Don't forget the handy electric start lawn tractor has one of them too! Had a spare one off an old Ford I used on the tractor. Simple and completely Universal.

Invented to eliminate having huge switches everywhere. Uses a small voltage to make a contact for large voltages. And so that those contacts can be made smaller and remotely. A contactor on an HVAC unit is very similar. Thanks for sharing, Richard!

Excellent video Richard :) funny part my dad had one on International 105C combine gas motor that top cap on you had drill out and combine 4 screws ! Part was called Spinner what did when got engine start hear or feel spinning like Generator or Alternator recharge battery with Generator or Alternator but had serivce ever that box or blow Alternator or Generator recharge or stick on high voltage and blow up battery with key ignition switch off also motor too so wild! Acted like electric magnetic so did want have metal near or get big Zap it would hurt my dad also myself one time ! That's why nickname it Spinner feel like that after Zap ! But change design on International to for Starter only years later part of Spinner and never get Zap key ignition switch be on Postion too! Hopefully that taught something new to also one explained Richard use on Farm tractor to in 6 volt positive ground or 12 Volt Negative ground too plus Combines also International in gas plus some deseil motor in pickups and stake 3 to 9 tons ! Ones did see in Desiel was for Fuel Injection on Glow Plug warmer act like relay too !

Hello Richard, I have the exact same starter solenoids on my Cub Cadets as well as my Ford F150 trucks.. I always keep a spare solenoid on hand just in case. On my Ford truck, I stick with the Motorcraft solenoid instead of the ones from the auto parts stores. The Cubs don’t seem to mind(LOL).

You're right. Many of the off-brand solenoids are junk.

@@morewhattherust Richard, I had a really bad experience with the solenoids other than the Motorcraft solenoids. The Motorcraft solenoids are really not that much more in price and work much better. I also try to always stick to the Motorcraft oil filters other than WIX for my Ford products and AC Delco for GM stuff.

I was over thinking it, it's just a switch.

What do you hook up to the hand trigger to bypass the ignition switch?

It is a remote starter switch I purchased off of Amazon. I use the heavy duty one, as I have had trouble with the smaller units.
