Always wanted one. Bought an MC505 instead. I know it only based on it, but; price was right! (& Lotsa drums!) This is a very Nice dive into it. That symphonique patch is lovely. I'll keep mah eyes open for one...
I used to have the JV2080 and I loved it but I sold it when I tried the Roland Cloud version of the 1080. What I used it for, the airy choir pads and digital piano's, the sound was so close that it was just more convenient for me to use the software. Although I do think the hardware has a slight edge in sound but it wasn't enough when I weighed the pro's and cons.
Only problem with the cloud is that once Roland stops supporting it, away goes your investment. With hardware you keep what you purchase and the value usually goes up with time.
Thank you for sharing about this wonderful module. I have had my JV-1080 for about 2 years and every time I switch it on, I get a new idea for a song. I noticed you have a Behringer X Touch. Do you like it for recording? I just got an X Touch in January 2022 and I love it. I use it to control my XR18 and mix in Presonus Studio One 5.4.
Do you know if there’s a under desk rack mount that can fit the 1080? I had just got a brand New one off eBay & then I had brought 3 Expansion Boards the Session, Keyboards of the 60s & 70s & the House Collection
I used to have one in 1998. I like it a lot because you could synchronize the LFO and effects to midi time clock. First Roland that allows you to do that, you change the speed of the sequencer and everything changes or as simple as, no need to match the temp, it would do it itself. The downside was that sounds by themselves sounded very good because they had two effects per sound. But when you used the Performance adding up to 16 sounds, they all lost the original effects and now you have two master effects for all 16... So, if you had a nice piano with a flanger, you lose that flanger unless you want the 16 sounds to share the same flanger, including the drums. But for everything else it was a very good machine. Today is totally useless. Any vst sounds as good and you have the advantage of not needing cables and patching things, you do everything in software. I have a bunch of synths that are collecting dust, I do everything VST.
Thank you for sharing this video. I very much enjoyed this as well as learning new things. Thanks!
May Yahweh bless you and this channel thank you so much!!!!
Comparing it to my cloud version right now. Yours is better, but cloud one is pretty damn good.

Yes but the cloud doesn’t do the expansions , I just picked a 1080 up mint £200 and when I opened it - 4 expansion cards

Set the Flying Waltz patch to 4/4, and you'll get the lifeline music of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
Can you map a hardware controller to the parameters in Patch Base?
I have the keyboard version..great synth
What is the keyboard version called? I was not aware there is one!

@@bradleylinemihler or XP50/60
I didn't know about this editor, may I ask if it's compatible with the XP80?
I have not seen a plugin for the XP80. You can download the software for free an check yourself

Anything that is 19“ should work.
@@deantiquisetnovis ok thanks
How do I assign sounds to their own midi channel? When I change a sound from midi channel 1 to 2, it changes all sounds to midi channel 2.
You need to put the sounds into a Performance. Then you can set the Midi channel for each sound separately
@@deantiquisetnovis If I get it right, I owe you a beer. lol

I agree. The audience will not hear the difference between hardware and VST synths.
