But the opposite of Communism is capitalism, whereas the opposite of freedom is confinement. However, confinement is not what they're experiencing either in Russia ... or in China (now a free-market trading economy) in which only the social laws are controlled by the state. Likewise, we have state laws in our so-called free society. In Russia, however, educational possibilities are of a far higher level than those that we have here in the West. And as for Freedom ...our freedom is completely exaggerated. At the moment, students are not even allowed to protest against a genocide currently being carried out by the Israelis in Gaza. Whatever happened to FOS? We in the West, therefore, are not actually free. Moreover, we have a distorted media putting out fake news propaganda every day.

It wasnt just about economics. Economic freedom is a necessity, political freedom, and personal freedom are just as important. You can't have a free society if any one of those three are absent. And if you sacrifice one, the other two will fall soon after.

My grandfather was a world renowned physicist, top of his specific field, and a very intelligent man I miss having conversations with. He thought President Nixon was a great president, and said history would look back kindly on him. I disagreed as a young man who wasn't born until 15 years after he resigned. I only knew of the scandal, and his resignation, and immaturely believed that was all he was. Well now my grandfather has passed many years ago, but I wish I could tell him how right he was, and how young, and stupid I was for believing the how the media portrayed him. Clearly from watching this channel, and reading about the man now, and seeing just how intelligent, erudite, and pragmatic he was, I can only say shame on us for tearing this man down. Depends who you ask about Krushchev.
His reception is quite mixed all in all.
I'd say relatively (emphasis on relatively) moderate is the international consensus, while weak is the consensus in Russia (giving away Crimea, appeasing the West, going back on guarantees to Cuba, being deposed, etc).
Cubans despised him for giving them security guarantees and then reneging on them in a bid to appease US; protestors in Cuba even made a little ditty about him, "Krushchev, you puff, what you give you don't take back!"
On the one hand he is praised for some liberal reforms, but among hardcore Communists he's largely seen as the beginning of the betrayal of the Communist revolution - except Trotskyists who think Stalin was actually a hard swing to the right.

People must grow up in freedom. And it being 1960 and you were African-American, freedom from holding public office, freedom from voting without intimidation, freedom to be lynched because of the colour of your skin (the last occurred in 1981 for crying out loud), freedom to drink at any water fountain or eat at a restaurant or stay in a hotel that was whites-only. Etc.
