I signed up for Baseball Bunch Night at Riverfront Stadium in 1983. We got to march around the stadium and shake JB's hand at 1st base. I was 9 and 1/2 and Johnny Bench's hand was as big as that stadium to me!
id watch this in my full uniform before my little league games as a kid on saturday mornings. it aired at 7 am my games didnt start until 10 am. i miss the innocence of youth
I was 11 in 81 and I loved growing up in that era. I wouldn't change it for nothing. Great show and Johnny did a great job. Even though I grew up Yankee/Munson fan...
I sucked at Little League baseball. Learned a long time ago that sports just wasn't going to be my profession. I did get lucky and get a game-winning hit one day when I was about 10 or 11, so I'll always remember that moment. I loved watching The Baseball Bunch as a kid when I was playing little league, because it taught me a lot!
where my honeycomb cereal and sweet milk.....shhh I'm watching the baseball bunch ...screaming at my older brother....memories. The Phanatic and The chicken...2 of my favs
Man, I'm nostalgic for these episodes too, loved watching these as a kid and a Cards fan, even though I lived closer to Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, so most of my friends/family were either Reds or Pirates fans.
What a great video !! Went into tears about 10 seconds into the intro song because I remembered when I was 9 years old and life was so easy. Thank you for uploading.
Omg, Johnny Bench smack-talking The Chicken! Hahahahahah! I love this so much. Old school goofy fun. Not ironic or sarcastic or anything,. Like from a totally different world.
This is great I remember watching this show Back in the 80s .My Brother was on a Little League team & I always wanted to play. I never got the chance though. But The Baseball Bunch was a legendary show.
Is there a good reason we never see these old shows on the MLB Network? I mean, I know they're old, but they hold up and are WAY more fun than watching "Field of Dreams" or "Major League II" for the 78th time!!!
Completely agree!!! MLB Network sucks. Classic games from the 70's & 80's DAILY would be a much needed upgrade. And episodes of TWIB, Bunch, Sportscentury & MLB specials
God, I loved this show so much. I watched it religiously. It taught me a respect for fundamentals that stays with me to this day. Watching fundamentally deficient players I often think some variation on "Jesus, didn't you even watch the Baseball Bunch?" Charging the ball, not stepping in the bucket, and those three little words, "I got it!" God, what a great show. The good old days. Oooh, and this one is about Pepper! I'm *constantly* rebuking players today (I know, I know, "kids today!") for not knowing how to put the bat on the ball: "Didn't they every learn to play Pepper?"
Thanks for posting this. Of all of the episodes posted on RUclips, this is the first one that has the actual opening theme song with the lyrics. I've been searching for this theme song for years.
Great memories....I wish this was on when I was in grade school. I was in 10 grade when this aired...OK bench crew, if there are some old Reds game telecasts lying in the closet...Bring them on!!
The. '80s. Childhood. Nostalgia. Is. Real. With. This. One.

I'll be singing that theme song all day now ...
Vest catcher my eyes ever seen, huge hands could hold 6 or 7 baseballs in one hand 😜⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾or⚾
I was 7 when this aired
I grew up in a better time.
Wonder what happened to the kids and their lives after all these years...I was the same age at the time of this show
great show. Wonder where these "kids" are now?
*So Johnny Bench managed a Little League team*
*whilst Tommy Lasorda snoozed in the dugout ....*
*Is that what I'm watching here ...??*
🤷🏻
Those kids used to frighten me.
I still have some of the club material when I joined. Would that be worth anything?
Early days of ESPN … memories.
This episode copied most if not all the script from the pilot episode which is also on RUclips.
2:11-2:28
Baseball does nothing like this now.
Lol the black kid just happens to be named Ozzie. Really?
