Thanks for this helpful video about this new brand of high quality gouache. Definitely worth a try! And then these shallow palettes that can be used for “dried gouache” make using gouache on the go or even anywhere else, a lot more convenient. ❤

Hello my dear friend! I just made myself a new pallet for spring time yeah! Yours are real awesome, I can't wait for some warmer weather too! I hope you are feeling better. God bless you both hugs and warm wishes! Art tool kit!😊 bye for now👋❣😃
Even before you did your demo, I didn’t think cracking in dried gouache would make much difference to it’s usability and quality. But it’s nice to know about M. Graham not cracking at all.
The reason I was concerned with it is because I have a lot of trouble with my Daniel Smith watercolors cracking and actually falling out of my palette. When I lifted up my watercolor palette to show it in the beginning of the video I discovered later that the ultramarine blue had fallen out and gotten lost in the grass. So far even the gouache color that has cracks hasn’t fallen out. 🤗
Art Tool Kit. Wish shipping costs were more doable to Belgium, keep checking every once in a while but it’s either splurge on items and have the one time shipping costs or loose my money on shipping fees. Also bit scared of what customs would add to that. So I keep hoping they do so well that they will have a representative in Europe. With all those clever products they’re definitely on the right track. I so want to try gouache, only have the white. Still deciding whether I’ll get a set of Gouache or make my own by mixing regular good quality watercolor paint with the white gouache. I absolutely love the colors you’ve chosen. They go well together, so much potential!

I have both an empty pocket and folio palette by Art Toolkit and an empty pocket painter palette. Hi Linda. I have Holbein gouache and I’m thinking of creating a dry gouache palette. Has you Holbein stayed in your palette? It’s very expensive and I’d hate to waste it. Thank you for the great information!

Linda, wanted to update you on my dry gouache palette. I had mold develop in mine after a few days after using it. I seemed to have solved the problem by spritzing them with clove bud oil and water in a tiny spray bottle. I bought cool pen sized spray bottles on Amazon so I keep this mixture with my dry gouache palette in my plein air bag. Hope this helps 😊 hugs from Texas where it's already in the 80s! I can't believe all that snow piled up at your house!!! And it takes me forever too to put together colors in a new palette lol😂
Hi Melissa, I have a few videos on my channel where I talk about solving mold issues with Gouache palettes. Especially for people who choose not to use clove bud oil like myself. My vinegar and distilled water recipe is in quite a few of my Plein air and gouache videos. Adding the blending medium to the dry gouache palette is supposed to prevent mold but this is the first time I’ve tested it out instead of using my regular anti-mold recipe. I will update on whether it’s successful or not in an upcoming video. There are too many videos where I talk about preventing more to post the links here but if you go to my channel you should be able to find them easily enough.
What brand are you using? I had some serious issues when I first started with gouache and went with Arteza. No matter what I did, I couldn't keep them in a palette, wet or dry. Finally gave up and they are sitting in their tubes. I only use the metallic and iridescent colors from time to time now because they really are nice. But it's definitely only out of the tube. I am trying M. Graham now and doing my best to keep them misted with clove oil and use them frequently.
I use M Graham, Holbein and Senex. I have a few videos where I show how I keep my gouache palettes mold free using a very diluted mixture of white distilled vinegar and distilled water. The clove oil did not work for me But with the other mixture I use I’ve never had a single issue with mold.
Clove Bud Oil...That is really great info regarding clove bud oil use! I use it for my oil paints stored in my palette box.. Never thought about its usefulness for a Gouache palette to help prevent mold... 👍👍👍
I bought some blending medium for acrylic. Would that work for adding to the Gouache to help with the cracking? I'm so new I haven't even used my gouache or acrylics yet and still learning to watercolor leaves and petals. At 76 I'm so far behind this learning game....sigh. Also did you leave your gouache container open after you filled it to dry? I'm assuming you did but you know what that 'assume' means lol. Thank you
Don’t worry about being behind, just have fun on the journey! I’m pretty sure that watercolor blending medium and acrylic blending medium are different products so I wouldn’t use it without researching it. Yes, I did leave my palette open until it dried. Have fun!

I had read about M Graham gouache fermenting in the tubes but I had never had it happen. The other day when I was loading the pallet I noticed a tube that had blown way up like a balloon. It was mostly filled with air and just a little bit of paint but it was all blown up. When I squeezed out the paint it was kind of chunky like cottage cheese and had curdled. It does still seem to work though.
