Some people can't accept the fact that Harbor Freight isn't the same place it was back in like 2012. It's their loss, because there is a TON of stuff at HF that is as good or better than anything you will find at the Blue or Orange stores.
Things change. Hey, remember when the best tools and the best selection and warranty on non-tool truck tools was a place called Sears? Remember when Datsun and Toyota were ridiculously cheap cars? But we realized how dependable they were. Now they’re expensive and just not as good as they used to be. So why is it so hard for people to accept that HF isn’t the place to buy just cheap tools anymore?
Or early for some of us. My opinion on H.F. changed after I ordered a top brand name vice. That was supposed to be USA made that wasn't. That vise broke on first use, and the company wouldn't warranty it. Faulty casting, I went and bought a H.F. 6in one still works great 20 years later.
All of my battery tools are Milwaukee . So I'm kinda locked in to that platform but would definitely consider HF brands because even Milwaukee is made in China. Have bought Bauer corded. All great. Just got a HF wood chipper. So far , no issues - saved $116 with a coupon.
Opening Day! Harbor Freight opened in MY town today! Oxford MI I was one of the first to shop in ‘my’ Harbor Freight 😊. Was awesome! It is like I have a giant day time tool box around the corner from my garage!
I used to be one of the harbor freight haters, till I found the den of tools, now I’m an addict, and the manager at the closet one knows me by name 😂😂😂
Ive seen some comments bagging on the quinn socket sets but i have to say that i have a Pittsburgh set for over 20 years now and i ised it the last three weeks building a deck and used a plain socket to drive 4in lag screws with my impact and they performed flawlessly. For the price i paid 20 years ago I have gotten more that i ever expected out of them. It was a starter set and i still have not upgraded. They just work.
Every time I watch your show I end up going to Harbor Freight and buying more tools! Like that VISE that fits in my trailer hitch receiver! Omg I gotta get me one !
I used to think Harbor Freight was garbage. I then discovered your channel, started buying little things and now I’m a believer. I probably spent over $3k there in the last two years and everything has worked fine for me so far.
The band saw stand was a total game changer for when I fabbed a roll cage for my BMW racecar. I used to just use a cut-off wheel on a grinder but the stand made the whole job less like work and more like play.
The Badlands jack is a dang good one, I used mine yesterday lifting one of my Jeeps up to check and pressure wash underneath after setting on jack stands. When it was dropped for sales, I drove to 3 H. F. stores to find one. I got one store's demo model that was supposed to be the display one. Kudos to the manager for letting me get it. Best dang floor jack I've had out of 5 different ones. I've even used it to level up a building.
I saw that bandsaw table last Christmas, and bought it. But my bandsaw didn't fit well, so I got the Herc bandsaw to go in the table. I love the combination. Great saw, great blade, and with a foot pedal, it's wonderful.
My dad been a mechanic and automatic transmission builder for 25 years and he loves harbor freight and always tells me how they have stepped up their game and the tools are fantastic
I get your upload notifications now. Yours is the only account I do this for, Bear. That’s how well you do these videos and how much I look forward to them.👍👍
Best harbor freight secret, get a part time job there, 20% discount and it stacks on EVERYTHING. Anything on sale, the ITC prices even CLEARANCE items will get an extra 20% off. I got a 6 gal compressor for $65. Plus the pay isn't bad for a part time stocking job
HF had the 15% off any one item and I bought the 56” box for $765, along with about 5 or 6 other guys in the store as well lol. I also own all the Quinn master sets except for the 1/2” master impact set, and they all work, feel and look great. Quinn has lifetime warranty, can’t go wrong with that.
I’m a big fan of the Gordon drop point knife. That’s my normal EDC. Holds an edge well, opens pretty smoothly, handle is comfortable and at 10 bucks, if I lose it or break off the tip, I’m not devastated. I lost one last month (actually forgot I was carrying it and had to give it up to get into a concert.) My HF in Helena has been out of them for a month. Decided to try the Gordon skeleton frame - not even close. Once I can replace it, that’s going into the tool box as an emergency knot wrench.
Even though I am not old, I remember when HFS(Harbor Freight and Salvage) used to have internet names like Harbor Fraud and Harbor Fright to warn people about tools that might get them hurt. They have come a long way now that the son is running the company. Great video Bear!
Got my 72 inch top and bottom US General. I debated grey or black for maybe half a second until I came to my senses and realized the only correct answer is the slate grey. Excellent buy, plenty of space without going into crazy debt. Highly recommend!
I used to think that Harbor Freight tools were junk but after watching your videos I have changed my mind about them and now I own several tools from Harbor Freight and I love them!
Great video. Would like to add the Bauer 20V Grease Gun, Bauer 20V ratchets, and US General Power and Air Tool Drawer Organizer. Everyone says they have one grease gun and it is always the display model and nobody will sell it. I asked when the ratchets would come out and 4 workers told me it will be 6-12 months at least so I bought the cheap hyper tough set at walmart. Now they are in new tools on the website, but I can't find them anywhere. Almost went to Hercules, but I think I would get Milwalkee before I spend over $300 on batteries and such.
I’ve been saying it all along catching flack, “Bauer Power!” I’ve pretty much got all I can use now just waiting on the new 3/8” ratchet to arrive next week. Between Bauer and Pittsburg, I have to say they’ve got me covered. Retired and damn busy at it!😉✌🏼
Instant subscribe. I love Harbor Freight and started using them in the late 90's as a source for cheap specialty tools that would get seldom use . Now they are pretty much the go to since Craftsman tools don't really shine above the Icon tools in any way.
I have a few other things in this video. I have a 2014 ram 1500 crew cab, however sometimes it's too big to get around where I need to. So I bought a second vehicle, a Subaru Outback Touring XT with a trailer hitch. I may look to get that small harbor freight trailer for when I have to make dump runs or don't feel like taking the truck.
I am going to go pick up one of those icon pocket knives soon. I have one cheap knife with a good heat treatment that sharpens well, and I am going to give this one a shot because G10 is probably my favorite material for grips.
I hope Harbor Freight stays who they were as they grow into what they'll be. My first "complete" set of tools was put together largely with HF items which I replaced over time with higher end tools and then passed on the HF stuff to my nephews who are now starting to do the same thing.
I definitely do like Harbor Freight! I feel like they are the perfect "AVERAGE JOE" tool store! Ive bought more tools from them in the last 6 months than i have Home Depot or Lowes in the last 2 decades! That Slate Gray tool box really does look good in person! My local store has a floor model on display.
Appreciate your updates. I guess there are some knife snobs out there. That HF knife looks good to me. While I like my SAKs, Benchmade, Spyderco and Kershaws, depending on what I am up to I am just as likely to grab my 50 year old Craftsman Barlow or any one of the knives I have with no name.
Thanks for the tool recommendation from HF (ICON Flex hewad rachet and bit set)! I just bought it, and it WAS tricky to find at my HF! To all of you that go to pick it up, be forwaraned.. it IS in the rachet aisle, BUT it's SO small a box (5.5"x2.8"x1.625") - it took 3 of the staff and I searching for 5-6 mins. to find it. The guys there were all saying the ICON stuff is super quality.. And the price seems to match that assertion! Thanks also for keeping the video short - I don't have time for 15 plus minute videos!
Harbor freight used to sell some tools that couldnt even function as a tool. For example a 9/16 angle wrench, that was impossible to place on a 9/16th fastener. Because it was complete garbage. They have come a long way, but prices are starting to creep up as well
The WEN spiral planer is good (I had a 1/4" of snipe with soft pine). If the Hercules planer swaps out for a spiral head - that would be a 'knock out of the park' (but its not there yet)
At first I did not like Harbor freight. But now I starting to buy a lot more of there tool. I but a work shop chair and I love it. Harbor is ok for some stuff. Thank you red for the video’s.
I've got Icon ratchets everywhere. Home, shop, rig/cars, motorcycle/Atvs/Rails, in my hunting back pack, range gear. One of the best tools anybody makes bar none.
I’m not real big on harbor freight stuff but, anything they sell with the name Hercules on it, it’s better than anything else you can buy anywhere.imho
I never understood the appeal of the little Icon ratchet/bit set. Bought it on one of the 25% weekends and I've used it for almost every project since then - assembling a shed, assembling my hitch storage platform, mounting TVs, etc. Can't wait for the one with sockets.
@@iwriteonshit they showed a larger set with sockets at the hardware show last fall, probably to complete with the Wera Tool check plus, etc. Supposedly coming this summer.

The Jack is nice, but I dont know how I feel about plastic tires. I think I really need metal wheels on anything over a ton that is connected to the ground with cheap plastic
The little icon ratchet is great but if you don’t need it today a new bigger set is coming soon.. it’s on a lot of that big tool show from later last year that. Almost all that did a harbor freight booth video, and it was a nicer looking set imo.
Icon knife and welding table are available in limited stock at several HF stores around me. All the tow trailers and everything else on this list are in stock. Fortunately, I have impulse spending in check, because this could have been a very expensive video for me
Excited to hear about the new trailer coming out. Tip: Do not buy the current folding trailer. I my opinion it doesn't do anything well. Only good for a DIY project by someone who likes to do a lot of welding.
My local HF only ever has the yellow, orange, and white tool boxes in stock. They never have the other colors. They have all of the colors on display though! The badlands jack is almost always in stock. Purple? Nope! They don’t have any of the jacks or boxes in purple. And for some reason, I can’t order the larger/heavier stuff from the website.

I was one of the first to shop in ‘my’ Harbor Freight 😊. Was awesome!
It is like I have a giant day time tool box around the corner from my garage!
Recently a harbor freight open 5 minutes from my house I’m so glad I don’t need to travel across town to get something
@@mejman2 Awesome! walking through I was kind of like “ If it is this close - I don’t need to buy anything “ 😂
Over 1500 stores and still growing :)
Ours opened last year, about 20 mins from us. Which for us is very close. It's been awesome.
That would be amazing!

I made a receiver hitch mount for a vise years ago and had a older H.F. vise mounted it worked very well. The Doyle one should be good to great.

The Hercules portable planer is a beast and a steal! On sale or even full price you won't find this kind of quality and execution at double the price!
A 6x10 trailer option would be nice.

good prices and good quality, just dont use their power tools

I like the planer on sale
Does the Bauer bench grinder mention in the video have variable speed as well?
I wish, but no.
No love for the beam cutter here? It's pretty slick. Plus the cermet blades are kinda awesome too.
I have been really happy with HF. The USG gear is a terrific value and the Bauer tools are very respectable. I have a garage full of the yellow and black and I love all of it. But HF is a lot of fun and great gear for the money most of the time and if you do get a loser - very good customer service in my experience. Shop at HF very happily.
HF needs to get predator series racing going at local kart tracks. Could be huge. Right now the closest Briggs LO 206 engines are about $850 with carb and exhaust bone stock. Still needs break-in and adjustment. Would be huge for getting more American kids racing.
The Jack is nice, but I dont know how I feel about plastic tires. I think I really need metal wheels on anything over a ton that is connected to the ground with cheap plastic
When are we getting the new ICON bit set with sockets that they showed at SEMA?

The little icon ratchet is great but if you don’t need it today a new bigger set is coming soon.. it’s on a lot of that big tool show from later last year that. Almost all that did a harbor freight booth video, and it was a nicer looking set imo.
The only thing I would add is the magnetic socket trays. Cannot find one anywhere in my area (4 HF’s in my area)
Icon knife and welding table are available in limited stock at several HF stores around me. All the tow trailers and everything else on this list are in stock. Fortunately, I have impulse spending in check, because this could have been a very expensive video for me
Got Bauer impack wrench battery love it
First video I've watched from here but it's was great, quick and very informative! Subscribed
I've been super lucky, the only tool on this list I have is the Badlands jack and even if they had put it at 400$ it'd be worth it.
dangit now I know I'm gonna end up over there again today
We just got a new store locally and I am in there way too much. The Icon bit driver set gets all kinds of use.
You forgot to mention the yellow and purple 16x16 grants microfibers. They sell out as soon as they unload them off the truck.
Snagged my mini ratchet set soon as I saw it, had to order online there's 3 stores near me and none had any.
I really only go to harbor freight for the icon tools and a few of the Doylenipex tools
I got the jack for $69! A little bit better if a price.
Wish the ICON boxes had the USG colors. They look so much better with the black trim. I’m just not a green guy
The band saw you show is for the stand only, the actual band saw (without a battery) is another $129.99
Excited to hear about the new trailer coming out. Tip: Do not buy the current folding trailer. I my opinion it doesn't do anything well. Only good for a DIY project by someone who likes to do a lot of welding.
That knife is legit. Go get one
My top and bottom 42 inch us general boxes took 2 weeks to show up. It's been almost a month and still no sign of my side locker.
