@@tonyclack5901 Yes a DPU stands for distributed power unit. It basically is any locomotive on a train that is not part of the front group of engines and is helping power the train. It could be placed anywhere else in the middle halfway down a third of the way down or at the end basically anywhere is on the train that they decide.
That deer jumped exactly at the right moment to avoid getting her tail clipped by a railroad train. They're not the smartest creatures on the planet, but they are good at jumping.
Don't let anybody tell you different, love the long distance shots and the overhead shots. Be careful you don't forget to look out for traffic when going from one railing to the other! God knows, the drivers aren't paying you any mind!😉
Awesome stack train and overhead shot. As Yosemite Sam would say: "Birds is so stoopid!" Sure was a lot of power just to smash one bird. Another good train meet, you reeled that one in nicely. As my Dad would say re.the hay bales: " I'd hate to run into the rabbit that pooped those out". Great video, well done sir.
Great videos. I grew up in Chautauqua County. I remember riding my bicycle down to the tracks in Lakewood NY and watching then Conrail trains run. Back then it had 2 tracks and would run through a couple times a day. I don’t think those tracks get used much anymore.
Awesome overhead shots of that priority intermodal train. Cool lashup on that manifest almost elephant style, sorry about the poor bird. Another cool lashup with a BNSF unit and SD70 rebuild on NS 309. Good job WWOT, thanks. DPU alright buddy.👍🏼🚂😎
Your description of the doppler effect is not exactly correct. When a train, or other moving thing, is coming toward you, the tone of the horn becomes higher. When it is traveling away from you, it becomes lower. The same thing happens with doppler radar. If the radio signal returned is higher frequency than what was sent out, then the object is traveling toward the radar. If it is lower, then it is traveling away from the radar. Love your train videos.
That M363 Grainer was big. but it was not using all 6 locomotives. Looks like just the first 2 or 3 were on-line and pulling for traction. Take a look at @6:06 no heat off the stacks and quiet. Railroads send "Dispos" all the time. Correction: Looks like 3,4,&5 were shut down, #6 was running, but not sure if under load.
That 17 has a lisense to fly and all that power on it too. Big power for a big train . What was that a sea gull that got hit? I havent seen a bird get hit but did see a german shepard get torn in half once, and other animals hit by trains. that was an awesome lashup with all those engines and grain hoppers.

I love this channel, I live in the UK right next to the GWR London line in sunny Bath, right by the famous Brunel system... we get all the HST's and some steam in the summer... but the freight trains are always my favourite. But nothing compared to the trains you video, I always am in awe when I visit LA for work at these machines.. thanks for sharing
I had a conductor who could not stand the sight of buzzards. Trains are always hitting animals on the track and buzzards are always having “dinner on the ground” on the tracks. Every time we would come up on a bunch eating I would tell the conductor to “don’t look” knowing he would look up and see the buzzards.
Nice work and info on the trains. Nice to have 2 main lines with fast moving trains! Keep up the good work and God bless. Steven W. Schuman in Gresham, Oregon
That bird died the second it hit the train it was a quick death though and it probably didn't feel much for long it probably was like a light switch turning off
Seemed like a lot of West bound trains in today's videos. CSX M363 must of been a very heavy train to require 6 locomotives or maybe CSX need additional locomotives for another route. To bad the bird got clipped by the left leading edge of the engine. wonder why the bird didn't fly right. NS has some short trains and some long trains like NS309. Good overhead video of the first CSX train in Sheridan NY.

Never been hunting for deer before than lol. They are sneaky
They are resourceful. I was just sitting on a creek bank, enjoying nature. It got a little too close at that moment.

No doubt the birds family will hire an accident injury lawyer and sue the railroad LOL. Probably the firm of Dewey, Cheatham and Howe.

I can already feel the sense that either CSX M364, M368, M367, M561, M363, or M560 will have that 6 engines leading with the 2nd being a EMD rebuild?
That bird miscalculated that maneuver big time!!
If there is a DPU part way down the train, can there be another DPU another part way down the train before the end?

The Doppler effect is actually the pitch change as the train goes from approaching to retreating.
