history. Other battles like Cadia and Vigilus had more chapters present but Baal had the most marines

I loved those blood angels books, I don't know why but I got it into my head that it would be cool if a chaos chapter of the blood angels had turned up to fight in the void. Obviously they couldn't fight side by side with the Imperial marines, maybe just one vox message would come from them, "We have come to honour the Angel" or something like that. Then they would be seen doing hit and run attacks on the edge of the hive fleet, again and again.

The Angels of Death 3D animated miniseries is set just before the invasion of Baal. Beautiful art direction, good story, looks fantastic, and great voice talent, but characters suffer from a bad case of early 2000s CGI wooden-face because they did motion capture only, not full performance capture. Hopefully the sequel (which is going to be a prequel for some reason) will do better in that regard. Worth a look if anyone hasn't seen it.

What I find this series of video fascinating is that all the stories of the tyrannic war is told from the defenders. We still do not know who or what are the Tyrannids nor what are their ultimate goal except that they devour and devour. Every name given to the Tyrannids are name given by their victims and every battle is told from the point of view of their prey rather then through the Tyrannids. It really gives this feel that these wars aren't against an overwhelming faction but a force of nature.

There is something I don’t understand. If the tyranids can’t warp travel, wouldn’t it take them 100 of years to just move between systems. This narrative seems to move a bit too fast. Maybe I’m just thinking too hard about it.

    • @MagralhoPT
      @MagralhoPT Год назад +3

The narwal is a thing. Its some exoctic tech.
Basically a special bioform that acelerates to insane speeds but not very fast. And it creates a slipstream in its wake that the rest of the hive ships can ride behind.
The issue is, it cant accelerate when its within a gravity well, so the closer they are to a destination planet/starsystem the closer to regular space travel speed they must move.
Intergalactically and interstelar, they are fast! Interplanetary travel, not so much.

And if you see the sacrifices that everyone has to endure just to stop a mere scouting force...
And I laugh at people saying there is a chance if only (insert their own delusional idea)
The tyranid menace its the end times of 40k. No matter what! The whole galaxy could band together, convert all the mass in entire sectors into weapons and ammo and its still not enough.
The tyranids have multiple galaxy-level orders of magnitude above what the combined factions of the milky way represent. And they are united. Sycronized and of a single mind! Anyone who thinks anything in existance can beat that its delusional or a blind fanboy.
