"Alright now wasn't that fun? Let's try something else." Mr Hahn goes from sick, dank beats to a profoundly emotional piano ballad. This song epitomized Linkin Park and their music. As much as my musical tastes have changed and evolved over the years I have ways stuck to my guns on how amazing their first two albums were.
Couldn't agree more
a thousand suns and living things are still the best
Hahn should go solo. I'm going to let myself out.
@@copopopocoporododoro A Thousand Suns is amazing but I find Living Things to be their least interesting other than One More Light. It's mostly middle of the road electronic pop rock songs and the songs where they do experiment don't work for me. I do love Lost in the Echo and Castle of Glass though.
I can relate and I listen to Hybrid Theory and Meteora at least once a day. Linkin Park has become an obsession to me.
This song needs to be 5 minutes longer. I could honestly listen to it all day.
Same
Made it an album just for this
Indeed
I KNOW RIGHT
0:00, there you go.
This song puts me in a different world
Vincent Tomanelli me too
me too ... in a cyber world ...
Takes me back to my childhood. I was around 10 or 11 when i first heard this album. A time without worries and problems. When my parents were still together and the people that have passed away were still alive.
it does
I'll never ever forget this song, especially when it really hits at 00:53. Growing up in the 2000s my mom played this album so often and I loved all the songs but this one stuck out to me so much. I wasn't exposed to much hip hop or electronic growing up in the south and hearing this blew my mind. The drums, the synths, the spooky voices in the beginning. It was all so new and left such a mark. Almost cried coming back to this song and realizing how much of my current music taste (specifically boards of Canada/aphex twin/portishead/idm/triphop/etc) this song set the stage for. Thank you so much to all the talented and forward thinking guys in Linkin Park and RIP Chester
Gundam wing and cartoon networks ad theme song bro
Dude same man my stepdad bought this album for my mom lol
It's 18 years old but it seems like it is the track of the future 😎😱
True

you said it
sadly it is not
hi L
MR HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHN
Fuck yeah, Mister Hahn.
why didnt mister Hahn make any of his own damn music
I know right.
true
Hahn doing the solo freestyle XD
Hahn Solo XD
No one does this anymore man. When was the last time someone made a track like this. I'm having a huge nostalgia trip listening to their old albums.
go and listen to aphex twin, he'll make you blow your load.
UNKLE, Quantic, DJ Shadow. Lol there's only a whole genre of artists doing stuff like this. Just search for trip hop.
Atreyu -- An Interlude.
Issues (The band) did it on Headspace
Nujabes
This is what a real DJ sounds like.
You're right
i dont get it xD
Yeah I agree, the DJs now days just make some pop crap remixes with some rapper singing, I hate music now days.
@@thewhiteskull4003 ok lets end this fight, were not going anywhere at this point
cya.
Agreed well said bro
This song proves that every member of this group was special, unique and skillful
But just like the rest of their music, it's still like 80% Mike.
0:54 i got SOOOO many chills up my spine and i love it
My eyes water up 😢especially if i start thinking about Chester
No way it took me almost 15 years to get the joke.
Me too. Good old days 🫵🤘
"I'd like to introduuuuuce.....MMMMMR HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHN!"
Love this.
It's safe to say I wouldn't be who I am today without linkin park. R.I.P Chester
Me too.
Same here.
Same im a completely different person now I just listen to Linkin Park ALL the time (I mean it) and I love every song😍R. I. P Chester
So you you reflect your life on others success instead of your own, sad excuse for a life
I was glad to see him live with Busta Rhymes. They put on a great show. RIP Chester...
Cure for the itch is scratching. get it now?
Lol you blew my mind
i took way too long to get it x)
😮 well now don't I feel stupid! 😄
+ElttDEvalensia scratching is the sound the DJ makes when he does the forward and backward movement with his hand on the black disc. You see it in every dj movie :P
And ivan, mind blown after 10+ years.
My dad and I used to listen to this on cassette in his s-10. He used to say the song reminded him of a journey.... a journey of us (his boys/kids) growing up and moving on. With us moving on he felt his story was ending and his purpose for life went with that. April 12, 2018 my dad committed suicide. I listen to this song when I miss him, more than I can bear, and I feel close to him.
MurderIsn'tCool thank you
I'm sorry
Ah dude I'm sorry, sounds like you have some good memories :'(
@Dr. Josef Mengele thank you so much
Sorry for your loss. Life is so short… much love
As much as Rob, Mike, Chester, Brad and Dave were amazing at their positions. It was Joe who really set them apart for their iconic sound.
I'm guessing you're one of those people who thought Joe made the beats rather than Mike. Joe is scratching over the beat, but Mike made the beat.
I love this entire album. Every song is great. Music from the late 90's/early 00's era is great.
The Hunting Party isn't bad either, though. (One of my favorite albums, actually, second only to Minutes To Midnight)
We were nothing short of spoiled!!!
Minutes to midnight is their3rd best behind meteora which is behind hybrid Theory
My favorite era of music 😍😎
It really is great!
0:53 damn i love this so much
Yimu ikr, my favorite song in middle school
this is the very thing that makes LP ... LP. This characteristic sound
Me encanta este sound
Perú LP i love You
Same!
All right now. Wasn't that fun? Let's try something else.
Maybe if it didnt sound like generic, commercial pop fans wouldnt have complained.
Meow i originally thought that but when you listen to heavy and goog goodbye theyre actually really deep but the sound is sort of missing
I read this right as he said it.
william webb I like Goodbye, but Heavy is just alright. It's not bad it just kind of exists.
Their last album was supposed to be a tribute album. All their songs in one more light have a message, it's just getting away from the heavier sound. I wouldn't say they sold out, they just took a different direction and approach
Can’t believe Hybrid Theory is going to be turning 21 in a month from now. I remember being in Kindergarten when my father brought it home. Every single track on Hybrid Theory & Meteora is fantastic. Albums that are as good as those 2 are very hard to find these days.
My dad used to play this album on cassette in the car back in the day. That was the day I fell in love with LP, nu metal, and eventually metalcore as well.
Oh yeah This was literally An album that everybody had. It was insanely popular. Because every song is so damn good. Everyone in my school had this cd in their portable CD player.
Meteora isnt nearly as good as hybrid theory
@@davidrochat5802 That’s debatable
23 now
Hadn’t heard this in 10+ years, randomly got the piano chord progression pop in my head earlier today and it just clicked. Then the cello came in and I felt shivers. Good day overall.
Late ass comment but hell ye bro linkin park gets my started and helps finish the dayz
Welcome back ;D !
There should always be at least one Mr. Hahn track like this in every LP album. So good!
Currently it's only this song in Hybrid Theory and Session in Meteora
Keith Playz Session is by Mike!
@@uteweisenbach on linkinpedia Mike himself states that he did the beats for session while Joe did the scratching, then Mike and Brad electronically manipulated the scratching.
"Tinfoil" from Living Things.
Jornada del Muerto from ATS
RIP Chester.
Can't believe today is the day we say goodbye to Linkin Park
If you reach out and remind those around you that you value them, then you can help Chester's spirit live on forever.
We will never say goodbye to Linkin Park. Chester and the bad as a whole will live on forever because the mark they have all put on the world and our hearts is timeless. Their legacy, the emotions they triggered in us all, and the music they created will never die.
We will never forget how they made us feel, and we will carry on. Not just for Chester, but for everyone who struggles and needs someone like him.
Linkin Park will always be the ultimate rock band like no other in the Y2K era.
Chester may have passed but LP will live on!
Linkin Park isn't over. The other band members still want to continue and they're not giving up. Of course it won't be the same without Chester, but it'll still be epic.
Fuck I remember listening to this in 2003. I was 14 at the time. Crazy how time flies.
Lucky we still alive
Equim yes indeed
I listened to it in 2000 so I'm obviously superior to you
Penske Material What month October 2000?
OMG! I just checked release dates and I got this album after "Crawling" came out as a single, and that happened in early 2001 so... I must admit defeat and confess I didn't listen to this album in full until 2001
Hauntingly brilliant. Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up every time I hear it.
Going through my teenage years were extremely tough and this album helped me to be here. It's been ten years since I left that house. Rest in Peace Chester
Classics everywhere ..
EVERY LP SONG IS FAVORITE TO ME

I know right
Same with Mike Shinoda songs i cant chose which one is my favorite
you're damn right
But no One More Light.
Exiting Childhood, Entering Teenage Year. 2000
I was 12, When I was introduced to Linkin Parks - Hybrid Theory the album came out, a few months after I've finished my 6th grade and I started listening to the album when I'm in my Secondary School. It was quite a turbulent times for me School has been the best due to history of Gang relate violence activities in and outside of the school, I wasn't academically well rounded person, Make a lot of good and unsavoury friends. But everytime I put on the headphone and start listening to the album... I can... it weird to say, but I can "feel" the emotions of each song and they have been like a pushing force that kept me going through each day not with my heads down but to boldly face whatever that came my way. And that's 17 years ago now, I would like to thank you, Linkin Park for putting the light out there, when life seems to be at it darkest.
I feel u bro
i feel you. listened to this and meteora in middle school. was anorexic, cutting, and tried kms and running away a bunch of times. had an abusive family, wasn't allowed to go out/be around others my age, and was bullied. their music and Deftones and AFI got me through it all, just barely. music has often been my only friend in life
Well said, my friend!
Lyrics:
Folks, we have a very special guest for you tonight

this song feels 50 years old and 50 years from the future at the same time. Truly a timeless classic.
Fun fact: the ending of this song was supposed to transition to a song called High Voltage, but unfortunately was turned into a B side track. Go listen to it, such an underrated piece. 🔥
That would've been so cool.
Yes it is vibe
And should have been on the album instead of Pushing Me Away
RIP, Chester. May not be singing in this song but it makes a perfect tribute. RIP GOD BLESS
this track is powerful af
Nostalgia!
Josh Sepulveda PlayStation 2, nostalgia.
This is an unbelievably cool song. The entire song is great, but the piano part really is something else. There's a really strong nostalgic element to it, something I felt even when I first heard it as a kid. What a masterpiece.
1:08 that piano sound, So much nostalgia !
Just can't get better than this right here
that Piano 1:08-1:011 again at 1:27

Ah, very good memories with this song. Pretty nice, Mr. Hahn!

Haha no way, I never thought of that. It kind of demystifies the title… don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing…
Took me a while to figure it out but now I see why they called it Cure For The Itch. Scratching and a lot of it on this track
ピアノフレーズが最高!3回しかないけど。
リズムも最高!!
19 years ago, this album was epic and still holds 19 years later.
something about this beat is so haunting, it gaves me the same feeling I had when I listened to it a young kid. RIP Chester, LP was a major part of my childhood.
It's upbeat yet has a sense of sadness
@@thatsnomoon3654 More than that, it also has a sense of foreboding, like coming danger. And also oddly a sense of purpose. I feel incredibly motivated for some reason when I listen to this. Like I can face anything.
@@shriharihudli for some reason it reminds me of Resident Evil 2 The police station. They both came out around the same time (hybrid theory and re2) And 20 years later this song still reminds me of resident evil 2 for reason. I think it’s the piano.

LikeImJohnWall LikeImJohnWall I first listened to Linkin Park when I heard What I've Done in Transformers, although I didn't know really who the song was by at the time. Years later when I was a few months into my freshman year of high school (October 2012) I heard Burn It Down. Thought I recognized Chester Bennington's voice from What I've Done so I decided to look up some of the lyrics of the song (the name of which was still unknown to me then) upon which I was suppressed to find it was by LP. Long story short Burn It Down got me hooked to Linkin Park and my freshman year of high school was absolutely defined by me being addicted to their music. I binge bought and binge listened to all of their albums, spending so much money on those songs haha. I bought at least 10 songs per album, with the exception of ones lacking lyrics like this song. LP's music absolutely molded my freshman year of HS. Now I'm a college freshman. I miss my freshman year of HS dearly. LP's songs ingrained so many memories from that wonderful period of my life that I'll never forget. So I feel old too, even though I'm only 18 😅
LikeImJohnWall you ain't fuckin lying brotha man!
Blink and its over.
Used to play this one so many times. Thanks! Peace be with you Chester.
Man this track !!! I think this is crucial on the development of my musical taste in my teenage years. Because of this song, im been able to enjoy (now as a young man haha) artists such as Aphex Twin or Dj Shadow, for example.
Linkin Park will always have a special place in my heart.
Came here to say this track reminds me slightly of shadow/aphex twin/squarepusher. 👏 we had some great music from that nu-metal/hiphop area. Some truely horrific stuff too mind you 🤣
Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon and Joseph Hahn produced an incredible masterpiece! Masterpiece for all time!
this song takes me back to when i was 12 years old... so dope
2Min 38Sec is just not enough. This was on every sleep playlist I ever had.
The Robot with Human hair lol listened to the robot with human hair pt4 on the way to work this morning, now here I am listening to this and I see this comment, Cure for the Itch is my alarm song too!
The Robot with Human hair and I had your comment thumbs upped from hella long ago already apparently haha
1:00 Sounds like something right from Matrix :')

This was literally my first CD as a kid. My older step brother got it for my birthday and I probably listened to the entire album about 5000 times.
this is one of the most unbelievably ahead of its time productions ever created

“And now a lesson in rhythm management” those words can hit back easily R.I.P Chester
This song is very special to me. Instantly brings me back 22 years ago. June 2001 walking on Salisbury beach wearing headphones. Deep thought about reality/life. It’s wild in hindsight to think I was such a deep thinker even at that age. It’s also the first song that really planted the seed of Drum’N’Bass into my psyche. I get chills and goosebumps along with vivid flashbacks every single time I hear this. Reminds me of my mother too god bless her soul. I recall specifically thinking of her at that time walking on the beach as well. Very very sentimental song for me. 🤍
Sheesh, that's a beautiful connection to the song 🙏 this song is beautiful 2 say the least 🙏
What genre does this even go in? I need more tracks like this. All of Linkin park is great but this one is so unique.
it goes under the genre Mr. Hahn
I suppose the closest genre is Trip Hop. DJ Shadow (Midnight In A Perfect World for example) has a similar vibe to this. Tbh though there isn't much that has the exact feel as Cure For The Itch. It's got this uniqueness that I haven't found anywhere else.
I categorize it as under the genre “beautiful” that’s all I can come up with
Trip Hop. If you haven't checked out some similar artists, try DJ Shadow and DJ Krush, a lot of their stuff's pretty similar to this track especially earlier work from DJ Krush.
@@JRSRLN this guy knows
Listening to this hard today. I loved this song ao much in 7th grade. And now it makes me bummed out.
Rip Chester
This song has been stuck in the back of my mind for years now since my sister was a huge fan of Linkin Park ever since I was born basically. I decided to play hybrid theory for my boyfriend today and this song title stood out to me so I played it. I’d admit, not a huge fan of the first part but after I heard the “Let’s try something else” memories started POURING and I immediately fell in love all over again.
Always loved this from 0:54 onward. Always had the vision of it being used as a backing sound to some movie scene, like some military stealth infiltration mission or someone getting hunted in the woods or something.
Exactly! I've always thought that too.
That part has a very cinematic vibe to it.
Honestly, if I were a film director, I wouldn't think twice about using it for a scene.
I would use it as the soundtrack to a dream sequence.
You know, like when the main character's lying in his bed and his mind starts wandering in memories (or better still, perhaps he's having premonitions about the continuation of the story?).
Ah, I should've gone to film school lol.
It's heavily inspired by Rob Dougan's "Clubbed to Death", which was used in a few movies. It even uses the same drum sample from "It's a New Day" by Skull Snaps.
Finally! I've been looking for this song for 11 years. I first heard it when me and my family moved from Maryland to Florida, and this was one of the first songs my brother played when we rode to get used to our new home.
songs like this really set linkin park apart from other bands..they were not afraid to branch out into other styles.. RIP Chester
This was my lullaby during my high school years... god I miss this style
For a track that was recorded in 2000, this track was ahead of its time. I think.
And this is where it all began......
Listen to this song everytime i get off the school bus in the morning. Gotta start off the day right.
This takes me back to a better time in my life!!
An infinitely better time.

So long since I listened to this and it's got better with age. It's like Massive Attack and DJ Shadow dropped by and asked if they could have a play.
hearing this song for the first time when your just 12 yrs old does things to you
i don't wanna diss anyone else....but this was in a class of it's own......going back to my teen days....nostalgia.....what quality we had then ......and every song from hybrid theory was gold
The part where the synth kicks in reminds me of Clubbed to Death from The Matrix and the piano reminds me of Bottom of Your Soul from Toto for some reason
The first time I heard this track I nearly dropped my Walkman .. the strings in this track are so powerful, I was more than a third of the way through their first album sitting on the bus when this came on and I knew .. I discovered fire, here lies my youth .. in a time so different
Grade school me hearing this for the first time: There are no lyrics in this song
Older cousin playing the song: Yes, it's only full of scratches from the DJ
Me reading the title: Ohh
This album saved my life.
The final beat reminds me of when I lived in Germany and relocating to moscow as a child. I am a US military brat and this particular songs brings back memories of my deceased father who was a Army vet. I miss you dad
