A funny story about Joe Diffy's "Prop Me Up Beside The Juke Box": My youngest sister was 4 years old and singing at the top of her voice "KNOCK me up beside the jukebox"😅
Hi, Kevin. You've given this parodist/poet a challenge. So, here it is: (to the tune of 'Blue eyes crying in the rain') Oh, I wish that I could see them, My goddess, Shania, and Chastain. If they were stuck somewhere, I'd free them, I really love Shania Twain. Of her fan club, I'm a member, I'm in love with Shania Twain, And, I hope that she'll remember I'm more handsome than Chastain. How's that for a crazy song, composed in 20 minutes?😉 Thanks for playing "no country music for old men".
That's a pretty good song. The problem is after reading those lyrics, I may now dream of them both. A dream alone with Shania might be fun but adding the watermelon man it could get scary.
Thanks Kevin I really enjoyed the episode How about the earliest crazy song I know of (crazy for its time) from 1934 Patsy Montana "I Didn't Know The Gun Was Loaded"
The best part of #8 is getting a Hee Haw clip of "You were gone!" I smiled & sang along with Archie & Gordan. I think all of us who watched that wonderful show know all the words to the crazy songs. Brings back lots of memories. Thanks!
Marie Laveau by Bobby Bare is a good one Grandma's Feather Bed (various artists, but I'm partial to John Denver's version or Brenda Lee's, the Kingston Trio's is good, as well), Please Mr. Custer by Larry Verne, and Frog Kissin' by Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler shouldn't be missed.
❤ HEY KEVIN, How have you been doing 🤠 your doing an AWESOME job with this channel, Each episode just keeps getting BETTER, so thanks for keeping it going LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT 🤣😂🤣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤠. CYA SOON NEXT TIME 👍✌️😎
I've heard several versions, so it may have become a standard of sorts. I think there's video of Jim Stafford singing it before Pinkard & Bowden's came out.
Good one Kevin! Still telling y'all, "Ain't No UFO Goona Catch My Diesel!" Joe Dolce, the guy that sang "Shaddap You Face" and "If You Want To Be Happy," sang one country song. And it's on my daily rotations, both at work and home. The guy was from Ohio! and in my opinion, which means nothing, never got enough love. Give 'er a listen sometime.
Ray Steven's Ned Nostril and the South Seas Paradise is a crazy one for sure. Check it out for your next Ray Steven's special or in the mix of an episode.
Hey !!! What about Hank Jr.’s “Attitude adjustment “ ? I have yet to see that one on your episodes. 😂 . Great episodes of great country music. Keep em coming!!!!
Ain't that the truth with that last song? I'm so glad John Anderson is being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame next month along with guitar great James Burton & the late great Toby Keith
You could probably do a whole episode of Johnny Cash crazy songs. You should check out Dirty Old Egg-Suckin' Dog. He even performed that one on the Muppet Show along-side Rolf the Dog for extra hilarity lol
Almost anything by Sheb Wooley, I mean, Ben Colder. Ben made a career out of doing parodies of famous songs, My personal favorite is "The Doo Hickey Song".
These just keep getting better each time. When can we expect a download available series? Great way for the hall of fame museum to make a few bucks. I’m still looking and hoping that that truck driving song shows up. I don’t know the name or artist. Just that one line. “ Hot ta mighty. Look at all them buttons. I wonder what there for. There’s about a hundred on the dash and a whole bunch on the floor. Air Booster. I wonder what that does.” Can anyone help me.
Bill Anderson wrote the song. Roy Drusky was first to record it in '63. Maria Dallas did the song in early '67 and the Brothers were the third to do the song later in '67.
Loved the bit of Hee Haw at the start. I haven't seen that in a long time. Still remember the raspberry bit in it. :) I listen to country music stations so I have heard Watermelon Crawl before. I ran across No Country Music For Old Men not too long ago. Great song. Lots of references to artists and songs from the past. On the subject of Joe Diffie I have another one of his that I ran across a few years ago. I don't like most Christmas songs (particularly carols) as I have heard them ad nauseum over the years. I go for songs that are what you would call non-traditional. A few years ago I ran across a great song by Joe called Leroy The Redneck Reindeer. You really have to check out the video that was done for the song.
So many suggestions to make. Lonestar had a couple of crazy songs, like "Mr. Mom" And Unusually unusual" I really need you to mention Neal Mccoy's "Billy's got his beer goggles on" The Song is not even the craziest part! I love it. That's a crazy story. I have a similar one of a cricket box at an ex girlfriend's house years ago but won't mention it here. Ha ha
I know that she was misunderstanding the lyrics but it is still hilarious 😂
