A personal video essay? Right up my alley!
I always prefer video's that say something about the show and the person behind it. How it impacted them, what you took from it. Hanasaku Iroha is definitely one of my favourite series, I always admired how optimistic Ohana was despite her surroundings. It's great to see how much you loved the show, because I personally didn't think about it in that way.

It's always good to revisit this anime. I remember it being one of the first times I saw a media (movie/series/etc) so intimate that it talked about things that I didn't have the words to describe yet. It should definitely get more recognition, I always try to recommend it to my friends.

Hanasaku Iroha was a really personal anime for me because I was put in the same situation when I was younger (working in a family business in a small town.) I really hated it at the time, but looking back it, I understand why I was put in that situation. And it's kinda "refreshing" watching an anime that reminded me of my childhood. Thanks for making this video, I enjoyed it a lot :)

Wow 😯 the way you narrates it felt like you have read my mind; My thoughts and emotions I've experienced with Hanasaku Iroha.
I was surprised to know that I'm not the only one who experienced this way. And now it's a New Year again, I'm back to rewatching some episodes.
The first time I watched this series, the 1st episode had made my sobbing in tears . It felt like I was free from my chains. The surge of emotions had save me I guess from totally quiting on myself as to my dreams too. (As Ohana's life suddenly began to change yet she was able to pursue joy with people around her)
It was a long journey to where I am now.
You mentioned about " the lack of purpose"
It struck me.. Over the years. I'm totally grateful for this anime for shedding some light to me.
I was stubborn (I'm still am I guess but I think I've learned a lot from my struggles in life.)
9 years ago I felt very useless...
Though there were still regrets from the past I want to cherish every moment of it.
It's quite tragic since my personal reasons may not be the same as yours. But it also had to do with my purpose (I was in university at that time struggling with my personal and family issues )
Anyways, I'm glad I have found this.
I hope you still have the same thoughts about Hanasaku Iroha though.
    Probably you're in university too.
    You can do it!

Having just finished my 3rd rewatch of Hanasaku Iroha and after watching over 500 anime I can say with certainty Hanasaku Iroha still remains the SOL that not only touched my heart and made me realize 4-5 years ago a LOT, not having a dream/life goal and exactly like you, at that time feeling lost with my music in my room..
In the end, we all were once kids who didn't know what to do or what life has in store for us but we grow up one step at a time and I am glad I can say Hanasaku Iroha is the anime that not only taught me so much about life but inspired me on a huge level to find my very own way in life to work in Hotels~

Hanasaku Iroha is such a gem, very near the top (if not my favourite) Anime of all time, including a lot of reasons you brought up yourself in this video. It just hit me and reached me on a deeper level somehow, and as I was watching it week to week with each new episode, I fell more and more in love with the series. I wish it were well more known and more popular, but if by any chance a randomer stumbles across this video - as I have - that you will at least give this wonderful series a try

I haven't checked this anime out yet I will put it on my watch list. I noticed there was one point in the video where you said "If you give it a chance you'll see what I'm" then it cut off from there. Overall good review.

ChrisKritik Thanks! I was actually trying to say "youll see what I MEAN" but the music and my voice tapering off makes it sound like it got cut off

Its incredible how just watching a anime or reading a manga can change someone's life. AOT changed my perspective of the world, it made me understand what freedom really is. I was very ignorant when i was young and followed people whom i looked up to because they were cool and famous in my class but it always gave me trouble. From watching and reading AOT, i learnt that i should do what i want to do. Not do what people say what i should do, its really stupid that i haven't learnt this on my own a bit earlier in life but my brian lacked knowledge from birth to the school i was in.
Oh also, i discovered this in 6th grade so... Yeah... Im stupid.

Yeah, I'm actually watching it now. Your r/anime listing is the first thing I've ever seen, so now I'm poking around the place. ;-)
SQ remains an engaging and meaningful ride throughout, even if you can't quite invest in "main girl" like you can with Ohana.
