I have lived 43 years within a 300 yard of a rail line. Never ever do I NOT watch these trains go by as I am almost mesmerized. Same thing when I found you site. Thank you!
excellent capture. My dad worked for DT&I. So I love trains also. Every Christmas tree needs a train under it. Matter of fact....I used to go Santa in the caboose. Springfield, Ohio Steve🎅
Back in the day (Won’t reveal the day because it might tell my age😳!) I grew up in the era of the Santa Fe train with its engineers and conductors and the big red caboose! We called it “the giant rattlesnake”. The track rails were in short joints and when each car would cross over the track joints it would make this loud clack clacking noise and us kids would run out of the house to watch the giant rattlesnake train with that great big red caboose tail slither by. What were they back then, 4 to 6 engines, 40 cars and the big big red caboose? Yeah! That was really great! In our little central Texas town (population of 103) was a switch track and, if we were lucky, there would be 3 and really lucky 4 trains to pass. Wow, how awesome was that🤠?! What is it now, 1-2 engines pulling a string of cars (#?) 1-1.5 miles long and Ø cabooses! No more clickity clacking to stir up the childrens’ interest due to long railroad track sections. But its’ home and the trains keep on rolling and that is something this old man will always love!
WWOT! The last couple of videos I've seen the weather there is sunny with less humidity and light breeze. That's perfect for railfanning on You Tubaaaaa!
Yep, SP all over again. More shippers will petition the STB to get the government to do something. BNSF down the pipe, love it. Perfect pair of bookend power never gets old. Nice call on the train meet, you're good. The little toot salute was a bonus. We need to get a network going to keep track of the WWOT car. You da man, good video.
since it’s not cold out and you don’t have to worry about freezing pipes, why are the two parked tank trains idling their engines if they’re not going anywhere, why not shut them off? thanks
Enjoyed this video. Good video management, good color. Loved the green country side and clean track beds, sound of the trains. Liked the parked tank car trains freight train tracking the middle track. Some video views great photos. Like you present information on the trains. Thank you.
Really liked that locomotive machine in the end of the train with blue and yellowish / orange color would love to see that in action, thanks 👍 oh a 3 locomotive train cool
Interesting that CSX is short of locomotive engineers to run their trains through Western NY. Don't know if a slow down in the economy is the reason or if people aren't interested in railroad jobs. Like it when a fast moving train splits between two other trains. WWoT should fire up his drone to check out distant oncoming trains he can't see,
It might have something to do with the workers threatened to strike across the country particularly BNSF because they were denying time off, vacation time, family time, sleep time etc basically anything to do with time off, and the workers were complaining. So the Union came close to a shutdown last year.
Lets not forget that this is also the last couple weeks of summer vacation for school children in NYS. CSX employees may just be trying to get their summer vacations in before the kiddos go back to school. I bet this will resolve itself shortly after Labor Day.
Don’t ya wish we had these cameras back in the 1950’s and 60’s and 70’s when they had really amazing trains running. .... I find railfanning boring these days. It’s always the same 2 wide cabs on 90% of trains. I miss the days of 5 to 9 GP’s and SD’s roaring by with smoke and sound ... the roar! You don’t get that or the smoke anymore. You night as well be deaf .... it just sucks ! But I admire your effort ... maybe in 50 years when things REALLY suck even more people will want to look back to 2022 and say ... wow! Remember those good years ...
0:58 We are at the Harrington Road crossing in Sheridan, New York on 27 August 2022/ There are two CSX tank trains parked on the sidings at this location. The engines are running because we can see smoke coming from the exhaust of one of the engines. The trains are parked because there is congestion at the CSX yards in Buffalo, New York and CSX is short of crews. At 0:59 CSX train #I010 comes by on track #2. At 2:17 CSX train #I010 passes Harrington Road. 3:08 We are at the Franklin Avenue crossing of the Norfolk Southern tracks through the residential area of Dunkirk, New York on 26 August 2022. We are looking at Norfolk Southern train #28B, the former train #206 as it is coming toward us. At 3:10 Norfolk Southern train #28B, formerly #206, crosses the former Dunkirk, Allegheny Valley & Pittsburgh Railroad tracks. These tracks are currently the CSX's industrial spur to customers in Dunkirk and Fredonia, New York. At 3:20 Norfolk Southern train #28B, formally #206, hits Lamphere Street. At 3:32 the train hits King Street. At 3:38 the train hits Lincoln Street. At 3:47 Norfolk Southern train #28B hits Franklin Avenue. At 4:54 Norfolk Southern train #28B passes Franklin Avenue. At 5:03 the train passes Lord Street. At 5:08 the train passes Hoyt Street. 5:38 We are at the CSX Milepost 41 curve on 26 August 2022. We are looking east at CSX train #I009 which is coming off the west end of the elevated tracks through Dunkirk, New York. At 5:56 the engine on CSX train #I009 passes us. At 6:38 the end of train DPU appears and streaks past us. You keep the camcorder rolling because you think that another train is coming. At 8:39 we hear a horn blowing. The train is warning of its approach to the Temple Road crossing about a mile east of where we are. 10:00 we see that a headlight is lighting up the tracks just before the tracks start of the curve where we are standing. At 10:02 CSX train #I166 peeks out from the trees on the left side of track #2. At 10:15 the engineer of CSX train #I166 gives you a horn salute as he passes. It is unusual to see two Canadian Pacific and one Canadian National engine on the point of CSX train #I166. Usually CSX train #I166 is powered by one Canadian Pacific with a mid-train DPU or and end of train DPU. At 10:43 CSX train #I166 passes us on its way to Seneca Yard in Buffalo, New York. CSX train #I166 is the daily Canadian Pacific run through intermodal train from the Canadian Pacific's Schiller Park Intermodal Yard in Schiller Park, Illinois to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. When CSX train #I166 arrives at the Seneca Yard, the CSX crew gets off the train and a Canadian Pacific crew takes over the train. When the Canadian Pacific crew, the train number changes to Canadian Pacific train #142. The train leaves Seneca Yard and travels to Niagara Falls, New York. At Niagara Falls, New York, the train crosses the Niagara River into Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada and then onto Montreal, Quebec, Canada. 12:02 We are at the south side of the CSX tracks at Van Drunen Road in Pomfret, New York on 19 August 2022. We are looking west at the CSX train #M634 which is approaching Van Buren Road. CSX train #M634 has split the Milepost 44.8 signals. At 12:09 CSX train #M634 warns of its approach to Van Buren Road. At 12:26 CSX train #M634 hits Van Buren Road. At 13:23 a mid-train DPU hits Van Buren Road. At 15:28 CSX train #M634 passes Van uren Road. 16:13 We are at the Norfolk Southern tracks at Berry Road in Pomfret, New Youk on 27 August 2022. We are looking west as Norfolk Southern train #28B, former train #206, is crossing Lake Road in Pomfret, New York. At 16:27 the Norfolk Southern gates at Berry Road starts lower. At 16:37 Norfolk Southern train #28B starts to warn of its approach to Berry Road. At 16:46 Norfolk Southern train #28B hits Berry Road. This train is powered by a BNSF engine and a Norfolk Southern engine. At 17:27 Norfolk Southern train #28B passes Berry Road. 18:17 You start to walk north on Berry Road to the CSX tracks. At 18:23 you start to zoom in on the Norfolk Southern signal near the Norfolk Southern's Lake Road crossing. At 18:35 we continued to walk to the CSX tracks to see if any CSX trains were coming. At 19:19 we look west on the CSX tracks and see no trains coming from that direction. At 19:25 we look east and see there are no CSX trains coming from the east. 19:30 We are at the Berry Road crossing in Pomfret, New York on 26 August 2022. We are looking east at CSX train #M363. This train has just passed the Milepost 44.8 signals. At 19:51 we hear the first blast of the horn which tells us the train is approaching Berry Road. At 20:11 CSX train #M363 hits Berry Road. At 21:41 a former Amtrak express boxcar appears in the train. At 23:09 CSX train #m363 passes Berry Road. You zoom in on the end of the train as we watch the train continue west. 24:07 Your Outro begins and ends at 28:16. Thank you for documenting these trains in the Dunkirk, New York area toward the end of August. You had me wondering where we were in the Dunkirk, New York area on two occasions. When you were at the Van Buren Road crossing in Pomfret, New York, I originally thought that you were at the Berry Road crossing. I kept looking at the CSX train approaching us and something told me we were not at Berry Road. I looked at Google Maps and finally realized that we were at Van Buren Road. This is the first time that I remember you being at Van Buren Road. I also had to look at Google Maps to figure out where you were when you captured Norfolk Southern train #28B, formerly Norfolk Southern train #206, as it moved through the residential neighborhood of Dunkirk, New York. The CN is also known as a noodle. So if you have two CN locomotives would that be a cup of noodles? 😅😅 Steven Sipes
Excellent 👍👍👍

a lot of it is people being paid to sit on their ass for so long and getting paid too!!! that and having to join the union!!
Trash trains are M701 and M702 Running to and from Selkirk to Oak Point Yard in the Bronx. 701 south 702 north.
@14:59: one HELL of a picture on that train car!! @20:16 all four of those engines came from the 5200 group of engines.
