My father was coming home from his job and he was really worn out. He called my stepdad and talked to him for a while then hung up. Just a few minutes later he fell asleep at the wheel. He swerved onto the left lane and hit a huge truck head on. His car was crushed, and the other people in the other car was okay. My father had broke his neck and had horrible head injuries making him unaware of his surroundings. He also broke his leg, his pelvis, and his arm. He had to be air lifted to the hospital. That happened 2 years ago and he died last year to to kidney failure and a seizure. They were surprised on how he lived through the whole crash. Love you dad 💖

The diver you mentioned worked with a friend of mine. The biggest reason, apart from sheer grit, for his survival was the intense cold and pressure which slowed his bodies system right down. Apparently afterwards he was extremely calm all the way up to blacking out.

My cousin, who has been a professional fire fighter in central Wisconsin for almost his entire life has had several interesting events, but 2 are especially heart pounding. He and a fellow fire fighter once ended up in a burning warehouse full of magnesium, which is highly vollitile. He said it was like being trapped in a fireworks display. When his fellows pulled the 2 out, they expected to find 2 dead fire fighters, but were amazed and relieved when the 2 were fine. Then some years later, my cousin, who is also very physically active including running marathons. He had run 1 in his hometown of Eau Claire, then another in San Antonio Texas. I never expected him to have run a third in a really short amount of time, but he did. It is Devine Providence that he did so well in that 3rd marathon. Had he come in just shortly later, or left the recovery station just barely sooner, it would have been a disaster for our family. After he was done in the recovery station, he was heading back to watch people he knew finishing the run. The minute he turned to do so, the bombs went off. He was in the Boston Marathon the day of the infamous bombings!

My father used to work in the coal mines, a lot happened- Like 2 men were crushed by a rock and stuck there for 6 hour's because Coal miner's aren't allowed to do anything till paramedics arrive (The men died) But that was the shift my dad was gonna do but the guy who was on roof bolter took a day off so they put him on that. My dad also had a friend who was about to go into the mine but forgot a tool and that's when an explosion/gas leak happened, that's the reason that guy lived. (He had some mental issues after that though.) If anyone's from West Virginia, my dad worked for Alpha and was usually on roofbolter-his name was Matthew.

This isn’t like the other ones where they were in crazy situations, but when I was 6 or 7 I was in the shallow end of the beach even though I could swim because I was scared. But in the floor there was a ditch and it sucked me in, and being tiny and not strong I couldn’t get out and I was stuck under water. But my mom, dad, my sister, and my young brother were all in the beach relaxing, my big brother was deeper in the ocean and my grandpa was playing in the sand with my siblings. Little did I know my grandma was a little behind me and she luckily turned around just in time before it was to late and she lifted up out of the water. When I was under water I was like “I’m dead” and I just felt a wave of relief when my grandma lifted me up and I have to say air never tasted so sweet.

    My survival story:
When I was 6 my cousin wanted to teach me how to ride a bike and I was at his house so I had to use his bike and I could barely reach the petals. My cousin helped me up the bike and he pushed the bike forward and the place I was biking was on a hill and at the bottom there was really busy traffic, so when he pushed me I couldn’t stop and I thought I was gonna get hit and die. At the last second my cousin grabbed the bike and I got off without a scratch. When we got back inside my cousin gave me two packs of gum and told me not to tell my parents, so I took the gum and told my parents. He got in big trouble.

He's still alive and well - in a wheelchair but just an overall nice guy. You can find out more in his book "We Are All Paralyzed".

Once, I got in a seriously dangerous position in a plane crash. It was on fire and flying down in the water. Everybody was flying in the air and the airbags were broken. By then, half of the plane broke off. I jumped with the crew's parachute and survived. I stayed oversea for 27-ish days until rescued. I survived on the wing of the plane. I also fished by hand. I know some relative of my step mother, was once hit with a stroke unexpectedly 2 hours away from a hospital, with no car. He walked out a doctors clinic where they declared him as fine, but it got worse to he walked for 2 HOURS WITH A STROKE until he reached hospital and was immediately admitted to a room wand was treated.
Apparently the best thing to do when you have a stroke is to just keep yourself up and not lie down and let your body die. Apparently as long as you are up and walking you have a higher chance of survival.
(Btw I am not sure whether it was a heart attack or stroke)

I thought it came from upstairs so I went to check up there. then my mom came in and noticed that there was a tree right in front of the house. but when I say right in front I mean the trunk was touching the side of the house. but if that wasn't a close enough call, this made it so that the trunk of the giant tree was only a foot away from where I was siting! but wait, there's more, when we went outside to see what it did, we noticed that it was at an angle towards the house! so to sum it all up, that tree was curved and if it wasn't curved, I would probably be dead by now. that's scary.

Yeah, I do have a survival story, my dad was driving on the freeway and going 80 mph (I'll explain why soon) and then he had a seizure, the car hit a light pole with enough force to force it out of the ground and make it fall over, my dad passed out which the medics believed was from the airbag and I just walked out if the car, just a bit dizzy. I hurried to get some help, soon after digging through the trash on the floor (the trashbag spilled) and finding it then calling my mom who is a nurse who came shortly after the paramedics. My dad was released that night after getting a shot of kepra, my stepfather picked up his pills and after my mom and I got him some clothes he was driven back to his apartment with me and my mom. That was something I knew I would never forget.
Edit : I believe my dad was going 80 because of his seizure, he has grandmals which cause him to shake, so I believe his shaking foot caused the car to speed up by hitting the gas pedal over and over

The scuba diver that just went back to work is a crazy story and happened here in Scotland where I live. Most people should have sued them for a fortune and won and said they could not return to work due to PTSD. Remember this happened in Scotland and it was an oil company so he would 100% have won as they did not want the negative publicity and it is a multi-billion dollar company. Yet he accepted it as part of the job and went back to work.

  • @929yiyi4
    @929yiyi4 3 года назад +4

I know I already commented about a near death experience I heard of, but there is one that I witnessed myself.
When I was on my way to mount Kosciusko in Australia to see snow for the first time, my family drove past a car that had slipped and managed to go down a hill, rolling front to back 3 times before stopping.
We first thought that it might have been an old car crash where the car had not been picked up yet, but my step mum noticed there was smoke coming out meaning the car had just crashed. There was a woman in there and the car was getting more smoky by the minute meaning, it was going to catch fire.
My dad stopped the car, and then my step mother got out and checked for a person where she found a woman in the drivers seat in complete shock, drifting in and out of consciousness.
My step mother pulled the woman out and took her to just sit on the passenger seat of our car and gave her water, making sure there were no kids in the crashed car, me and my step sister were allowed out.
The woman was in desperate need of her phone to tell her husband what happened, so my step sister and I, being the only ones able to fit, and fully covered from head to toe in puffy clothing to protect us from the snow and cold when we got to mount Kosciusko, went in to look for the phone.
After intense searching in the upside down car for about 10 minutes, we found the phone and got out to give the woman her phone.
Apparently that edge she glided off of was commonly known for people to glide off, and only 4 out of the 25 people (not completely accurate numbers) that a nearby house owner had ever seen crash after gliding off, had survived the ordeal.
Though it’s not surprising that many died as the hill she glided off of had a sharp turn up a huge hill and the side that the woman had crashed on, there was a steep hill just a few metres away from the car.

I have lost count of how many close calls I have had over the years; one in particular. I was driving down the road near my house when I discovered a beautiful rose bush in someone's yard. I went through the gate where I stumbled upon a sleeping mastiff. It lifted its head and began to growl and slowly made its way toward me. With my back to the gate, I searched desperately for the latch. Then, without warning, the dog leaped me, but thanks to my quick thinking, I swiftly shoved the dog's face, causing it to lose its balance. Stunned at what had happened, all the dog could do is bark at me until I was outside the gate again.

My head hit the windshield and then fell to the side and grinded my knees on the asphalt for about 5 feet from the boost. Lucky my bones are in working order with no cracks.

There is something mixed up here regarding the unfortunate saturation diver, Chris, who was left on the seafloor unaided. The documentary about the incident claimed he was in subfreezing temperatures for 37 hours. That's quite a discrepancy between the 35 minutes claimed here. Although it's not unheard of for a drowning victim to survive after being unconscious for a number of hours. If I recall correctly, the discovery of the effectiveness of lowering body temperature has even been used during highly technical surgeries.

My harrowing story took place in the late 70's, I was a 15 year old girl living on Guam, where my family is from. One day 2 of my female cousins and 2 boys that were my cousins neighbors decided to skip school. We lived on Nimitz Hill above the Masu river. It was a shallow river but below my cousins house was more of a pool. We all stripped down to our underwear and spent the whole day swimming. Around 3pm when we were all tired and should have already been home, I heard crackling. Ishouted to the others to hurry up and grab our clothes and stuff and run up the hill. After swimming all day we were so tired and the hill was really steep. It took us a few minutes to reach the top and when we looked back the whole hill side was on fire and the pool where we were swimming was completely covered in flames. I got dressed and ran home. My mom was already home and she asked me why I was covered in soot, I lied and said I got off the bus early to watch the fire at my cousins house. I never went to that pool again.

In 2008 I became obsessed with the show Survivorman. 2009 I turned 19 & recieved $40,000 from the insurance company from a car accident i was in, in 2005. I spent $4000 on firearms, ammo, camping supplies, survival gear, any plenty of books. From 2009-2011 I lived in The Flint Hills in Kansas. I practiced and taught bushcraft, survival & primitive skills. Ive never had a license so I rode my bike 7 miles to the lake, with my entire pack attached to my bike and my dog running beside me. I lived in Westmoreland, KS and the lake was 7 miles north up Highway 99. Buddy (year old Cocker Spaniel) and I were just coming to the lake. I had survival classes planned for the weekend. As I was slowing down to take the gravel road down to the lake Buddy got scared by a rustle in a bush. His leash was tied to my handlebars. He yanked the handlebars to the left and I remember putting my hands down to catch myself. I woke up in extreme amounts of pain in my head, neck, back, right knee and right shoulder. Buddy was licking my face, I didn't have a cell phone at the time. (If you out reach your arm and put your fingers horizontal to the sun every finger is 15 minutes, repeat til you hit the horizon.) We had a 45 minutes until sundown, it was around 830pm. I assessed my situation and injuries. I looked up the hill and it was about 60ft up to the road at a 50° incline, 40ft to my bike that was wedged in a tree. I fashioned a sapling as a walking stick then hiked up the hill to grab my bike. Buddy had slipped his collar, I got my pack and went down to the lake. I set up my tent and pulled out the First Aid Kit. I had cuts all over my face & arms, I had a broken nose, my right shoulder hurt so badly I could hardly move it. My head was throbbing and I knew I had a concussion, I was alone and didn't want to risk falling asleep. So I set up some bank lines to catch some fish, went over to a blackberry bush and gathered a bunch of berries. Buddy was off hunting rabbits, I heard a squeal and Buddy comes out the bush with a dead rabbit in his mouth. He sets it down next to me and is off back in the bush hunting. I skinned it, gutted it and started a fire. I put the gut pile down by the waters edge (camp was about 20ft from the waters edge). As im cutting a stick to put the rabbit on (my cooking pot was too small) Buddy comes out the bush crying with something black in his mouth. It was a 5ft Rat Snake, he was bitten (non venomous). I wrapped his leg with a gauze roll from the first aid kit then started skinning the snake. Put the snake guts with the rabbit guts down on the waters edge. Cut another stick to wrap the snake around, put both on the fire. I reeled in the bank lines I had set and added some guts to the trebble hooks and threw them back out. I had a 3 pole permit, fur harvesting license and my landlord was a county deputy sheriff. My fishing pole had broke on the crash down the hill. I used the fishing line I had and tarred bank line for the fishing sets. I normally would fish every day for at least 4 hours, id catch a fish or two for my supper every night. It was around 2330 (1130pm) when I heard a car on the highway, it passed and then turned around. A spot light was shining down the hillside where I had fallen. I heard a door open and my name called. It was my landlord, he was on night shift just checking on me. I tried to yell back but my head started pounding even more. Buddy barked a few times and he drove his patrol car down to me. He confirmed I had a concussion and a few cuts needed stitches. He packed up my camp, and started helping me bring in the lines. The last line had a 8lb Catfish on it, I gutted it on the spot and threw the guts into the lake. I told him I didn't wanna let the snake & rabbit go to waste, he said he'd eat the rabbit if I ate the snake. Snake is very stringy and chewy, I gave Buddy the snake meat and we shared the rabbit & berries I had collected. Wrapped the catfish in some tinfoil I had in my bag, and he strapped my bike down to his roof. I planned on staying awake all night and wait for someone to give me a lift in the morning. We got back to town and stopped at the EMS station we had in our small town (800 people). They stitched me up & even looked at Buddy's bite, he was fine. They told me I could sleep there or at home but I'd need someone to monitor me. my landlord/deputy called his daughter who was a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and a friend of mine. She came n stayed with Buddy & me. I slept from 0300-0630, my bike had bent rims and the handlebars were snapped. I had breakfast at the town diner every morning at 0700. Biscuits & Gravy with Coffee and a roll. I wasnt able to walk without falling over, so my friend drove me to the diner. Id normally sit and bullshit with all the old folks from 0700-1100 every morning. They were all very concerned about me, some of the old timers said they'd take me fishin anytime I wanted to go. They all knew I had very little money and fished for my food everyday. One guy even offered to give me some spare rods/reels, which i turned down. I prefer the old ways of fishin such Cane Poles, Bank Lines, Trot Lines, Peg Snare Cut Poles, Hand Lines, Tenkara, Spear Fishin, and Trap Fishin. It makes the catch so much better and more satisfying.

I was only my way to village with my family for the first time of my life
It takes 2 days to reach there from where I'm living
It was raining that day the roads were not so good it was all muddy
Then we arrived at the place called chandadha there were a lot of red mud which are really slippery when they are exposed to water
We were nearly at the top of the hill and well at that time in Nepal we really had bad roads
The jeep started to drift because it was so slippery we were near the edge about 6 times and nearly fell from those high high cliffs
It was really really bad for my heart

The best survival story was when I was at the beach in Santiago chele and accidentally swam out a little too far getting caught by a current then my foot caught onto a rock and my cousin helped my back onto shore thankfully.

My uncle was a marine. He was able to escape from a sinking submarine.
Sorry I don't know many of the details, he has a severe panic attack when asked about it
