I think I overwatered last year as well. I had vines rot later in the season last year. Going to cut back on watering this year and will try to uncover vines after roots take hold.

What happens if you only get male flowers?

You have to have a female to have a pumpkin so you will have to wait. Not sure the ratio but you will see many more males than females. Maybe 15:1?
