One of the best films I've ever seen. Being a lover of old films, I can't believe I'm seeing this only now. Mr. Ladd and his son are so sweet together and Ms. De Havilland is wonderful. They support each other remarkably well. Made me cry. It was just so good!!!❤

Slowly watching Alan Ladd's entire filmography; finally watched this Alan Ladd western for the first time on 09/03/2024 that was on my A. Ladd watch list. Proud Rebel is as good as Shane, and definitely on my re-watch list as well as a potential ClassicFlix Blu-ray purchase when it is released in early-2025.
I love a good Alan Ladd western, very involving, it was wonderful. I'd like to imagine Alan and Olivia married and lived happily ever after with the little boy and dog on the farm... :-) ❤

Well, this was a good film. I don't recall seeing Dean Jagger play a villian in film before. Great photography. The scene where Ladd is leaving the farm to go get Lance reminded me very much of the end scene from Shane.

One can't question the talent of Michael Curtiz as a director(Casablanca 1942)....You can have a full trust in him. Furthermore Alan Ladd and Olivia de Haviland starring....This film was made in 1958...Alan Ladd's image is substantially similar to that of Shane ...but anyway I offer my sincere condolence to his rather short filmography...Alas !.He died at his golden years of age...in his mid 50s...w/his golden blonde hair glistening...
I had never seen this film . Don't know how I missed it. I enjoyed it very much .great acting especially from Olivia de Havilland I never rated Alan ladd very much but in this he acted very well in fact better than Shane.. maybe I underrated him somewhat . His son David ladd did a very convincing and professional job portraying David. All in all a great film . Thank you for posting . I will be watching this again me thinks . If you ever get the chance please post the blue dahlia 1946 ..
Eu acho que é a terceira vez que assisto a este filme, se não ganhou o Oscar deveria se não recebeu a Lei Rouanet dos states deveria, (fazem umas porcariadas por aqui e levam milhões).
