"When you make a drastic decision, a life-changing decision, it doesn't come easy. It's not something that you decide in one day, in one week, in one month or because of one particular event. I think this is something that you decide for a long time and for me that's the way it was. Several years ago I've been thinking of making a change in my career, of taking it to the next level, of becoming independent and it wasn't easy, it wasn't an easy decision but like everything that I do in my life when I have to make important decisions, I write down pros and cons and this time around the pros of going solo were much stronger for me than the cons."

"When you make a drastic decision, a life-changing decision, it is not something that you decide in one day, one week or one month or because of one particular event. It took me some years. Since some years ago, I felt that the moment had arrived to do something different in my career, but I had a lot of commitments not only with Univision but also with the community, with the elections. There is always a piece of news that you say after this, after that, but the moment needs to come at one point, the end needs to come. And the people says _ 'Why now'? Well, why not now? How many more years should I wait while I already have 37 years?"

"Well, I'm going to start a new life and the first thing I'm going to do is rest a little bit and spend some time with my daughters that are now college age. One of them is graduating from college. And then I'm going to explore all the different possibilities. My passion is long form. I love doing long form. I love doing documentaries and specials. I want to be able to work in English and Spanish which are the two languages that I grew up with and also I want to be able to tell the story of the Latino community. That's one of the many things that I want to do. I think for years we have been informing the Latino community about their stories, so we've been telling their stories to them and I think now it's time to tell their stories to different audiences and different platforms. I truly believe that the Latino community in this country is very important, very influential, however what we see in mainstream media is mostly negative coverage and I would love to be able to tell those stories to other audiences so that they can understand that we have deep roots that are contribution to this country is tremendous and that we are Americans too regardless of the color of our skin or the accent in our voice or the texture of our hair."

Estoy de acuerdo. Hace mucho tiempo deje de ver a Univision por considerarla igual a los medios americanos que descaradamente estan confabulados con la izquierda de este pais; sinembargo, debo admitir que siempre tuve mucho respeto por esta presentadora de noticias que siempre se desempeno con mucho profesionalismo reportando hechos y no sus propias opiniones. Que bien por la decision que tomo, le deseo lo mejor en su nueva faceta de independiente.
