Hey Lynette, ironically that's the same way I became interested in shell collecting as a child! My parents took me to Miami Beach when I was 11, and I sat in the little trough while the waves washed up little shell treasures - I have never looked back since! Thank you very much for checking out my content!

I'm a sea glass collector and I completely understand the bit of panic felt when you've taken time away from responsibilities to go combing, and you get there to find others who have gotten there earlier! Too funny about limited traveling due to the pandemic, I have made two visits to Marco Island in the last couple of months and have been so excited to be on the beach, shelling every morning! Florida is indeed a sheller's paradise, thank you for sharing another great video.
Oh I wish you had said you were coming here! I go shelling at fort desoto and volunteer rescuing birds there a few times a week! I would have loved to have met you! So glad you were able to enjoy shelling in my area!!

You talk about people walking past choice shells with surprise, but some people prefer to leave nature in nature. For a lot of people, hunting stuff is not why they're there.
Very true! I am an advocate of ethical collecting - many of the shells I find and show on the videos I leave on the beach. Thank you so much for coming along!

We were at Egmont Key Sept. of 2021. It was a scorcher of a day, so getting in the water to swim was the priority. Now I wish I had done some shelling there!
Hi Ann! I was able to shell on the island for approximately 3 hours in total. The Egmont Key Ferry ride(from Hubbard's Marina) is about 30 minutes each way and then you have 3 hours on the island. Of course, if you have your own boat, you can spend more time!

It is salt intrusion from the island eroding. Black on the palm trees is from a fire.
