Great to see you there, laid up with a bad knee so no retromobile for me this year. Can’t think of anyone better to see it through your experience! Enjoy!
Really interesting and many thanks for showcasing these cars... but you kept saying 'MGB' all the time describing a lot of the cars... your excitement I guess got in the way. That MGB GT cut in half example started out as a MK.1, so it originally had all the detail etc of the first series, but to save money for future releases etc it was 'upgraded' to show it as a later example, for example note the later series internal door release handle. Internal and external colours were purely done for display purposes to 'catch the eye'. EX181 was also driven at Bonneville by Stirling Moss in 1957 breaking many records. The MG used a modified MGA twin-cam engine. Another interesting fact is the rear fin was removed when Phil Hill drove it and it went a lot faster, remaining quite stable.
Many of us hold Richard in such high esteem that as far as I’m concerned he is beyond reproach. (Also, If Richard wants to pronounce Jags as Jagwars instead of Jag- u -ars that’s also fine with me!)🙏🇬🇧
I will be at the British Motor Museum (Gaydon) on Saturday where there will be some big gaps if all the MGs are in Paris. Thanks for the great pictures from Retromobile, Richard. 😎
Glad you enjoyed it Richard. I will be driving down to Paris from the UK to see the show on Saturday. We have just bought a Mercedes SL500 which we will be going in. Only been in it once but it's a lovely car. Really looking forward to the show. We have never been before. Will be returning in May for the Montlhery 100 year anniversary too.
The MG record car was originally driven by Stirling Moss in 1957 and then in 1959(?) with a slightly incressed engine size by Phill Hill. I believe I read somewhere that Moss said it was one of the most frightening cars he had ever driven.
The genius of MG was to create a traditional "sports car" that was neither powerful nor fast. It just sounded like it was powerful and fast. However if you looked at the British roads and drivers that it was made for, it didn't need to be powerful or fast. It was born to be a "look at me" fashion statement for public roads and it remains a fashion statement to this day.
Once again Richard, Your enthusiasm is a delight to watch..... Us Brits can make some Amazing Machines..... I think it was Production quality that was poor.... :-(( But it is good to see that they are still loved...... :-))
They have the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust collection on the ground floor of the Collections Centre, next to the museum. You can also see into the workshop from the upper floor.
"MG"... that pretty much says Sports Cars, better than anyone else... i had 5 Spridgets back in the day!!! However, i had to use the brakes on a regular basis. Thanks RMO... tip of the hat to your expertise!!
@@RichardMichaelOwen I'm just jealous! You were there amongst all of those wonderful cars and I'm here shivering in New Hampshire. Plotting to buy another Jaguar...
Interesting to see that MG car company has gone into the "electrical appliance" business now. They used to make interesting sports cars with "soul" in days gone by. I see Mr Kimber turning in his grave. Not all MG's are MGB's.
I hope you can show more videos of the exhibition. I've been watching as much content as possible, but it's been a bit supercar / hypercar oriented and by RUclips content guys rather than car guys.
The Cyberster would be great with a 2.5 liter V6 putting out 250HP. There is a hint of Jaguar F-Type with that flying buttress hand hold for the passenger. But electric, nah. Big Brother ruins everything.
Good evening Richard . Your passion amd excitement was the better of you !!! MGB ...... Indeed !
Thanks for sharing with us Richard. Always interesting to see all the models in various setups. Cheers

Thanks for sharing your travels and extensive automobile knowledge!
I enjoy your commentary and history behind these cars.
Thanks again, Richard, great vid. The color of that cut in half MGB I think is called shit brindle brown.
Thanks for the quality of your videos. Nice camera work, knowledge and enthusiasm for beautiful design. Much enjoyed.

Health notice: please do not play a drinking game at every incorrect use of "MGB."
Should have warned me sooner
Yes I was excited and not great sleep here in Paris. Love the cars thanks for watching

Oopsie.. too late
Great presentation of the show's vintage MGs

It is so easy to forget that English car makers like the famous MG concern built some very marvellous and historic cars.
Thanks for sharing and Cheers from Paris, too bad I can not visit Retromobile this year 😢
Thank you Richard. Cheers
Tremendous!! Thanks for such great reporting! Your knowledge on these cars is outstanding!! I always look forward to your videos!! Thanks so much!!

Wow Great tour thank you Richard!
" How were the breaks? " Fangio: "I don't know, I didn't use them" G O A T Thanx for posting, just marvellous cars.

My Dad drove a MG VA back in Norwich ,Norfolk. He said people would constantly drive into him when out and about.
There are a lot of Jaguars at Gaydon, Richard. You should visit.
They have the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust collection on the ground floor of the Collections Centre, next to the museum. You can also see into the workshop from the upper floor.
Mouth watering non stop!
Thanks for the coverage! I sure wish MG had elected to install an ICE powerplant in that Cyberster. Oh well.........I'd rather have a TC anyway!
Just watched a video on the 250 mile MG and it was Stirling Moss driving it on the salt flats.
Yes I think there were two runs 1957 &1959 , car runs on solid axles!
6:30 not Fangio (who raced post WW2), but Tazio Nuvolari, who won the TT in 1933 in an MG K3.
Yes you are right.
Pre war MG cars , I love them.

I noticed that there’s no mid engine MGF or MGF/TF ….or MGA Coupe.
Richard, please stop saying "MGB"! You are driving me nuts!! Thanks for the great video!
Obviously British car electronics have progressed a lot over the years 😂.
If you are there on Sunday.. so will I!
BOB .You beat me to it ! Unfortunately I haf bean plahing the drincing gaim !!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
great video, yet in your enthusiasm you kept saying MG B ... Hey Ho... lovely cars...
Yes not enough sleep and too much excitement. Thanks for watching
Great video Richard 👍. Will you be covering what Porsche has there?
Thanks for watching, yes I got the Porsche stand 🥂
@@RichardMichaelOwen Excellent. Looking forward to it 👍
Richard! You have MGB on the brain! Even the last car, the Bonneville MGA racer you then call a MGB.
too excited, not enough sleep, still having fun

Hi Jon, I filmed the entire event 😎
@@RichardMichaelOwen oh yes! Enjoy Paris ...
MGB?
They should hve had a TD and/or a TF betwen the TC and MGA.

M G LE CAR
👍 🫖🇬🇧
RMO, as always, nice video. That being said, I did cringe every single time you said MGB and not MG.
Cyberster is a terrible nameplate. Zero heritage present in the design.
The name is terrible and almost unpronounceable. It's not horrendously bad as a look, but very Chinese with the white leather etc.... Fake luxury.
