Thanks! Do you mean the housing or just the plug itself? The plug itself - you have to turn the white-ish plastic part with the lil lever to one side (that acts as locking mechanism) and then you can take out the plug. The housing has a 7mm hex I believe.
Guys thanks so much for making this video. Its the least intimidating and most learn friendly one I have seen when it comes to DIYing this project. Question, did it actually make your limp mode go away for good? My 08 dodge sprinter is going more and more into limp mode. Haven't changed the trani fluid or conductor plate since the 50K miles that I have drove it for. Ive done and EGR valve clean, and an EGR bypass, and nothing. And I dont think a DPF purge or delete would do anything for me. So just wondering if it fixed your issue before committing to the job. Thanks guys! Cheers 🍻
Oh thank you! :) So yes, this action fixed it all immediately. We only drove it around 1 mile after it went into limp mode. But since we knew the codes we could target it pretty well. Do you have a good code reader? I feel like that's quite crucial with Sprinters if you don't want to throw parts at them. Also, ours is a 06, so not sure if everything applies to your 08. So - it's possible it will help your problem, but I'ld give it a read with a sprinter specific code reader (like Autel AP200), maybe in a shop if you don't want to buy one.
@@lisasomewhere88 yes I have a MB code reader and it really doesn't tell me much because when I reset the van, limp mode goes away, its when it limps that the code returns. I went through the items list you provided and bought almost everything but for an 08 sprinter of course. Now I just have to convince my gf to get under the van w me 😂. I really hope it works out bc im tired of this limp mode problem. Again thanks so much for your help 🙏
@@josehndz3 Ooh, that's weird... but what code are you getting when it limps? Well I really hope that this will solve your problem! But sometimes it's as easy as to just check the Transmission Adapter Plug (to see if that's leaky in any way), but I guess if you're doing the whole service, you're probably also exchanging the Adapter Plug Housing (which is probably necessary if the plug is leaky). Hope it works all out and you can convince her, maybe with some slight bribery! :) Recommend a hat and safety glasses when you're down there, just in case. Good luck!! :)
@@lisasomewhere88 Update! So I managed to take off the pan and change out the conductor plate. Way easier said then done. Did that dirty part myself. Then my gf helped me hold and bolt it back up just like u guys lol. We had fluid all over our faces 😂. Also switched the adaptor plug for a new one. Going to top it of w fluid tomorrow and take it for a test drive. I REALLY hope it doesn’t limp again 🙏 . Did ur guys van stop limping?
@@josehndz3 Oh wow - thanks for the Update! So glad you got it done! Yay! And yeah, it's messy af... lol. The fluid topping off actually took us days until fully done actually (always getting it up to temp, testing, adding, repeat - we were SO careful not to fill up too much haha). GOOD LUCK!! We never had a problem with limping or anything else after doing this. Crossing my fingers for ya!!
I understand that can happen, but try not to. We talk nicely to ours and it gives us very little crap. Total suspicion, I get it, but I somehow believe in that positive energy.. Good luck with yours!!
Oh my goodness you are very ambitious. Respect for you both; this was quite an adventure!
Thanks - hopefully one of the last adventures of this kind.. :)
Great video and way to dive in and fix your van yourselves!
i did all this but code is stll thee ! and still in limp mode any advices?
Sorry... if you haven't yet I would join the "Sprinter Vans T1N" facebook group - tons of super knowledgeable people on there! And quick!
Awesome approach!!
Are there any tricks to taking out the adapter plug?

Just two questions. Do you work on Ram vans? And how do I make an appointment?
😂 Ram vans? Are you upgrading? Sorry our office is closed for the year...

how long did it take you to do the whole thing?
We didn't really time it, but my guess is around 3-4 hours including watching some yt help vids inbetween. But we're slow and inexperienced.
how much did you spend in all the parts?
around $300 for everything, also including tools we didn't have, fluid, pan etc.
One question it did it worked?
Like after the service the transmission run good again?
I hate my sprinter so much.
