  • The Red-Cockaded Woodpecker is an endangered species that has found refuge in the urban ecosystem of the W.G. Jones State Forest - Texas A&M Forest Service.
    Their champion is our very own biologist, Donna Work. Work climbs 40-foot pine trees to check on the birds, band their babies to monitor population and ensure overall health and longevity of the species by improving their habitat, protecting their young and diversifying their gene pool.
